"The action was great, but the plot sucked!, Movies with the Reverse

X-men 1, Superman Returns, and Star wars A new hope. X-men was good, but the action didn't quite deliver. SR had a good story, In my opinion, but honestly the action sucked. And Star wars, what can i say, im just not a fan. never have been, never will be.

My condolences.

I would rather Michael Bay just stay a producer. He's no good as a director and he couldn't make a decent action scene to save his life.

Wow, completely disagree. Bay is a master of action, Transformers and Bad Boys 2 prove that.

On topic - I actually think QoS fits. I liked the plot (it wasn't great, but it was satisfactory), but the shakycam action was terrible. I was actually bored during the action scenes (especially the chase, we really didnt even get to see the car move, just close-up shots of Craig shifting gears and the front grill of the car. yawn.)

And people really need to stop blaming Will Smith if they don't like his movies. He doesn't write or direct them, he just stars in them. and does a damn good job.

Bay is a master of the quick edit. His action scenes bore me. The action in Transformers was garbage...poorly framed, blurry, hyper-edited garbage. You couldn't even see what was going on half the time.

This is what I don't understand. You just described the typical Michael Bay car chase lol. Close-ups of guys grimacing, shifting gears edited between nanosecond shots of the cars. Just like the chase scene through San Francisco in The Rock, the chases in the Bad Boy movies, etc. What's the difference?

I mean look at this scene for example lol. You see more close-ups on faces than cars moving. You don't even know where the cars are half the time. With the Michael Bay style of editing you get closeup of actor - shift gear -closeup - something crashes - shift gear - show car - closeup - ad nauseum.

One thing that also cracks me up about Bay's editing is we'll see a car in a position where it's crashing or has no way out and one quick edit later it's like it never happened and the car is still moving....2:06 - 2:12 being a great example. I like some kind of cohesion during an action scene or a chase and Bay's action rarely has any.

I like Bay's shooting aswell but I won't contradict myself. The Rock is oen of my favorite movies along with Armagedon and Transformers. The guy gets performances out of people that no one else can in my eyes. His movies always have that Bay Humor, action and a love story. Bay movies are meant to be fun and they usually are about 90% of the time people go to see them aswell he has mass appeal.
