Homecoming The Amazing Spider-Man 3 General Discussion

That's because he's living by the credo of with great power comes great responsibility. His life as Spider-Man has become his number one priority, and because of that things in his personal life suffer like his studies, his jobs, and relationships with women and friends.

It's got nothing to do with him not being a nerd or a geek any more.

Yes, he changed. First, he grew selfish and got a big head after becoming Spidey. But, he grew up the night his Uncle Ben died. His life, priorities, personality, and goals all changed. The old Peter died. So, when you show a picture of Spidey before the bite and say that is who he is. I would say your are completely wrong. That Peter no longer exists.

Peter's social life didn't suffer because of his personality or from being awkward, it suffered because he was too busy being Spider-man. Even then, he eventually got it sorted out and gained friends in college.

Also, he changed so much that he became a girl magnet in highs school after being Spidey for a little while. Liz lost interest in Flash completely over Peter and he had Betty Brant all over him. He was suspected that was seeing even more women when going out to be Spidey. Thats the kind of guy he became. If he was such a nerd, Betty wouldn't assume he could get all these women.

First of all it took years for him to become friends with Flash. Even when he first met Gwen and Harry neither of them liked him, and it took time for that to develop into a friendship, or in Gwen's case a relationship.

Which is why the character works best as a tv series whether than a movie since his mythos of him and the characters are very huge

For the umpteenth time that picture was a visual representation of how similar Peter and Otto looked before they got their powers and became what they are.

They both share a lot of traits. Both are Science nerds, bullied in school, grew up in middle class New York, and the gaining of their powers both gave them a whole new level of confidence. Only Peter turned hero and Otto turned villain. They are perfect mirror images of each other. That's why Ock was Spider-Man for the last two years. He was the perfect candidate. He's Peter mirror image.

Obviously the shy repressed lonely Peter no longer exists. He's a strong, confident Peter now, but still very much a nerd and geek at heart. Always has been, always will be. Something every version of the character has incorporated bar TASM.

Are you actually reading the words I'm typing? I said;

I never mentioned anything about his life suffering because he was awkward after he became Spider-Man.

Nearly every major comic book hero from Batman to Iron Man to Cap to the X-Men has decades worth of material in their mythos and they manage to do a good job with their movies and characters.

There's no excuse for the TASM movies not to.

Ok, cool. We are on the same page. Except for one thing, I find Webb's version to be much better match to Peter from the comics than Raimi's.

I think Webb kind of incorporated Peter's personality from all era's of the comics into the version we see in the movie. While Raimi took pre-Spider bite Peter and kept him that way.

Man, this is the most active these forums have been in some time. It's nice to see a little discussion. :)

I'm talking about length. The mythos of the series has had a widely variety of characters it's insane and even had some important roles in their lives. I mean in all of the original cuts from both franchises the movies were very very long in terms of the mythos and characters which is also the reason x-men works better as a television series than a movie

That's where we differ. I could never see pre spider bite Peter standing up to Flash Thompson when he is bullying someone, or having girls come up to him and ask him and politely ask him for favors etc. I won't even get started on how casually he revealed his identity to Gwen, and so soon after meeting her. Something Peter would never do. He was always so protective of his identity. Paranoid about anyone finding out who he was. If he ever did decide to tell anyone, it was a big deal that was not done so quickly or casually.

I'm going to refrain from any Raimi comparisons because it's off limits here. I'd advise you to drop it, too. The mods clamp down on it.

I'm not sure what you mean by length. Batman and Superman have been around longer by two decades for example. The variety of characters is no greater either. Well I'd say Batman and Spidey have better villains than Superman.

What's wrong with a girl politely asking someone for help?

Nothing. It's not about the girl asking for a favor, it's the fact that a girl was interacting with him at all and in such a casual way. Can you think of an instance in the comics where anything like that happened with Peter pre spider bite?

I believe that's how most girls act like and trust me it mostly aint for hunks

You're missing the point. It's not about the girl's behavior, it's the fact that a girl went up to Peter in the first place and was so casual and friendly like she was.

Someone who is deemed an outcast or what ever doesn't get interactions like that. That's what Peter is supposed to be. Hence why I asked you can you think of any time when something like that happened to Peter pre spider bite. Since you didn't mention anything I'm assuming you can't. I can't either. That's why it stands out as an out of character trait for Peter. Just like how he stood up to Flash's bullying of other students.

Other people may do that, but pre spider bite Peter would never have. That's what we're talking about here. How Garfield's Peter is off the mark of the comic book Peter.

So Mysterio

His fish bowl will need a redesign. He looks like a roll on deodorant.

Sorry I was just stressed out and distracted. I just needed to make this quick since I'm watching a walking dead game by telltale and i cant type out everything i plan on typing so I'll say this:just because you're an outcast or some others view you as an outcast doesn't mean everyone cannot like you nor even be nice to you. It was just some normal girl asking Peter for a favor very politely. She wasnt attracted to him nor acted like she was. She was just some girl. For Pete's sake(no pun intended) I was treated badly in school and not everyone treated me like ****. Infact even the Ones who get treated way worse than I do get treated well with other people.

As long as it's a redesign of the fish bowl, and not completely taken away.

Spider-Knight, the scene was a statement that Peter was not some loser outcast that nobody talked to or approached at all. Granted the girl talked to him because she wanted something from him, but the point was that people were politely and willingly interacting with Peter, when Peter pre spider bite in the comics was an outcast that nobody would give the time of day to.

You keep making real life analogies to yourself when they have nothing to do with the points we're discussing. If you can cite any instances like this from the comics, then please do so. Otherwise your personal references have no point here.

As long as it's a redesign of the fish bowl, and not completely taken away.

Naturally. It's an iconic part of his costume.

That's right, you need to make mysterio in character from both quinton beck and mysterio

All I'm saying is that it aint that big of a deal. It really didn't break his character that much. Heck, as long as he's not treated as a hunk in high school and in life then that's fine.

Naturally. It's an iconic part of his costume.
I agree which is why I prefer a purple smoke with a skull inside

Yeah so? It's because he stood up to Flash for picking on that other kid.

Nerds like Peter Parker, or rather the nerd Peter is supposed to be doesn't dress like that.

I don't care what's in the deleted scenes. I care about what we were given. That's what counts.
Peter also would totally kiss his sexy girlfriend in front of the whole school, all of his peers, his school officials, Aunt May and Gwen's mother at his graduation on stage at an important ceremony because these are things we all expect him to do. Men want to be him and women want to be with him. That was so modern day nerdy.

How would you like it?

I guess tone down the big dome shape, make it a shade darker to look more menacing.

Sounds like a bit of a Ghost Rider rip off. You have a pic of it?

Yeah that, too. I've never seen Peter do such a public display of affection like that in front of a huge crowd of spectators watching him. It's something RDJ's showboating Tony Stark would do.
