I've been thinking it over lately as to who is the supreme villain in the Marvel Universe (not supreme power but supreme villain) and I have it down to Thanos and Galactus. I kind of go back and forth between them.

Thanos is a mad cosmic powered, death obsessed, nihilist, who's only goal is to impress death by wiping out life in the universe.

Galactus is a massive celestial supergod who eats entire planets at a shot for sustenance.

Oh and what's even cooler is they've fought each other a few times!

I can't choose. Your thoughts?

I think Thanos is undeniably more villainous.

Galactus destroys planets by devouring its core... So what he does is more of an act of survival; his "victims" (lifeforms of the planets he destroys) aren't the intended target.

Thanos on the other hand seemingly kills for the pleasure and worship of murder (and Death herself). He actually succeeded in wiping out 50% of the entire Universe's population, remember? I don't know what gets more evil than that.

Agreed. Galactus is more of a force of nature than "evil". I always liked the idea that he was there as a counterbalance to the Celestials, who added to their ranks by implanting a seed in planets, so his devouring of planets served more of a purpose than, '"guys gotta eat".

Yeah... Thanos is pure villain... Galactus is a force of Nature.

That was from Earth X. It's not canon.

Galactus is because he must be! He is of universal consonance!

Thanos? He's just a very naughty boy. Although even he has had moments of altruism.

Thanos, as he's actually malicious.

One's hungry, the other in love. Can't fault either.

P.S. Anubis your Sig quote is awesome.

Even then, there's no reason for it not to be canon, as it doesn't really contradict anything on its own.

I agree with whats said about Thanos, he's been depicted as doing more utterly reprehensible villiany.

He killed half the universe, and even set up a reality for a brief time in which people were born only to be sent to ovens in IG.

He's done some sick twisted stuff, probably worse than a Hitler in a way.

Yet I've never bought Galactus lack of accountability as a force of the Universe...its always been pretty vague and badly explained. We know Galactus was at one point just a dude...and he has been shown to break down to anger and kindsness at some points.

But Thanos easily wins this.

Not a fan of Galactus here...but Thanos easily tops him.

Galactus as a final boss in MarvelvCapcom always bugged me for that reason. He's not a supervillain, he's just eating what he needs to survive. If he can find an uninhabitable planet he will, but if he's near yours and he's starving, he just won't give a ****, unfortunately.

He's certainly an antagonist, at least. And it's not like he doesn't understand the concept of compassion. He's spared planets out of compassion before. So even though he is fulfilling a necessary function of both his own anatomy and the universe's fundamental mechanics, he could be less of a dick about it if he chose.

Now if Thanos has the power of Galactus......The Marvel Universe would be no more.

Exactly. Galactus might not get his jollies off on killing like Thanos does, but he's killed way more sentient beings.

That have stayed dead, at least. There was that one time Thanos murdered half the universe, but most of them got better.
