BvS The All Things Positive Thread - A place to talk about what you LIKE from BvS so far.

I'll take you comments - I do agree that BvS could be seen as a sequel to MoS since it will involve some direct themes and plot effect from MoS. Also since this is a "Positive" thread, I'll drop my semantics argument :woot:

Fair play, i'll try not to sound so much like a dick at times. I honestly don't think about things the way I write them sometimes. I read them back and think damn that didn't read well.

No problem at all - I was nitpicking a bit there, so don't feel too bad. Forums are a fickle beast sometimes :woot:

In support of the Thread's namesake, here are my top 5 things I like about BvS so far:

1. Cavill returning as "The Man" - he's so great in the role!
2. The Batsuit - it really looks great and I can't wait to see it in motion
3. Affleck as "The Other Man" - wasn't sure at first, but am totally on Team Batfleck for sure.
4. Terrio onboard as writer - they needed some new blood in that role to mix it up a bit.
5. Introduction of new DC characters - being the precursor to JL, I can't wait to see cameos of some of the other members...it's going to be glorious!

-The Dark Knight Rises elements (including the two facing off and the badass Batsuit)

-Ben Affleck: I always thought he flashed superhero brilliance in Daredevil, and he may be the best physical embodiment of the character yet on screen.

-Jason Momoa: as someone who loves Aquaman, I want the rest of the world to see how badass he can be. Momoa seems like the man for the job.

-Them (apparently) having the destruction of Metropolis be a major plot point ala Tony dealing with New York in IM3. This is a huge step in the right direction.

1. Cavill as Superman (except for his hairstyle)
2. WB finally making this.

That's about it.

:o

What people mean that BVS is not a sequel to MOS 2 is that its not a Superman movie.
Not like Civil war which is a Captain america movie festuring other heros

Just because it's not primarily a Superman movie per se does not mean it's not a Sequel to MOS, at least according to the dictionary definition of the term posted.

I totally agree with you on Momoa - great choice for Aquaman. Not a safe choice by any means, but will be refreshing and bada$$!!

Considering the last Superman cast only got one film I'm just relived to see the Man of Steel cast have another go at their characters.

I like the idea of the public being split on how Superman handled the Kryptonian invasion like the real world public is. I like that people don't just automatically love Superman because they wouldn't in real life.

Duh I like that Bats and Supes are finally going to be in the same film.

I like Batman's short eared cowl and from what I've seen his costume looks like the best live action Bat costume ever.

I like that Terrio rewrote Goyer's script because his scripts always need rewrites.

I like that we'll finally get to see a big screen version of Wonder Woman.

Nice list

90% about everything i have heard or read i like

the only things up in the air for me still are Eisenberg as Lex and having too many characters crammed into the movie

I think the last comic book film, that I remember, that was able to keep so much secrecy around it was Tim Burton's Batman films, mainly due to the fact that the dude shot most, if not all, of his stuff on sound stages and within the comfort of the Warner Bros studios.

Pretty much everything I've read or seen so far on this production appears good to me.

- Batfleck/Batsuit
- cast (Jeremy Irons)
- Goyer out/Terrio in
- Set photos all look promising

As long as the script and dialogue is solid, I am very optimistic for this film. Can't find anything that really makes me second guess anything.

I’m really excited about this film.

Maybe it’s naïve, but I think Terrio, Snyder, Goyer and Affleck(who I think is channeling his influence very quietly behind the scenes through Terrio), must have pitched something fantastic to the new WB CEO to get him to go all in regarding finally launching the DC universe on film.

I admit, I was a bit leary in the early stages (pre-Terrio) when they were pitching this as MOS2 . Now that they’re taking the approach that this is a stand-alone DC Universe movie, however, that plays on events set up in MOS in order to build the foundation of the Justice League so that when JL (part 1) hits it won’t have as much groundwork to cover, I’m excited as hell.

The Eisenburgh as Lex thing is weird, but it might not necessarily be a bad weird, and I have faith that Gadot will turn in a performance as WW that will be different enough from other super heroine’s of the past that it will win over a lot of her critics (though some haters are always gonna hate).

The addition of Larry Fong as cinematographer has me ecstatic as well. I’ve loved all of his work so far. This guy can do anything and makes all of the films he touches simply gorgeous; (the Lost pilot), 300, Sucker Punch, Watchmen, Super 8, and Now You See Me? All visually brilliant.

This movie will, if nothing else, be a spectacular to behold, and that alone is something to be happy about. If the script is as good as I hope it will be (following Terrio’s rewrites and Affleck’s input (regarding Batman if nothing else)) then the sky’s the limit.

Its' not just you man so don't take it personally okay.

But i've heard many a say that JesseEisenbeg as Lex is the one they're worried about but think Gal Gadot will be fine. Based on what? Eisenberg is an Oscar nominated actor, he's proper actor while no offense to Gal but her best known work so far is the F&F franchise in which she's plays a bit part role and from that they gather she'd be fine as WW?.

No, I didn't say I was worried about Lex, what I said was...

The Eisenburgh as Lex thing is weird, but it might not necessarily be a bad weird...

I think he'll have to make the character his own, by completely reinventing what has come before simply due to his meekness (expressed through his physicality and his rather weak voice), but that's cool. I'm up for some creativity.

Regarding Gadot, I agree with you that her work (along with everyone else's in the F&F franchise) was uninspired, over the top, unrealistic and not relateable. I'm basing my hopes on her TV work in Israel where she has played both bad-asses as well as caring and relateable characters with subtlety.

I don't have access to YouTube at the moment, but I'll try and dig up a few examples later, though this discussion should probably be held in the Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman thread in that characters own forum.:yay:

Agreed. It's weird.

It's weird that so many people question whether or not Eisenburgh can turn in a good and creative performance. I think they're just hung up on him portraying the version of Lex they like best (whether it be the physical and intellectual swave version from STAS, the priveleged sociopath from Smallville, the Bald and evil version of Tony Stark from the last two decades of the comics, or the real-estate obsessed con-man from the Donner and Singer films (though I'm not sure how many will bemoan the loss of that interpretation).

Like I said, Eisenburgh has the potential to turn in something really creative and new, and I'm excited for that.

Oh sorry dude must have misread what you said. :funny:

The point still stand's though. No one can say Gal will be fine and that Jesse won't be.

No problem.:cwink:

Nothing is guaranteed with Gadot, for sure. She is the wild card that can either steal the show or...otherwise. Since this is the positivity thread, I'll side with steal the show (where's that fingers-crossed emoticon again...)

All I know is, after a decade or so of hearing people suggest D-list crap actor Billy Zane for Lex BECAUSE ZOMG YOU GUYS HE'S BALD AND WEARS SUITS SOMETIMES NOW LET ME POST THIS PICTURE OF ZANE IN A SUIT 15 MILLION TIMES, I'm glad we have a real, critically acclaimed, Academy Award-nominated actor for Lex.

Nobody should want Billy Zane for anything. :barf:

Eisenberg is quality and I have a feeling that if/when people hate, it will be the characterization, not his performance. It will probably be the same with Gadot
