Not even that, all they really have to do is make one great film.

Just look at the difference in response in between X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class. The fans were won over by a single film.

That's what I meant, haha.

Ok, the amy pascal thing is absolutely huge. Her departure means no one is left to keep Arad around. This is pretty big

Isn't that how it was with X-Men, though?

After TLS and Origins, everyone was pleading and begging for the rights to go back to Marvel only to be introduced to First Class which made a lot of people stop and scratch their head.

So, they simmered down on that.

It wasn't long until The Wolverine happened where fans started up again, pleading and begging until they were silenced by DOFP which fixed everything and now not a single person (Well, maybe not extreme) wants them to go back to Marvel yet as they wait in anticipation for Apocalypse, Gambit, and of course Deadpool.

Maybe that could happen with TASM? Eh, seems unlikely at this point.

thats because fox had faith in the director they chose. The same cannot be said for Sony.

And oh my gosh, if Belgrade takes the reigns of sony, the deal is pretty much 100%

Fun fact: there's a Twitter account called @Spiderman and the location says NYC then marvel.com.

Guys, could we stop accusing Daltonio of being a troll please? Like, right this instant? Try to put yourself in his shoes, think of how he feels about all this, then getting accused of trolling on top of it just because he wants Spidey to stay at Sony. Let's practice some empathy here.

No 'Graves, he is an obvious troll because he is supporting what he feels is doing the character justice!! :argh: :oldrazz:

Nah, if I was him, I wouldn't even give some of the posts a thought because at the end of the day, your opinion is what should matter most.

That's why I admire him, he tirelessly advocates for something he damn well knows he's in the minority on. That. Does. Not. Make. Him. A. Troll. Hell, I had the same exact opinion he did prior to reading the emails.

Amy Pascal has officially stepped down

A premature celebration. She's still at Sony as a producer. She's producing that god awful looking Ghostbusters movie.

As did I, I even constructed a little blueprint of where I would've liked to see TASM go and I still hold onto my opinion that TASM2 is the best Spider-Man yet in terms of what it gave me as a fan (though as a film? That's definitely debatable :oldrazz:).

I hope he never gets discouraged about being on these forums, though.
They can be a doozy sometimes.

Very well put man :yay:

Thanks, fellow webhead! :woot:

I hate the hostility and defensiveness that goes on around here. Then again, it's an internet forum, should I expect anything less? :oldrazz:. And I agree wholeheartedly with you on TASM2. As a fan, it gave me almost everything I wanted. As a film, well, that's a bit trickier.

Guys you need to understand. Just because DOFP brought the X-Men back doesn't mean it was easy.

09 - Fox had Origins Wolverine, ****ing sucked
11 - Fox had First Class. Did great reception wise, wasn't a huge hit.
13 - Fox had The Wolverine. Did Ok reception wise and ok box office wise.

It took 2 good films so to speak to bring the X-Men back and then we got DOFP which truly brought X-Men back to a household name.

It took Batman 8 years and a reboot and then 3 more years to get him back to the top with Dark Knight.

The problem with Sony is instead of using their time wisely, they are rushing.

Well said. That's about how I feel, I liked TASM2, despite it's flaws, and still believe it to be the best on-screen adaptation of Spider-man. I also had my own blueprint of where I hoped the franchise was going. But when TASM2 failed at the box office, Sony panicked and started throwing anything and everything at the wall to see what stuck, and now here I am, rooting for some mad scientest-esque guy to take over Sony Entertainment so Spidey can go to the MCU.

Yeah, hence why I'm not always on the forums as much (and why I didn't get to tell my little story in the group yet).

Yup, that's definitely me as well.

As much as I am a fan of TASM as a whole, I'm perfectly comfortable with Spidey going to the MCU under a reboot with a fresh start.
(Despite how much I'll miss Garfield in the role since he was the perfect PP/Spidey at the wrong time :csad:)

And that's why we're here now.

Another shame, considering if they had mapped out what was originally wanted (created, in some cases with Webb) and had not meddled/interfered, we could've had a pretty good-great franchise overall. Obviously, I still feel as though the series was great for what it was, but I won't argue with anyone who sees differently.

TASM2 was the lowest grossing Spidey film and to add insult to injury, the critics panned it

of course sony panicked and scrambled to try and make things work. They need to look themselves in the mirror and realize that they were the problem the whole time.

I guarantee TASM2 would've been an ok movie if they let webb do his thing without the constant micromanaging by Avi Arad and Sony higher ups.

Seems like total company PR to me. They had to do something with Amy to look good and have a "structural reform" for spiderman. They can kill two birds at least with one stone with this move and I think, if anything, it actually points to the spiderman rights still being with sony.

Some people still have this vague hope that Song Japan are going to swoop in and create the exact situation they want and that really isn't how the real world works.

To me it seems pretty clear that sony have made a business case for the spiderman franchise to the big wigs, part of that was the completely superfluous "step-down" of Pascal into a production position on the major franchises.

People have really selective brains when it comes to this stuff and try to subconsciously form this reality where X or Y will happen but the reality is this deal can point to 10000 different things. I think it's more likely that it'll align with a business fantasy then a fanboy fantasy though

Maybe they got rid of Amy because her vision of Spider-Man in the future included Avi and Garfield?

But-Thats-None-Of-My-Business.jpg

I'm a bit confused as to how I should feel about this news in regards to the deal happening. Is Pascal stepping down good news? Bad news? Somewhere in between?
