The Acolyte from Leslye Headland

2 episodes in and enjoying it so far. Once again don't know why there is such negativity around an SW show, but it's unfortunately becoming the norm.

I’d say it’s more the Internet magnifies the complaining minority rather than that being representative of the whole.

People complained over Return of the Jedi, then the prequels came out, people complained about the prequels and then the sequels came out, people complained about the sequels and then the shows came out, etc.

There have been people complaining since the start, but still the franchise is solid.

The internet just gives those people and bigots who always whine about diversity a bullhorn so they sound louder than they actually are.

The Acolyte has amassed 25 000 audience ratings in a month on Rotten Tomatoes (it's currently at 14%). That's more ratings than The Mandalorian season 1, season 2, season 3, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett have amassed since their release dates... all put together. I wonder if RT will intervene with the botting, AI-generated reviews, copy-pasted hate messages, etc. that are dropping that percentage. I think they've done that before.

Hopefully they will handle the bots.

It looks like the rest of the season is on Wednesdays now?

I’m rewatching all the episodes before the season finale and in episode 3 I noticed a detail. When Qimir and Mae are packing up before they head into the forest. You can see Qimir pack away what looks like a lightsaber. People probably already noticed it though.

It's brave of you to think anyone has rewatched the show. :o

Yeah I love torturing myself lol but it’s not that bad imo for me at least. I can get why others on here don’t really mess with the show though.

I re-watched it with my family and we have all enjoyed it.

I agree something needs to be done with the bots. If we eliminate the bots, the rating might improve to 30%. I'm more concerned with the level of awfulness of this show.

That wasn't just the worse Star Wars project, but generally one of the worst things I've seen in some time. I don't know if it bothers me more that they crapped on a perfectly good and interesting concept of an era we know very little about or that all the racists and sexists are probably saying "of course it's bad because it's woke" when in reality they were never going to give it a chance regardless. Probably the latter.

This was a very mediocre SW-show over all. I guess I follow most fans with holding Andor at the top along with first seasons of The Mandalorian. The other shows and seasons definitely gets below, but I can't really rate those in order, since I still like stuff like super adorable (and really good, compared to e.g. the child actresses here) lil Leia in Obi Wan, and some fun stuff in Bobba Fett etc. Not sure where I'd place this either.

I really wanted to like this show but somehow the story and acting just got, like worse during the episodes? And such a waste of great actors/actresses (it's ****ing criminal to tease Carrie Ann Moss, and then treat her character like this). I really enjoyed the fighting jedi/"70s kung fu"- scenes, consistantly great during all episodes. I also think the sets and over all effects was perfectly fine for a TV-show IMHO.

I usually tend to be careful if I'm not sure wether it's the actor's fault or the writing or direction that makes characters suck, and I'm not sure here. Maybe Amandla Stenberg would be better with better script, direction etc. I dunno, I simply kept hoping I would find the Mae/Osha characters better during episodes, but eh..

And those teasings of the two characters.. eh. Still, IF this will be getting renewed for a second season, I of course will check it out. Out of curiousity. For a friend. Because Star Wars..

It dropped out of the top 10 originals with under 298m in week 3. It lost out to a ****ing Netflix auction show.

Reminds me of how I felt when they renewed America's Next Top Model instead of CSI: Miami.

Disney+ numbers in general are not in the same league as the big boys (Netflix, Hulu). With all the money they are spending sooner or later something has to give.

I always find something in a Star Wars movie, tv series, video game that I like and would like to get some collectibles from. OT, Prequels somewhat obvious. Clone Wars - Ashoka, Rebels - Ghost & it's crew, Andor - Andor, Luthen & Kino, Mando - Mando, Bad Batch - Crosshair even the sequels - BB8, but there's nothing really I want from the Acolyte. I kind of likened it to House of the Dragon, where I'm not really invested in any of the characters. But at least I watched this, never watched the Resistance cartoon.

I think Acolyte is going to be a love/hate show, bit like Marmite, I've seen some people express their absolute loathing of it and others think it's fabulous; if there is a second season however, I don't think it will be down to fan reaction.

A LOT of people hated TROS, but it hasn't stopped Iger and Kennedy from continuing Rey's story.

I don't think fans have to love everything Star Wars does. There's a general consensus on the popular things but I've read books like the Crystal Star that I didn't particularly liked, obvious I wouldn't be devastated if Acolyte didn't get a Season 2, didn't get into the High Republic comic series and while an unpopular opinion I was never the biggest pod racer video game fan.

Well ultimately that comes down to viewership.

TROS still made a billion dollars.

Off topic, but I saw a pic of the forthcoming SW encyclopedia....and noticed the cover image didn't feature Han or Anakin. I'm not surprised Ben Solo wasn't there as Disney want him forgotten, but I'm baffled that Anakin aka Darth vader didn't feature, let alone Han, one of the most popular - or 'the' most popular - of the OT cast. Especially as they featured Darth Maul who only featured in one film (apart from a brief cameo in Solo).

I do find it interesting that two Acolyte related novels have been announced from Project Luminous (The High Republic's publishing codename) authors. Knew about the Kelnacca book. I may pick up the art of the Acolyte to go with my Art of the High Republic books.

Either they have decided to continue the story in book form or are using them to fill in the gaps, so to speak.
I loved The Rise of Kylo Ren comic, which told far more of his story than the films did.
