CBM fatigue excuse? LOL now I know this movie is a failure.
I think it's more down to francise fatigue and CBM fatigue which will only get worse. Could probably do with a break.
Didn't Cap 2 increase its box office take by like a 1000% from Cap 1? Maybe you mean mediocre superhero movie fatigue?
That's what I'm thinking. The crowds will turn up in droves if the movie gives them a compelling reason to do so. Cap 2 continues to prove that, as have a myriad of these movies in the last 15 years or so.
This franchise fatigue thing is a myth. Resident Evil hasn't even reached that point. Harry Potter never did either.
I'd say Raimi/Maguire is basically an automatic win over Webb/Garfield now, if we're actually looking at this from an objective standpoint.
These films aren't getting worse reviews and not doing as well at the box office by magic/coincidence.
People have become far too revisionist about Raimi/Maguire just because of Spider-Man 3 without actually thinking about the studio interference and the general making of that film. Have we all just forgotten that those films were, at the very least, great in their time? I myself would say they're still both great now, and certainly better than the drivel that Webb/Garfield have produced, but yeah.

I think it has to do with the villain factor. Most heroes outside of Batman, Spider-man, and maybe Superman don't have a great rogues gallery that would work on screen. Bond is always fighting the same egomaniac that wants to take over the world, but the writers don't feel tied to the books anymore.
cbm fatigue is such a hilarious myth.
You expect me to believe that somehow people are so fatigued from going to the movies every so often to be entertained?
For example this year between April and August, 4 cbm will have been released. Yet these cbm fatigue believers think that people are going to get fatigued that they won't spending 8 hours in 4-5 months to go be entertained.
Do these people also believe in TV show or sports fatigue too?
No, he doesn't. Only very rarely and mainly in the campiest Roger Moore films.

Hey, HEY! You watch your mouth!![]()

QFT
If people like something they will go and watch it, as long as its good enough or they will just skip the next installment if not.
Rom-coms have been around far longer than CBM's, surely that bubble has to burst first and it doesnt look like happening, because its not going to happen.
Well, it's true. The main films where it happens are The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, and to a certain extent, Octopussy. Although in the latter case, it is the Soviet Union he wants to rule the world and not himself personally. In TSWLM and Moonraker, it still really isn't played entirely straight. In both cases the villain thinks that humanity has become too corrupt and decadent and basically wants to wipe out civilization so a new one can be formed under the sea/repopulated from outer space.
Most Bond villains just want to get rich(er).
Oh I know, I was kidding. All those old Bond flicks occupy a special place for me all the same; I'm a sucker for them.
Me too. I like Roger Moore. TSWLM and For Your Eyes Only are two of my very favorite Bond films, and even the bad ones he did are entertaining.
The problem is with the fact that no one cared to think things through. For the studio, they see a superhero and the only thing that comes to mind is money. They can't be bothered with a long-term plan because they really don't think the properties are anything but "origin, then keep adding bad guys to make each movie seem cooler." Before the FIRST Spider-Man film was shot, they should have had a rough idea for Spider-Man 10. It isn't like the character is a fad that will go away in 5 years. Had they cared to properly develop the story, we'd have a Spider-Man 5 right now that makes sense.
I can watch the hell out of Connery's first four, OHMSS and Craig's films. The rest I can watch too varying degrees. Casino Royale and Skyfall are my favorites by quite the margin.I love almost every Bond film for one reason or another! Whether it be they're legitmately good, or they're funny bad!
Connery era is probably still my favorite. Though I love Casino Royale and Skyfall was well.
They are thinking long term, that's the problem. People keep subscribing to this theory that a plan has to be in place, in actual fact what needs to happen is full concentration needs to be placed on the film that's being made at present. This is the current problem for not just Spider-Man but superhero films in general over the last 5 or so years.

Goldfinger is still my favorite quintessential Bond movie. It's full of iconic moments and characters; Goldfinger, Oddjob, ***** Galore, Q becoming a fully fledged character, the Aston Martin DB5, the laser sequence; "Do you expect me to talk - No Mr Bond I expect you to die", the girl dead on Bond's bed pained head to foot in gold, the Fort Knox assault etc.
Classic. Connery was the man.
