The range of emotions on these boards the past few days has been crazy.

First, the El Mayimbe rumor hits and:

Then, Sony denies the rumor:

Then the Civil War interview puts everyone back to:

And now everything's died back down. I hope this doesn't wind up giving us all bipolar disorder. :whatever:

I already have bipolar disorder.

Just kidding :cwink:

I think people are getting to into this, just be calm and wait for a official announcement.

Just checking in. This not knowing is frustrating. A deal with Marvel seems to be the most logical course of action. Really hope this is all a matter of just ironing the details.

At this point, it would be VERY disappointing if there is no deal...

I would also consider it a disappointment if a deal was not struck. Also depends on the outcome of the deal itself too.

By now I wish we knew officially if we could just slink off sad or get all jazzed.

I agree. I'm reserving any excitement or sadness for an official announcement. It's tough to remain so neutral, trying to hold out for the final word.

This is going to end up being the death of me if I dont get any official word soon. I wake up go on my phone and my heart pounds very hard everytime I open facebook to see if an announcements been made lol

How big is the drop-off? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 generated an estimated $24.5 million in box office profit for Sony last year, down 88% from an estimated $200.9 million for the 2002 breakout hit Spider-Man. Marvel's minuscule share of the box office and DVD proceeds from that first Spider-Man film -- just $10.4 million in licensing fees, according to the company's 10-K annual filing for 2002 -- started the comic book king down the path toward creating the hit-making studio we know today.

Just got caught up on the Civil War update.

If this is true and we get Spidey in the MCU as soon as 2016, this deal will be the best thing to ever happen to the character.

I will personally send a thank you letter to Sony if that happens. That's how bad I want to see Spidey in CW.

So the guys at Motley Fool are estimating that after overhead tasm2 looks to have only made a bit less than 25 million. Sony has no place making a sequel and god forbid a spinoff with those numbers. To compare, Spiderman (2001) made 200 million in profits. It's been declining since. Their numbers aren't just going to magically go up. The next film they make will lose money unless they make that deal.

Man, they really allocated their budget well.

That's a great idea. Sony's been getting torn apart by the fans so much for doing stupid, stupid, things, and rightly so. Giving positive feedback directly to Sony when they do something good would be a good way to let them know that the fans really do appreciate the new direction. Of course, a well written e-mail explaining why as a fan you can't support Aunt May the spy would also be good if they go in a terrible direction.

Btw, I feel this is appropriate to post here considering most of our Hype is based off this guys tweets, my condolences go out to El Mayimbe. I recommend reading his twitter, he wrote up a really nice tribute for his friend.

Ah that sucks. Imagine how that feels.

Don't take financial advice from sony :oldrazz:

Hello, children! Today's letter of the day is U. Let's learn a word that starts with U: understatement! Can you say understatement, children?

Dang, that's really sad. I've got nothing, just can offer condolences.

This sums up my feelings about the rumor and the denial.

You know what, I think right now, I'd rather see Spider-Man in MCU than Sony to release a bunch of Spidey-spin-offs/TASM3, so in the future its just gonna be Marvel Studios and Fox when it comes to making these Marvel based films.
