The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

This goes beyond financials and cinematic universes. WB cannot release a tentpole movie with a child rapist as its main star FFS.

Either reshoot the scenes, or shelve the movie.
Damn, I hadn’t heard the most recent allegations. This is too much now.

Being a Flash fan, it absolutely blows my mind that I can hear a suggestion to completely shelve the movie and think "that might actually be a good idea". This whole situation is just f***ed up and as huge and expensive of an endeavor as it might be, reshooting Miller's scenes or completely starting over would probably be for the best.

It’s kind of surreal that discussion about Keaton returning to play Batman after thirty years has been overshadowed by one actor’s scandals that seem to get crazier and more outrageous by the day….

What a complete disaster. I don't even know how to feel about this movie anymore. I was excited about it strictly because of Keaton's return and I always felt leary of that being attached to an Ezra Miller vehicle, but this is now too distracting for it to even be fun anymore.

It pains me to say this should just be dumped on HBO Max because I think something like the return of Keaton's Batman is a monumental moment and deserved to be seen on the big screen without all this BS surrounding it. But this situation would make promoting this movie one big PR nightmare.

Reshooting everything involving Ezra also seems kind of unrealistic, considering he's the star. I don't know. It would all depend on how much that costs, and getting schedules to line up and everything. If they can pull it off, sure, but I don't know if they're going to want to throw that much more money at it.

That's exactly how I feel.

There's Batgirl w/ Keaton, which may move to theatrical debut to assuage theater chains annoyed if the Flash movie gets shelved. That was a rumor two months ago about a theatrical move for Batgirl from HBO Max. Wasn't the Flash movie supposed to come out before Batgirl or was it the other way around? Anyway according to the latest schedule Batgirl comes out before (2022?) the Flash movie (moved to June 2023)

what a mess

To be fair to Zack, WB had their chance to drop Ezra and strangely ploughed on with him.

That being said, I've always been fair to Zack but after everything that's happened, no one can argue against casting safe actors on such big projects again.

This situation genuinely has me worried about the film as I don't think this is anywhere near the end of this debacle. We'll be lucky to get a Sony type 90 minute hatchet job at this rate.

yeah I was willing to forgive ezra on the first issue if he apologized and show an attempt to do better but its been a downward slide.

Sure, but somebody has really liked Ezra att WB since he has been in that Fantastic Beast franchise etc.

I would say that this and the Flash role aren't that big and since it's pretty much his only work since 2015, I don't know if he's really gotten much favor.... In fact, his big break-out could have been with this solo Flash movie (and maybe the Dali biopic in which he will share the title role with Ben Kingsley). But the way things are going, I think the only thing he'll break is his career. :funny:

... Well, that's the optimistic scenario.

If this goes even uglier (but frankly, it's already too much), I think The Flash is well on its way to become the second DCEU ghost movie after the Snyder Cut. I wonder if Batgirl is more or less on hold in case it needs to be reworked and become the true comeback movie for Keaton.

I would give sir Ridley Scott a call since he has experience replacing a main star with allegations on short notices. Why cant WB just pay Grant Gustin whatever he wants and bring him in and use their scene from the crossover to somehow take Ezra out of the story?

But seriously like you said this is bigger then a comic-book movie and I truly hope Ezra gets the help he needs before all this behavior goes too far. Also this young lady and her family find peace and somehow move on from this.

its Strange to me WB chose to back him and Amber but cut Depp loose.

It’s not strange. A court found Depp to be a wife beater prior to him filming FB3, so he was dropped. There were no similar court rulings against Heard or Ezra prior to them filming their roles, so they were not dropped.

WB may have contracts that stipulate that star x (like Michael Keaton) gets paid a % of the box office then shelving it complicates matters legally for them that they'd have to work out with all the stakeholders including theater chains. Though if I were Keaton I wouldn't want to be associated with this person (Miller) on-screen if I could help it at this point.
Oh I doubt it too. problem is, nobody knew this mess was so bad until the movie was shot.

Yeah...WB has to act differently because they are a corporation and if they move too soon they risk major problems if proven wrong. AH and Ezra were in different spots when WB backed them. Depp was already much farther along in His issues. (That people act like he was vindicated annoys me)

At this point they should swap Flash to a later time, no one will even be upset. Push for the Batgirl theater experience and maybe fast track Supergirl. Give yourself time to let this play out (even though they have a year) and reasses. In 2 years WB might look completely different and can maybe absorb the HBO Max dump without much pain.

Not sure anyone could do anything to mitigate this. Ezra is on slow train to hell with Armie Hammer...

Nothing...but I figured sexualized cannibalism (alleged) was enough ;)

I see popular fancast choices are aging well. :o

That one person who tried to compare this mess to Heard's like honey this is a whole other level.

Is it weird that I'm more excited to see the "Pitch Meeting", "HISHE", and "Honest Trailer" adaptations than the actual film itself?
