Good point. He has focused on winning major legislation and administrative rulemaking, but he has failed to keep his base/coalition united for the last two years and to keep the American people on his side. And whatever reason you want to say for that, he is suffering the results tonight. Albeit, I am highly skeptical of those who say that mistake has ruined his presidency (obviously).

With that said...he did campaign on health care, leaving Iraq, escalating Afghanistan and post-8/28/08 a stronger Wall Street Reform and some vague "government stimulus program."

It just seems some who signed up for "change," didn't read the fine print on what some of that may entail. But I imagine now that he has lost so many friends in Congress, he is going to try to return to that image and work with the Republicans...and push some of the blame on them when gridlock inevitably happens, I do suspect.

He hasn't significantly improved the economy and he hasn't changed the tone/character of Washington DC. He needs to work on those to win re-election.

DACrowe the leaving Iraq thing is bogus since all Obama did was basically continue what was already set up by Bush. We were already de-militarizing and taking troops out of Iraq before Obama took office. All Obama did was really continue Bush's military policies and increase the troops in Afghanistan. Didn't really work for the anti-war voters that supported Obama.

Yeah, but at least we KNOW their pulling out :yay:

I always thought Bush would change his mind or something

Well, he gave us hope at the beginning. So there's that?

I remember when he was elected, I was ****ing happy. I can actually watch his interviews and know he'll pronounce words correctly! Every time Bush spoke my head nearly exploded.

And that's the problem he SOUNDS good even when he speaks absolute nonsense.

And now he's kind of dissapointed some. Many expected instant change. But oh well. Obama has two years to get his **** together. I wish him good luck. He's gonna need it

That's what Obama promised though. Then he starts putting in his speeches I DIDN'T SAY CHANGE WAS GOING TO BE EASY!

LOL :woot: !

But my other point is that it's not all Obama's fault. I think voters deserve some of the blame for falling for the rhetoric. And I think Republicans deserve the blame because for a while they had the house, the senate, AND the presidency and they alienated their base and the voters. They drove voters to people like Obama. So I mean . . . political climates change often and quite frequently, but whatever.

Yeah, but at least we KNOW their pulling out :yay:

LOL whatever. It's just more campaign rhetoric so the RESPONSIBLY ENDING THE WAR IN IRAQ and crap like that is all nonsense. I don't want to get into a war debate or whatever.

But basically this: A lot of anti-war voters went to Obama and here is what he did. He continued Bush's military policies in Iraq which we were already withdrawing troops out of AND then he sent more troops to Afghanistan. So I wonder how that works for the anti-war voters and the people who don't like the war on terror, etc etc.

I love it when he speaks. His little pauses are perfect. They make me hang on to every word he says

Every time Bush spoke I kept hearing "hyuk hyuk hyuk" :o

To people like Obama? Democrats?

But, I do understand the frustration the WH has with all the things they have done, but as long as unemployment is high and uncertainty persists, they will get no credit. But that is what fell into their lap in 2008.

I find it a bit ridiculous to think a 30-year hole (which is really what we've dug since about 1980) will evaporate over night. But when you run on "We are the Change we've been waiting for,"

and switch to..."We were losing almost 800,000 jobs a month when I was sworn in and 600,000 jobs the month after that and 600,000 more the month after that. Stopping the bleeding at 9.6 is pretty good..."

Well it just doesn't sell very well. Not really inspiring, I suppose.

I personally can't stand his pauses. I also can't stand when he tells me to wash my hands. Thank you DADDY OBAMA! Now I will go wash my hands and not get swine flu because you told me to!

Bush's speaking never bothered me except when he failed in Iraq. At least he never told me to wash my hands.

You sound like a groupie, or worse, a worshipper. There have been many eloquent leaders that led their followers to misery and ruin.

Ah Kno

Hell, Napolean was one of those guys and look what happened to him! Obama is a great speaker. Though I do agree he's not done very well so far.

Yeah but they all supported the bailouts including Obama. Democrats also regained the house and senate in 2006 so its not like they didn't play apart in this as well.

And this is generally the problem I have with politicans (BOTH SIDES) they don't have a plan. Their plan is to say they have a plan and who ever is most charismatic and doesn't get torn apart by scandal wins. Obama was extremely charismatic and was turned into a superhero literally. Alex Ross even did a portrait of Obama emulating Superman. Obama became a pop-culture icon. But ultimately that charisma doesn't do much when it fails to get results.

Obama's charisma is now backfiring on him because he's not pleasing anyone since coming into office.

Obama has tried to please everyone. That's the problem The republicans have been a pain in the ass for him and his own party doesn't seem to like him now. But I like I said, he has two more years to figure it out, so who knows what'll happen

Not only is it backfiring on him, but his entire party. Nearly every candidate for whom Obama campaigned these last couple weeks lost, and some very handily. Dude's toxic.

It truly astounds me how the majority of you can, and will blindly follow an ideology to the end, on all fronts - whether Liberal or Conservative... Get your own opinions people...

Whose ideologoy do you feel I blindly follow? Since I don't consider myself a Republican or Democrat.

My, how terribly condescending.

Obama has tried to please everyone.
wow...i disagree lol
i especially love the "change" he promised is now gonna take a while...
i preferred him over mccain...but i feel there has to be someone better than him come next election...please...someone whos worth voting for...

If you don't feel it doesn't apply to you then it probably doesn't...

That's a triple negative. I don't even know how to compute that. Do they all cancel each other out, or does 1 negative cancel 1 other negative with a remainder of 1 negative?

Didn't take long for America to see how badly the Dems bungle things, Obama dithering on every issue helped too.

Time to head back to the Right Way.

"The right way" is, instead of the Dems sucking, elect the GOP to suck even more. The Dems did get what they deserved for not standing up to the GOP and just generally sucking but only a fool thinks that the current crop of GOP loons are going to save the day. There are alot of things that I don't care for reagarding the pres but atleast he's not a race baiting, poor hating A-hole. I mean sure he cow-tows to corperate interest like every man or woman who holds office but he sure doesn't seem to hate the poor the way the GOP does. I love it when people vote against their interest.

It's going to be awesome seeing the GOP not getting anything done either and seeing the voters get mad at them.

Man do I wish there was a sane viable 3rd party.

*sighs* you come in here to state that we are all followers? Did you vote? Do you even know who is running? Do you know what the platforms are? Do you have an opinion? Instead of telling us to get "our own"....how about giving yours on the topic.
