I suppose it might depend on how well the Mera/Arthur relationship is received. I love it and I think a lot of people are going to love it too in which case Dolphin might be added to add to the drama and develop it but if people would rather see Mera and Arthur as like Darnarys and Khal Drago then they'll want them to have more action oriented scenes

Interesting. A lot of people seem to complain about flashbacks in big blockbuster movies (suicide squad definitely copped I think over that) but I think movies like Inglorious Basteds did it well so I hope it's like that

So with Neurus in this storyline, what's the chances of this movie taking from New 52 and having Mera's checkered past of being assigned to assassinate Aquaman along with being set to marry Neurus being explored in this film?

With Geoff Johns being one of the main writers for this, I'd like to think that the film would have his contributions to the character as a large part of the film's DNA.

But overall considering the characters confirmed for this film so far I think it's safe to expect cues from

- The Trench and The Others: due to the allegedly inclusion of both the Trench themselves and the inclusion of Black Manta's father along with Manta himself.

- Throne of Atlantis: due to the exploration of his parents' history, The focus on Ocean Master/Orm as the main villain and inevitably what he did to get the throne along with the inclusion of Vulko and the possibility that he's responsible for the war between Atlanteans and humans in an effort to get Arthur on the Throne.

- Death of A King: Due to the involvement of King Neurus and the potential exploration of Mera's checkered past along with the background history of Atlantis


I'm not sure we should expect this stuff verbatim but I think it's a safe guess that these stories are gonna have ingredients pulled from it with an injection of stuff from previous takes on the character.

Who knows at this point? I mean, we have three characters that have been antagonists to Arthur in the past. Will they all get their due in one film or will story lines be relegated to the background to be fleshed out in a sequel?

There's a chance that unless they go the animated movie's route where Manta and Orm are partners, I can see the seeds being planted by showing Flashbacks to set up for a sequel that is all about Arthur vs Manta.

As for Neurus, I can see him almost solely being a flashback character used to build history for Mera and develop Arthur/Mera's relationship dynamic.
