Was over at IMDB and one of the threads said it was tracking to be the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie.

Is that true or is it just hyperbole?

It is tracking at and around TASM, so if that holds, yes it has the potential be the lowest grossing Spider-Man film not only domestically, but worldwide. Though I'd expect China to save it from that.

And by that time TASM3 will almost be ready for filming in October.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Hopefully, we get some casting news on that film soon. Needless to say, let us wait to see what happens. I believe someone on the board will be happy nevertheless.

Could you imagine if this winds up being theb lowest grossing and worst received Spider-Man movie yet? Sony would probably lose their goddamn minds lol

I could almost sense jubilation in your words. ;)

Sony will just move on and continue the series. They won't cancel TASM3 or anything at the risk of going out of business and losing a LOT of profit.

Hey I've seen the movie, and from what I've seen thus far in terms of reviews and predictions it's getting pretty much what it deserves. I hope this knocks some kind of sense into Sony, because I don't even think I can say I'm even looking forward toward the next one, I feel so "eh" on it.

From everything I've read (IMDB included), this film looks to be at least as bad as the first. That has made me call off my family and friends outing to see the movie on Friday. We always gather for Marvel films but not for this one. I can't be the only one. I have a feeling that word of mouth is going to kill this in the USA.

You shouldn't let RT and imdb help you decide on what movie to see. Might as well check out the film and make your own opinion.

This is certainly an interesting situation, TASM2 is getting close to a mixed/polarizing reception so far, and it has to stare down Godzilla and Days of Future Past in the next few weeks. I think the ceiling is right around what TASM1 made (750mil IIRC?).

I would thank the Spidey gods upstairs if this touched at least 800M. I think the US crowd will like it widely.

Also, I heard this movie has the biggest number of theaters it's opening in?

I See Spidey, second person I know claiming for an 80s mil opening.

You caved?!?!?!
I'm tired of not predicting things because I'm afraid to be wrong. Who gives a crap if I'm wrong. Everybody thinks that every film is going to break records in this slot and I don't think it's going to happen this time. I think the mixed reaction to the first film, plus the mixed reviews, plus the obnoxious marketing, plus Cap 2 stealing it's thunder equals underperforming opening weekend numbers.

That is most certainly debatable. :funny:
You jerk, you aren't supposed to say that.:oldrazz:
