Thanos or Galactus? Who's the ultimate villain?

We're talking about Villains here.

Squirrel Girl is the greatest hero pop culture has ever produced. :o
Paste Pot Pete is the greatest villain then. Everyone trembles before his name.

That's why he had to change it. The five major news outlets paid him to, due to news casters going mad whenever they had to utter his name.

The Trapster doesn't have the same fear inducing quality Paste Pot Pete does.

Alas, it doesn't. I feel that the character has suffered for it. :o

How are so many people brushing off Galactus as an ultimate villain? Everytime he feeds it's a planetary extinction level event. I've seen little to no sympathy from him in destroying entire planets and lifeforms simply to satiate his hunger.

Yes Thanos is a genocidal obsessed monster...and that makes him easily in contention...but to say that he has "no competition" from a being that literally eats planets and kills all life on them; that's just preposterous.

Oh by the way does anyone know what issue the Thanos vs. Galactus fight is from? The one where Thanos blows big G's helmet off?

It's not preposterous. Thanos enjoys killing, and revels in it. Galactus does not. Huge difference.

Galactus doesn't qualify as a villain to me, just someone that is extremely arrogant with a "your needs don't compare to mine" mentality unless you can sway him otherwise, via mediation or force. He's not gleefully eating people's planets, he just has to to survive.

He's also not bloodthirsty. He's content to eat an empty planet or a planet populated solely by non-sentient beings if his herald directs him to one of those. Really, the case could be made that Galactus is neutral and it's his heralds that should be considered villainous, since they're the ones responsible for choosing which planets he consumes 9 times out of 10.

Well, I know for a fact that 3 of em were evil. The others usually just chose expedience over preservation of life.

That fat bastard has to eat. :o

Does Galactus still try and eat the Earth every now and then or has he made some agreement with Silver Surfer or the FF?

And my vote goes to Thanos.

Thanos would be my pick for the same reasons listed above. And while I really don't think he's as bad as Thanos I feel that Dr. Doom should receive some sort of mention.

It was from Thanos' own book. The first story arc. The fight might've been issue 1.

Issue 3 if i recall. It was a great feat by Thanos. But then the big G came back and fried Thanos to the point where he was basically begging for his life. Galactus did comment on the strength of Thanos' shields though, noting that he had to put a little bit of effort in to break through them.

The most awesome thing in it though was the shot of Galactus picking a scorched Thanos up like a angry little teddy bear. lol.

That's not really the point. Galactus doesn't feed simply because he's hungry. He feeds to keep the universe in balance. If Galactus dies, the universe dies. And the possibility of a new one forming also dies, because Galactus is an integral part of the big bang, or something like that.

Thanos is a planet buster. Sure he doesn't actually eat planets, but he could destroy one if he so wished.

Difference is, Thanos doesn't actually NEED to do anything like that. Galactus does.

But Thanos has worn many hats, for about 15 years our time he was not interested in any villiany and was almost a hero. (post IG till Annhilation)

Galactus isn't evil in the least. Look I love steak, I kill cows to eat that steak. There are more microrganisms in one cow then sentient life on this planet. I've probably killed hundreds of cows cause I need to eat and they're delicious. Do I care about the microrganisms? No cause I'm that much above them. Galactus is the same. He doesn't want to kill cows but he needs to eat and any sentient life is pretty much the same to the oldest cosmic being in the MU as those microrganisms are to me.

So why does galactus let some things live? Well to go back to the cow thing, if I need to kill a cow but it does some awesome trick first then I'm gonna pick some other cow. So the trick for planets is to do some awesome trick first. Same way god works, if you aren't interesting you aren't worth noticing, so stop praying and do some tricks if you want to get into heaven *****es. God doesn't want an eternity with boring people any more than I do.

Thanos is way more evil but for ultimate villain I think I'd go with an ultron or annihilus as thanos doesn't actually want to do evil he just loves (literally) death. Which in a lot of ways makes him less an outright *****e than most villains despite the scale.

IGN voted Magneto greatest comic book villain of all time.

He beat out Dr. Doom, Lex Luthor, and Joker.

THE CELESTIALS....!!

JUST ASK GALACTUS! LOL:wow:

You're referencing Fantastic Four? That came off as pretty crap writing to me actually. I mean Galactus was supposed to be fully fed right? He still gets his ass handed to him? Really poor showing there from the Big G just to create some drama in the story.

He gets his ass handed to him by three Celestials, and they can only do it when they're working as one giant Devastator-style super-Celestial. I'd say Galactus' street cred remains firmly intact.
