The All Encompassing AQUAMAN Movie Thread - Part 4

If anything. This may allow for some modest Aquaman projection initially and give the film the opportunity to blow the industry away if it becomes popular on release in turn making the strategy very successful.

It would also just reinforce to other studios how WB can't be messed with even if it is looking a bit injured at the moment.

Of course that's just one possible scenario out of an infinite amount.

WB is having a good year, they're currently the second highest grossing studio thanks to Ready Player One and Rampage. They're not doing Disney numbers but 2018 is going well for them.

Agreed.

It's not really hard to believe considering it's a extremely well known Disney property and it serves as a sequel to the original film. It's going to make bank.

Having said that, Mary Poppins could make a lot of money as a family movie over the holidays. It's a Disney classic. If they can update it in a way that people like, it could be a big hit for them.

Yes, I can see Mary Poppins doing very well.

So both movies are coming out on the same weekend? I have a feeling somebody is moving.

I say STAY PUT! Stand our Ground! The week before is Spider-Man the animated movie and that will be a hit too. So stay put and lets fight bumblebee

Ya'll freak out way too quick. A kick ass AM trailer will get folks hyped. Both Alita and Mortal Engines have box office bombs written all over it. I know of one advanced screening that was cancelled for Alita, so don't put your chips in there, regardless of how much I want to see it myself. Eh.

What we all hope an AM trailer does to the competition.

I want that Poppins movie to flop tho, but the mouse is too powerful.

Disney has had plenty of flops. Lone Ranger and John Carter to name just two.
Neither made much impact on Disney. Solo is underperforming but I doubt Disney is too worried because they already have a couple billion dollar blockbuster hits this year.

I think Alita: Battle Angel and Mortal Engines look the most likely to flop

Won't be surprised if they release the trailer sooner (next week?) rather than later (SDCC).

Why? Is Mary Poppins still a big thing these days?

It's not, but nostalgia has a lot of drawing power at the box office. I could see that kicking in, if they have managed to come up with the right formula to update the story.

Also, the holidays are a good time for a family movie.

It was Superman TAS and Justice League/Unlimited version that made me love the character. I know in TAS he only had a guest spot and appeared in a few episodes of JL/UL but he left a strong impact.

Yeah they might as well just wait till SDCC. I won’t complain if we do get the trailer before that tho.

I think it is best if they move Aquaman earlier. Spiderman and Mary Poppins are going to be DOMINATING the Box office. The hype is going to be lost I think.

Spiderman animated movie will not dominate anything. I'm going to call it now - 400m WW tops.

Marry Poppins might actually dominate in US box office.

Spiderman cartoon is not going to dominate anything at least domestically.
