I don't mind Webb as a director. Visually he has done some great things, and the main problems of the TASM movies comes from the script. Could they do better? Yeah, they could also do worse. I think the studio made it easy for themselves to get a young & inexperienced director with only 1 movie under his belt, so that they could easier get their own ideas into the movie.

It's because, when ToyBiz bought Marvel in the 90s, Venom was at the height of his popularity. So its natural that he thinks Venom is Spidey's most popular villain. Because, at the time, HE WAS!
