I like how Avengers is super unrealistic but somehow but lizard men and spider powers are serious business.

I see your point. Wasn't trying to make it seem like TASM was completely serious. Just pointing out the differences in tone. Got a bit carried away, I guess.

yeah I dont get it, to me they are about the same in terms of believablitiy and tone. I hear people say ASM is too dark to be a Spider-Man movie too...drives me nuts. Its really not that dark or serious. It just tackles the material with a bit more realism and less cheese also we dont have a parker that sounds like a leave it to beaver episode.

what is so different about the tones of the movies? both have some serious moments and some light moments. ASM is just a more personal story because it revolves around this one kids story.

Guys, please don't jinx this film by saying it's going to have a lighter tone than the first one.

As for the Avengers, everybody in that group has a dramatically different personality than Peter. I think the dynamic could be interesting, with Peter being hesitant and keeping his distance from the others. Peter bringing his outsider aspect to the group could be interesting.

"Oh, boy, Yeah."

"Mary Jane Watson. Oh, boy"

I agree with you with you on that. I always felt that the Raimi films were 60's Spider-Man movies based in modern times.

The Avengers comes off as more of an action film, while I think of the Spider-Man trilogies as drama first action second films. The Spider-Man trilogies are more emotional.

I enjoyed The Avengers btw and I think the concept is rad.

I wouldn't consider TASM to be dark. It's just more mature and not as cheesy as the older ones. It would fit in really well with the MCU movies in terms of tone, perhaps more than any other non Marvel Studios movie.

I don't understand why people think that making a story not silly/cheesy and wanting the audience to take it seriously =/= dark and brooding like Batman and Punisher. That's really not the case.

As for how the damage in Manhattan was fixed, damages like those are fixed in just a few weeks in the Marvel universe.

Shorter hair and normal clothes this time! Good!

The Spider-Man books (and even the 90's cartoon to a considerable extent) were very dark at times, so I dunno where that standard of 'too dark' comes from.

Hey guys. Need advice. live near the bensonhurst area. huge fan of the picture. would love to visit the set in an attempt to say hi and take pics and watch scenes. may sound lame, yes. but im enthused about this and love the process of filmmaking and just observing. people that have gone there today. how did it go? would you recommend other fans go? are the people there over bossy or jerks. was it a good experience? THanks.

I'm loving the new suit...but i do feel like im missing the original one.

Definitely go take a look. Not once have I heard someone coming out an experience like this with a bad story. People who happened to run into Garfield have said nothing but good things.

Following both TDKR and TASM I heard/saw (from pictures) nothing but really awesome stories on how nice the actors and the production team were.

I'm partial to this hairstyle for her. To me it would've been way more 'MJ'.

I don't interpret grammar nitpicking and sarcasm as 'friendly'. Emoticons can be used for a variety of purposes.

Well, then my apologies to both of you. That's not what I intended and I'll try to avoid it in the future. :)

Been reading that this Spider-Man will be joining the Avengers. Any truth to this?

I, for one, hope it isn't.

New York was wrecked in the Avengers. How could they possibly reconcile the two?

It's a rumour that keeps popping up. There's no real truth to it as far as I know, but Webb sorta stirred that one up again with a vague clue to something which some probably misinterpreted as a future crossover with the MCU.

I personally believe you could explain why we didn't see Spidey if they were to later on merge TASM into the MCU without too much bother. But that's just my personal view.

Wait, when did that happen?

Couldn't agree with you more. Toby Maguire's Peter Parker was very "golly gee whiz" and even his relationship with Ben and May was like an old 50's-60's sitcom, but that was Raimi's exposure to the comics, his generation, being breathed to life. Webb is more the 80's-today. "SM3" when Venom was being considered to be brought in, Raimi was totally against the idea because he didn't grow up with that particular character or that era of Spider-Man stories. He was classic. Webb is today.

And not to bash on Raimi or his trilogy because I love them, but Webb seems to have a better head on his shoulders in looking at everything in a bigger, broader sense. It's like a chess board. He's moving pieces forward, setting up for something astounding. With the inclusion of two villains this movie could fall on its face and everything he hoped and dreamed of doing with a Spider-Man sequel could prove disastrous but hopefully he'll have better editors this time out because that was my only complaint with "ASM" was the editing. Everything else worked for me.

Wait, when did that happen?

It was due to his "think bigger" tweet to some guy (I can't recall what the guy asked). Some thought that Webb might be planning to merge Spidey with the MCU and some are guessing he's making his own Spider-man universe with these movies. Both are just guesses at this time, though one is arguably more likely than the other.

Didn't he retweet that article with the "Think bigger" message?

everyone has assumed he was talking about connecting spiderman to the MCU, which would be awesome and i hope it happens but actually he may just mean he was dropping seeds in this film for future storys and characters

Either one would be pretty darn cool. I'd love to see Spidey, Cap, Iron Man, and the Hulk in the same movie. Or at least Spidey and Hulk. It'd be cool to see Tony Stark and him interacting. "What is this kid? 12? Uhm, Mister Fury, Sir, did you put Bieber on our team? I'm a belieber and all that good stuff bu-" Peter interrupts him and corrects him on one of his scientific theories like a wise-A.
Don't worry ;)

This is brilliant.

Yeah, I think seeing RDJ's Tony Stark interact with Spider-man would be great. Especially if written by Joss Whedon.

Though personally I've always dreamed of a Spider-man and Wolverine or Spider-man and the X-men team up movie. I always wanted to see how those sort of situations would play out on screen.

Thank you! I have mild interest in becoming a writer. :oldrazz:

Oh heck yes. Spidey and Wolverine would be hilarious. I really want to see Spidey interact with Nightcrawler though. The real nightcrawler like the one from the comics, that is.
