I GREATLY disagree. Sony was down for a Spider-Man 4 for a while and they then decided to reboot the franchise after Raimi kept trying to push the release date because he wasn't satisfied with the script/story. To say Sony wanted to reboot because of people thought S-M 3 was a letdown is something I don't agree with. Everything the studio has done shows otherwise that they wanted the reboot because of what the "public" wanted.

Well I guess we will agree to disagree. Of course it was a business decision but I won't believe they had a tin ear to the reception either. I believe it was a combination of both and you don't. That's cool

Yeah Anno is right. To think Sony scrapped SM4 because the Internet fanboys thought SM3 sucked is laughable.

It's more likely for them to just do one film than only two. Have you ever heard of films that plan for three and only for two? I haven't.

Plus, yes, they could try to go for a fourth and even fifth as Raimi's film series tried, but...I am betting we will see ANOTHER reboot in 2022 :whatever:
Fantastic Four. Daredevil and the Elektra prequel. It depends on the quality of the movie. If ASM gets a mediocre reception and the sequel sucks then it's done.

If they reboot again in 10 years...I will be fed up with Sony.

Elektra wasn't really a sequel(nor even a prequel since the film supposedly takes place AFTER she died in DD) to Daredevil and more like a spin-off, so I wouldn't bring those two up, and I totally forgot about Fantastic Four. Although, studios have learned from the mistake by Fox with the FF films. Such as Warner Brothers for example, they saw how Green Lantern flopped and decided not to go with a sequel and I think Sony would have done the same if TAS-M were to flop, and not try to redeem themselves as Fox did, or tried to at least.

I wouldn't be surprised if in ten years we find out that Sony decides to reboot Spidey again.

Isn't Sony Pictures at risk of going under? It would explain why we got sequels to everything they own.

I'd disagree with you on that. The gross for spider man 3 was incredibly front loaded. It made $150 mill the first weekend and dropped 61% after that. That's not good word of mouth and the CinemaScore is 54% which isn't good either. I wouldn't say it was liked at all, I'd say it was a decisive reaction and studios know that. They look at audience scores and exit polls and when you look at the numbers, those polls play out

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but you can't just go by the opening numbers. You're also describing Hunger Games with those numbers, which is clearly well liked. I would look more at video sales to determine how well liked SM 3 was.

4 minute preview next week? I said i wasn't going to watch any more footage after the last trailer but my goodness this is going to be hard.

Maybe is finished footage from the "untold story" event , and i really REALLY want to see something from that footage maybe Lizard bathroom scene?

It's quite obvious that the "This city needs you line." is from a dying Captain Stacy. Lookin' forward to that scene.

Though the lines are what a dying man would say,the tone looks too calm to be spoken by a dying man

Listen to that part of the TV spot carefully. He's actually straining a little to say it. Almost like he's out of breath... lol. It's a little subtle, but it's obvious that he's not fine when he says it.

Agreed. It kinda sounds like he is flexing his abs (or trying to take a dump) while saying it.

(or trying to take a dump)
What an unexpected and interesting twist in the story would that be. It'd be the much needed detail that would finally separate this movie from Raimi's trilogy.

Yes changing it just enough so that it differentiates from Raimi while being respectful to the source material

I'm a bit lost....what are you guys talking about that it would separate itself from Raimi's series?

That Captain Stacy shouldn't find that Peter is Spidey while dying. Instead, he should be taking a dump.

That's what they are saying, at least xD

Well....people do end up crapping in their pants at death, so...add another point to teh realism

I was wondering, has this topic been discussed before, and if not, could someone answer this for me? Thanks:

Like many have speculated it seems that Peter's dad may have had some involvement with the creation of the spiders that eventually led to peter turning into Spiderman; and there's also been speculation that Norman Osbourne, assuming if he's the guy telling peter via narration on "do you know who you are? What you are?" speech, it seems like he's well aware of the technology/science that created Peter's powers.

If that were the case, wouldn't that indicate that villains could easily replicate spiderman's powers into other individuals?

I was looking for a spiderman pic and i relaized this

Yeah I think it was Troy who pointed that out before, its even more obvious with the international poster though when his whole body is exactly the same pose just on an angle.

I love it coz that's one of my favourite Spidey images. :woot:
