The Verdict
As the credits rolled, all I could think of was the cover of Amazing Spider-Man 33. Its one of the most famous, and a defining moment in the history of the character. Spider-Mans being crushed under the weight of a collapsing lab. He needs to escape in order to cure his dying Aunt.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 does something similar: in order to set up future films and potential spin-offs, it puts so much machinery into motion that it threatens to crush our hero. Too much screen time is devoted elsewhere, which is definitely a concern going forward. But ultimately, due to strong performances by Garfield, Stone, and DeHann, and some great action and sincere moments, Spider-Man is strong enough to survive. Just.
The verdict actually state:
I really do wonder if they read that line and agreed with it. I will see for myself but these complaints were never leveled at Avengers.
We haven't even racked up a dozen reviews yet I don't think. Most of them have been mixed. You can see a trend starting: http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/04...an-2-1329448?lt_source=external,manual,manual
But I think it's still too early to say definitively what way the wind's blowing.
I think we have a dozen reviews. 8 have already been posted on rotten tomatoes.
Apart from those, we have a mixed to positive review from denofgeek, a similar one from cinevue, negatives from mirror, indievire and ign
Quite disappointed in the reviews thus far. Though it wasn't unexpected.
I dislike any attention made for it being a reboot. It is, it happened, just move on and evaluate the movie on it's content alone while leaving pre-conceived notions and other films at the door.
Some of them fail at that and carry over opinions on the others films so they can't objectively and effectively evaluate this as it's own movie.
IGN also gave Spiderman 2 a 7/10, when to me it's at least 8 or 9/10:

Perhaps in that same vein, their 6.9/10 for TASM2 will also be an 8 or 9 for me. One would also argue the difference between 6.9 and 7 is negligible, where film reviews are concerned.
Electro doesn't sound like the most compelling villain. Funnily enough, it's DeHaan's Harry who's getting the most praise, go figure.
Mostly becauseHe's the main villain, I never thought once during the film, Electro is the main villain at all especially towards the end.he kills Gwen.
