Well, if Ben signed on for BVS, he obviously signed for Justice League & probably a god knows how many pictures deal, so he's probably going to do solo Batman movies (unless you meant him directing)

Multiple team-up movies ? yes.

Solo Batman movie ? No.

(according to some sources, also confirmed by KalMart here.)

Why has the US become less interested since the the very first film?

I think the answer is that, this question gets it somewhat backwards. Its not that the US audience has gotten less interested in Spider-man, so much that the interest in the first Spider-man film was artificially high. It was really the first modern big budget, high adventure superhero film, with all the modern tricks and techniques of contemporary CGI and special effects.

Basically, Spider-man 1 didn't set a new standard for box office interest; it merely was an unusual peak.

Sigh what a depressing time to be a Superman fan. On the other hand, if youre a Snyder/Goyer/JL fan, time to partay!!!

On-topic: Irregardlessly of the critics/wom, I still can't imagine this thing making any less than $800m. The expanded markets in Asia etc will make sure the movie turns a tidy (but still disappointing) profit.

The summer movie season is tingling--THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN 2 dropped a debut of $91,608,337.

I've encoutered alot of very entusiastic fans who thought Cap would make the most money.

I never thought for a minute that he would best Spider-Man in the UK. TASM2 should finish just under $40 million here in the UK.

I didn't think so either. But there is a considerable amount on the hype who did.

Speak for yourself.

Given how some of this recent news has been sprung, I have a feeling some people will be surprised.
Same. Everybody is depressed about any given franchise. lol He thinks it's depressing to be a Superman fan and I think it's depressing to be a Spider-Man fan. I got the first Superman movie I legit liked so I'm doing fine on that front. Three Spider-Man movies in a row that I consider bad is just a major downer to me. I sympathize with him but don't agree. I cannot wait until the Webbverse is over. It will happen after The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Batman and Robin Edition comes out.

Time for some Black Cat... Uma Thurman style. :o

$4M away from Cap's opening. No biggie.

The difference is that while TWS improved significantly following TFA and in April, to boot, TASM2 opened less than the previous movie and it's in the most coveted weekend of the summer. Oh, and Spider-Man is obviously more popular than Cap in the public consciousness.

SM3 regained the opening weekend record over POTC2. The response was hug despite negative reviews. However once people saw the film, that's when the fallout happened. SM3 had terrible legs and only amassed $336, which was barely more than Iron Man made the following year on a much smaller open.

SM3 went againt Shrek 3 and Pirates 3 in the third and fouth weekend. Both opened with $126 million. It was the first time that three >$100 million opener in one month and >$300 million movies from the same month happened.
Shrek 3 did nearly the same business than the whole boxoffice one year later in Iron Man's third weekend. And SM3 dropped only 50%. TASM 1 felt 69% against TDKR...

Speaking as a fan for fans, is a fickle game imo.

It would be like me; not thinking much of these recent Thor films, then going on to suggest that thor fans are enduring bad/sad/harsh times. When clearly there are plenty of 'fans' that are fully enjoying it. So whom is it I presume to speak for? Some class of fans? Or perhaps simply people that feel as I do. And I wouldn't be so bold as to claim this group 'the fans'.

The only 'fans' I would maybe feel bad for are the ones that are seeing their properties be over looked, and perhaps those that are seeing their properties universally mocked. That's a big perhaps on the latter.

But that's me.

Hahaha. Is it wrong that I like watching Batman and Robin on occasion?

I find that movie highly enjoyable.

I also sympathise with you on MOS. It is defenatly flawed but I'd take it any day over the Donner or Singer version.

91.6mil is an okay opening for this particular film and it's only okay provided it doesn't have disastrous legs. The weekdays will tell us a little about where it is headed.

A lesson I learned here.

Fans will always pretend their opinions are always the majority. Take this from someone who thought it was decent/ok. The fans and GA thought it was good!
