The 24:SEASON 6 trailer/discussion thread

Youi know what else is bugging me? I'm sick of all the "next week previews" that look good, and they never pan out. To tell the truth, I know a lot of people on here have said that next week looks good, but it looks like more retread story. And how & why is Jack in a suit all of the sudden?

He's going be Logan security entail, secret service always wear suits. He was suiting up the end of this episode.

To all the people saying "Its still early!"...it really isn't anymore. We are going on the 12th episode. That excuse may have worked for episode 5 or 6 or 7 but it really doesn't carry weight any more.

I am about half way in to the 3rd season, & I am watching the 6th. I gotta tell ya. This show really doesn't change all that much from season to season. Jack Bauer is badass, but other than that the story really doesn't change all that much. Just the characters.

Still it was great to see Logan back on 24 and him being a changed man somehow becomes a **** you to Bauer and Palmer.

Which people are saying its still early? Like you said its halfway.

The problem with this season is they started out too strong. They had a nuke detonate 4 hours in, and that defused the suspense. Each episode has its moments but they're brief and unsatisfying. It's a damn shame. They also tossed out Jack not only battling a threat, but battling with his trauma. They might bring it up but it should have been played throughout. Something big better happen to suck me back in because I'm starting to not care about anyone but Jack, and he ain't getting much screen time.

personally, my problem is there's a lot that's feeling way too familiar (bomb goes off, people on the government conspire against the president because he's not immediately with his finger on a button, sound familiar?).

like people mentioned, the torturing has become common place, and what was once seen as a shocker, is now seen as "oh, again?".

plus, they seriously have to figure Jack out. he's not showing any signs of trauma anymore (classic 24: introduce a great subplot in the beggining of the season, only to have it abandoned in a couple of hours to focus on the "thrill ride"), but he's not really kicking ass as Jack usually does. he's verging on mediocrity right now.

this season started out amazing, but after the 4 hour premiere, nothing's been really shocking or interesting or unpredictable as things were in season 5. very disappointing, I have to say.

Where was Fayed? I like how he shows up in the closing montage. <rolls eyes>

The familiarity doesn't bother me, but looking at it like that makes it even worse since it was done way better before. What does bother me is I'm not feeling any connection to anything, which leaves me little reason to tune in. I'm going to watch the rest of the season though. It's just there was so much potential and it seems to have been thrown away for the sake of a very wild family angle, which I thought was going to pan out awesome but is just, you know. Whatever. Very disappointing indeed.

Well everyone, they really can't change the story too much, then it won't be 24 anymore, now will it?

1)It will always involve a terrorist attack.

2)It will more than likely always be CTU LA

3)The lead agent will always be Jack Bauer.

Those elements can never change.

Everything else is just filler. I don't know who the writers are this season but if they're the same writers from previous seasons, then the problem is just probably writers block. Then, i'm sure those *******s at FOX studios have a problem with the writers trying other things that seem too 'un-24-ish', so i believe there's multiple factors contributing to the lackluster this season.

Then there's us, the fans, who've tuned in for years. We may be the problem too. It's like if your favorite food is Pizza, and you eat Pizza everyday, no matter how much you love it, eventually you'll get tired of eating it, no matter how many different toppings they slap on there for you to try. We've become so use to the formula, that we see things coming a mile away, so now it's like 'meh'.

It'll be interesting to know what new fans of the show think of this season; if they've developed the 'third eye' most of us long time fans have developed through years of watching the show....like i said it may be just us.

usually, the seasons start with great potential (Jack addicted to heroin), mostly because of previous cliffhangers (Jack believed dead, then taken by the chinese), but they throw much of the great potential those plots bring away within a few episodes.

except that usually when they shift the focus from that the story goes somewhere exciting. this season has been nothing but "meh" after the four hour premiere. there were a couple of cool moments here and there, like Milo on the field (I couldn't help but "GO MILO!" :D), but it's too little.

worst season so far.

I believe its the same core writers from last season. In season five they brought David Fury and Manny Coto from Lost and Howard Gordon was now the showrunner (Joel and Bob, the creators, took a smaller role to concentrate on other projects). So its the same writers who if you check out the Entertainment Weekly article I posted they're nervous they know its tough writing for the sixth season. They set the bar high. In all the interviews hyping up the season remember they said that something bad in America has happened, they wanted to see what its like when the terrorist attack has happened instead of Jack swooping in and preventing it.

I've just started reading a book called "Wild Fire", by Nelson DeMille. It lays out an incredible storyline that could easily be adapted to fit either a Jack Bauer solo storyline or a season of 24. The book is currently on the best-seller list, I'd recommend it to anyone who loves 24.

The producers tried to buy the rights for The Da Vinci Code and use it for the third season but Dan Brown declined, wanting it to become a film. That was just before the 'Da Vinci' explosion. Still, if they thought of one book why haven't they tried looking at others.

So if you haven't got 24 SEason 1, there's a great deal in the paper today... Circuit City will take 10% off the difference of any price, so Target is selling Season 1 for 17, it's 50 dollars at Circuit City, you can end up getting it for $13-14...

Here in the uk they sell em dirt cheap around this time of year like 1/3 the RRP, then they hock them back up again when the newer dvd is coming out.

Because of the lackluster story this season, along with the new Spiderman 3 trailer/clip being showed during NBC's 'Heroes tonight', i think '24' might see it's ratings hit an all time low tonight...

8 milliion viewers are going to switch over to watch a clip on NBC?
24 had its lowest ratings for the Chappelle killed at the rail yards because Bush dropped in a primetime speech about Iraq on a Tuesday so the new episode of 24 aired on a Sunday night against Alias, The Sorpranos, Criminal Intent and whatever the hell CBS had.

Heroes will of course be higher but I don't think that it will be such a drop or that Heroes will have such an increase. Is there any evidence that having trailers/previews crushes the competition or just give a decent boost? The clip will be online and its not like its the first ever look at Spider-Man 3.

am i the only thats noticed that karen hayes was suppose suppose to be back at ctu almost 2 -3 episodes ago. but never showed up?

So the best most badass characters right now are: Jack Bauer, Milo, and Charles Logan...what the hell?

Did they say Assad is dead? I missed it.

And does anyone else love how Logan relates to Jack? Understands his ordeal? I really hope they develop that.
