Wow! This Spider-man stuff is like a rollercoaster ride. I mean I have been hyped for a lot of things on these boards, but I don't think I have ever been so hyped about something with so much ambiguity surrounding it as Spider-man possibly coming back to Marvel. I would be equally hyped, if Fantastic Four returned also, but right now it seems like Spidey is the odds on favorite despite so many problems surrounding the Fantastic Four movie. If both ended up returning to Marvel though, I would be so ecstatic that I don't think I could contain myself.

Funny you should say that, because this was just posted on **************.com

Fox Reportedly Unhappy With Josh Trank's "Mess" Of A FANTASTIC FOUR Movie

Just a rumor though.

Edit: It seems the link is broken.

Imagine the MCU Spidey hanging out with the MCU Johnny Storm :hubba

Well very recent reports would suggest f4 is in a more disastrous place than we even thought, so the reverting of it's rights sounds even more likely right now.

And yea, the ups and downs and the ambiguity are crazy. I'm so excited and at the same time worried!

Imagine the MCU Spider-Man with the MCU Johnny Storm fighting Beetle and/or Sandman in a Marvel Team-Up film.

Could someone please explain to me why we can't post CBM links or why we can't even mention them?

I really wish we could get some official news on what it going to take place. I realize that a couple of screenwriters playing coy about the topic probably suggests this is happening, but I'd still prefer to get some legit confirmation.

If the deal is a reality, I wonder how much of push the leaked emails gave to Sony to get the deal cemented? I'm not one for hacking, but imo those emails may have proven to be the best thing that could have happened.

On a scale of 1 to Juggernaut?

What about the grinning and vague answers clues you guys in on the deal going through? I'm curious.

I think the theory is that if Spidey coming home isn't a possibility there would be frowning instead of smiling.

Well other sources have conflicting views on the tone of the answer, so who knows.

But the grinning and the answer are very reminiscent to other times when directors, writers or producers were hiding things pertaining to their films. Also, if the deal had no chance, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be straight and just answer the question. He just kept repeating the line "more problems for me!" with a grin on his face (according to ign, that is)

Edit: as for some examples, look up any interview with Marc Webb where he's asked if felicity jones is black cat. (Well technically we still don't know her character's last name)

I remember that. Both Webb and Jones were very coy and playfully vague. But, remember when Marion Cotillard said she was playing Miranda Tate, and only Miranda Tate?

Yup, and I also remember denials on her role as Talia from all over warner bros. They straight up lied. So for people who are still worried about sony's denial, keep that in mind.

Wasn't there that set report leak when Talia stabbed Batman prior to TDKR's release? So, it's no secret, even a studio like WB, which is a far more reputable studio than Sony at this point, can lie their butts off about their tentpoles.

I think it is pretty clear that things are happening. The degree to which the negotiations are progressing is probably debatable, but I'd say they are in the home stretch most likely. The important points here are obviously money and creative control and since there are ways to concede things monitarily, I'd say the real sticking point is control. That said, this is something that Marvel absolutely must have, they cannot enter into an agreement where they don't have creative control over Spidey and his associated characters. He is coming into their world so they need to ensure continuity is priority.

I think the way they deal with this is for Marvel to basically make Sony a sub-contractor for Spider-Man films. Someone is the project manager in a sense (Drew Goddard?) for all Spidey characters and they report back to Feige. Sony can hire writers for scripts but final approval must go to Marvel. Sony gets a majority take on all films they produce, something like 70/30, but they also get maybe a 15% take when a Spidey character is used in a Marvel Studios film. The numbers would obviously be pretty different, I'm just guessing, but this is a framework.

In addition, Marvel could sweeten the pot by offering a list of characters that Sony could produce movies with, for example Cloak & Dagger or Spider-Woman. These are characters that Marvel doesn't currently have on their schedule but could be further used by Sony to expand the MCU. Though the time limit with which to work with these characters could be limited. Similar revenue sharing applies.

This is just my thoughts on an example of how this could get done, but of course there are others. However it goes, I think it happens.

(I actually may have to take back my previous post, I can't find a link to Nolan or any of the writers or actors besides cottilard denying talia. My memory mixes things up from time to time)

But yea, studios will always deny things before giving official announcements. It's been this way for years. I'm not saying sony was definitely lying last night, but there's a very good chance they were

Yeah, I think Cotillard was the only one that was asked, so she was the only one that denied it. If there was nothing to the Civil War rumors, I'd think that there would be an outright denial during the interview rather than an evasion.

His response definitely would've consisted of more than 4 words if something wasn't up.
