This is huge! What scares me is that Tom Rothman is waiting in the wings, and of course Avi.

Lol imagine Avi Arad doing the Venom cinematic universe:
Venom
Venom v Carnage
Planet Venom
Venom the lethal protector...
The possibilities are endless

Avi will probably make a documentary about himself coming up with a Venom cinematic universe.

This is more a plus than a minus by far for those of us wanting a MCU Spider-man.

It's gonna get hot in here.

" after i started the MCU and they rejected me i said, i'll make my own cinematic universe with the rich universe of the best anti hero there is... Venom, Avengers pfft Venom is way more popular than them he sells more toys than the Avengers"

I think when Sony Pictures announces a new chairman, it's likely going to be Jeff Robinov (or Tom Rothman). Robinov has close ties with several prolific directors and cultivated development of several big WB franchises during his tenure there. He's fiercely loyal to his talents, to a fault.

What better way of getting back at his rival Kevin Tsujihara? Robinov running Sony Pictures would be a huge step forward in some respects.

Robino and Rothman taking Pascal's place would likely kill the chances of the deal happening. The only way it wouldn't is if Kaz Hirai vetoed them, and ordered it to happen. Which, if rumors are true, is happening.

Well I really hope that Kaz Hirai wants it to happen. His voice matters most.

Pascal is out officially now. One stumbling block out of the way.

Amy isn't officially gone from Sony - she's heading a new production division under Sony - and will still have control over the Spider-Man franchise as producer.

Pascal will launch a major new production venture at the studio. Pascal, whose deal was up in March, will transition to the new venture in May. As part of the deal, she will be a producer on the new Ghostbusters film as well as future Amazing Spider Man outings.

Well that's unfortunate. I wonder if she will be producer in name only though.

Probably. I hope Kaz Hirai is still twisting Sony's arm into getting the deal done.
I just hope that the article didn't "confirm" a deal not going through. They mentioned she would produce future Amazing Spider-Man movies... ugh.

That doesn't necessarily mean the deal isn't happening. Maybe they just meant future Spider-Man movies, but used the current series' name. Who knows?

True, that's probably what it means.

IIRC, Pascal was never in a position of creative control for the franchise. And, I believe she was considering the deal back in October, but she was unwilling to let go of Garfield and Arad. So, at least she's not completely stubbornly against it. Especially considering the distinct possibility of Hirai forcing SPE to make the deal happen.

You're welcome.

I'm tempted to make that my new avatar.

Honestly if Hirai wants the deal to get made then it will get made. I wish we would get some kind of news already!

I think that's just an assumption on the part of the writer. The press release makes no mention of the Spider-Man films.

So don't take that as confirmation.

Very good point. I'm just sort of worried about this deal not going through.

Prepare yourselves for the Avi Cinematic Universe

'Venom v Carnage: Dawn of Action Figures' and 'Spidercide Squad' coming in 2016
