The word "great" is pretty subjective. Doom outclasses Thanos in style, grace, coolness, and is just as ruthless and calculating. You're inflating Thanos' place in the Marvel Universe.

Doom is A List. Thanos is C at best.

The poll question is which is the greater villain, and in comparison to Doom Thanos is the greater in every way. Given their history there's no question that Thanos has proven to be the greatest threat. Nova and Starlord (who had a damaged cosmic cube) recently sacrificed themselves to keep Thanos trapped in a dying universe long enough that he wouldn't cross back over into the regular universe and slaughter all life in the known universe.

Since when did anyone ever feel they needed to collapse a universe around Doom's head in order to prevent him from causing universal armageddon?

That's completely subjective. One could easily say the same of Thanos over Doom, and would have plenty of proof to back it up. Thanos certainly has oodles of style and cool, and that's constantly on display, whether it was in dealing with Silver Surfer and having him inadvertantly commit planetary genocide, taking the Power Gem from Champion, dealing with Galactus, etc. Thanos is one of those characters who embody the concept of "Show, Don't Tell". We don't know he's a super-genius because we're told constantly that he is. We know that he is because every single time he appears we see ample evidence of just that fact.

I will give you this, though. Doom definitely has more grace. He does a wonderful pirouette when he's wearing his ballet slippers.

Maybe so, but he's certainly not as capable.

Marvel themselves state that Thanos is more intelligent than both Reed Richards and Dr. Doom. Thanos has been the subject of several major events, and certainly more than Doom. In one of the screenshots I posted Captain America states that Thanos was the greatest threat the Avengers had ever faced, and that was before Thanos got his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet.

And yet Thanos will likely be the ultimate villain for the Avengers trilogy. So despite what you think, it appears that Marvel has a whole other opinion about Thanos.

It was also pretty cool to be reminded of Thanos going head to head with Odin in those scans Captain Marvel provided, although Thanos did get his ass kicked by the Big O (he just kept getting up).

Hmm. Thanos fights Champion, who has the Power Gem, and beats him. Thanos is fighting Thor, who has the Power Gem, and beats him.

Doom, who's fighting Thanos while he's ONLY wielding the Power Gem, gets turned into a Roman candle and never poses an actual threat to Thanos. I wonder if that says something...

Oh yeah, and Thanos created a hybrid clone of both himself and Galactus that was TWICE as powerful as Galactus.

He can do that because, let's face it, Thanos is one cool cat.

Yeah I just looked at those scans you posted of the Thanos vs Thor fight and it's just as a remember, a fairly even fight until that ray gun was used.
