Day 2: still no announcement.
Its like 8 in the morning the day is young. january is gonna be a nail bitting month for us spidey fans. We get the avengers trailer on jan 19th wouldnt it be awesome if they revealed spidey in the trailer !:wow:

Ah yea ok.... The summit was rumored on the 19th... got that mixed up.

It's now nearly summer of 2016, the weather is getting hot, and still no word of this Spidey summit.

When was ASM officially announced after canning SM4? I specifically remember SM4 closing for Christmas and then reboot news in the new year.

How cool would it be if they announced January 11th that Spidey was going back to Marvel?

How do we know the summit is January 19th? Is there a link confirming that?

Bring forward the summit?
Sony need to think about the situation. Currently the franchise is in a weak position, they can essentially 'loan out' Spider-Man and have Spider-Man be involved in the pivotal moment of MCU movies which will put the shine back on Spider-Man and return the character to his perch of being one of the most popular comic book movie characters. Five years later they can take the character on again once they have sorted out their studio.

That was the date in the leaked email. Obviously that date can change especially now the date is widely known.

In fact, they should start having the summit right now on this very day.

Friday? Naw. Monday makes more sense. Friday people are just thinking about the weekend.

Perfect! Then those at Sony can say, "Yea, yea, just let Marvel make them, yea. Good. Whatever. See you Monday!"

It's going to be a long January and heartbreaking if the Marvel deal doesn't happen.

All the articles I've found, including the Wall Street Journal's, just say January.

Edit: found the first time the date appeared in the forum

it is happening soon-ish...January 19 or something like that...then either they keep doing this movies, reboot or give the rights back to marvel

Ok, I guess I must if missed it.

Thanks for the links. It's weird though, because I don't remember reading anywhere that the summit will be on the 19th of January. Could just be my memory failing me though haha.

The last part of the article is laughable. The "story comes first " is clearly a crock of crap. Clearly money comes first for Sony as they've demonstrated since Spider-Man 3.

I hope money is still their biggest motivator, though. Because if it is, and if they have any sense about them, they'll know dealing with Marvel Studios through a sell off or profitable agreement is the smart, lucrative move.

Marvel gaining 100% of the rights is and will always be my first choice, but as long as they're somewhat involved I guess that's a good consolation. Sony retaining 100% of the rights and continuing with another reboot would be terrible...

Worse than ASM continuing?

I don't think TASM will be continuing considering everything that happened with Garfield. If they recast they might as well reboot.

Never say never.
You honestly think TASM is going to continue on without Garfield? He's one of the only good things left about the franchise. They'll crucify it without him and Emma.
