GOTG has a different appeal to it and it will draw the interests of movie goers. And then they will see it and find out its connection to the Avengers and how things are being setup especially when they see Thanos. Besides the movie itself looks great. I never read any GOTG comics and don't know much about them but I know where they fit in the overall MCU big picture and that alone got my attention.

If we are going by arcs from the books, there are several of interest.

- Kraven's Last Hunt
- A Death in the Family
- Death of Jean DeWolff
- Maximum Carnage
- The Sinister Six

And many major arcs from Spider-Man canon have found their way into the five films.

No, it just means the actual was on par with the estimates. It still had a worse third weekend drop than Spider-Man 3.

Well okay for a lesser known comic book movie? Not, for a movie that was pretty much king of the CBMs.

meaning it is doing okay?
It just means Sonys estimate of the weekend just gone was correct, not a comment on how well it's doing, especially overall.

So at present we are expecting Sinister 6. I would be really interested in Kraven's Last Hunt but I doubt they can do it right. I remember loving Maximum Carnage when it 1st came out, not sure how I'd feel if I read it now. Weren't there about 15 characters involved meaning the already high budget would explode, and I remember reading many people didn't like that story. I'd be happy if they did it otherwise, although I don't think anything is going to work in the short term as I think the US audience is largely going to sit the next one out whatever they do.

Sony is lying if they say that they are doing well for this film. They put out what 5 trailers, added an A list star in Jamie Foxx, gave you 3 villains, and they got beat to ****ing Neighbors in the second week? An R rated comedy tops Spidey? I'm sure Sony saw that coming.

172 million as it stands now? This film well struggle to get to 200 million.

Still, SM-3 made more money than TASM 2 will ever see. :woot:

I bet Shailene is happy as hell that they decided to cut her from the film. I find it heavily ironic that people expected Divergent to flop but it was a success & TASM 2 was the flop.

Quite the turn of the tables. :cwink:

Divergent got worse critic reviews though. Anyway, this movie is hardly a flop. They are looking at about 20% or $150 million profit as it stands. Most movies would be jealous.

Okay for a film that doesn't have a 255mil budget.

yeah and I found it funny that they said they want to sign Garfield up for 4 more spidey films because of the huge success of the franchise so far! do they not look at the boxoffice numbers lol

I think they want to keep Garfield around for more films because the critics have really praised his performance in both the films. Plus, even the GA seems to really like him as Spidey even if they did not like the movie as a whole.

Use Kraven next. That can reduce fx budget
that what I think kraven hunting spiderman and black cat as a anti-hero who helps spiderman take down kraven in the end that would keep your budget down to about the 170mill range and be interesting black cat would bring in more females

Well, while the box office numbers are declining in domestic, they are increasing in foregin. So it isn't nearly as bad as it looks. There is only a slight decrease overall, so they can easily adjust the budget and still make a ton of money going forward on every film. And each film they make money on they have a larger pool where a loss on the next one won't matter as much.

Spider-man is still huge for them and a safer bet than other franchises when it comes to box office. It's one of their best bets and least risk when it comes to making money, even with the current trend.

im okay with him its just that the studio is acting like this movie is making a ton of money and is a huge success

Thats because it is. $150 million is nothing to sneeze at. If the last film made them around $300 million in proft, and this adds another $150, that brings total profit to $450 million for the reboot.

They are now positive $450 million since 2012, it's easy to take risks continuing a franchise that has already brought in that much cash in 2 years. Now they can adjust the budgets going forward to brings profits back up higher again.

true but they make more money of the domestic gross witch in going down further and further with each movie

I don't think even Sony can spin it that way. The daily star website may just be spreading a rumor

they were looking for more than a 150mill profit when the pumped in a 255mill budget and 130mill in marketing so the 150 mill profit number you keep saying is bogus captain America should not be outgrossing spiderman domestically

Sure it's always nice to make like 500 million dollars on a movie instead of 150 million, but very VERY few movies ever get close to doing that. What other films does the studio have that brings in this much cash? Comapred to their other movies, this is still a huge success. It's not like they can't turn things around and make even more money on future sequels. They already have a plan for the franchise that they think will do just that, now they just execute it.

150 million is not bogus. Sources have stated at 750 million WW box office the movie would make 20% of that in profit.

didn't they think they were gonna make more money with this one than the first one?they thought putting 3 villains in was going to make more money they were wrong.you have a lot of confidence that they are going to get it right next film
