But in order for it to look convincing, science has to be kept in mind.

Did you honestly think that they weren't going to use CGI in a Spider-Man movie?

And Marc said that it's only for certain shots.

As I said, I thought they would be using some, but with all the talk of the budget being lower, and a focus on realising him with practical stunts, I fear that I will be disapointed with the results. Spider-man is one of those characters whose action scenes, in the books as well as the movies, are really something else, his powers make him one of the most interesting heroes to see onscreen actionwise. the other 3 movies really did him justice, and I worry that with not as much money being utilised, I won't get those thrills onscreen.
But, y'know, we will see, I am hoping for the best with this movie.
I have more faith that they will get the drama right, put it that way. I think a lot of people took Raimi's action skills for granted, but I still remember how skeptical I was about them realising Spidey's powers onscreen, and he managed to get that onscreen perfectly.

Some of you guys are getting overexcited...

(begin sarcasm)

Suddenly, #AmazingSpiderMan stuff on Sunday. Great... #work

So, basically, RIM just got called in to do some marketing for TASM. Wonder what it is...

Exciting. I'll tweet him to make sure to share some deets if he can.

Also, I like your sig. Though, I think mine is better.

Why? because of lizard SWAT men?

That sure as hell didn't help, but no, it's mostly because nothing has been very exciting. The last exciting thing was the website which was only exciting for the first day or two.

According to most recent rumors, the total budget is around $220 million?

I can see why you'd be worried, but the budget for this movie is about 20 million dollars more than the budget for the first two Spider-Man movies, so relax. :woot:

Rhys Ifans himself has said it is. Now, I don't know how much information the actors get on stuff like the budget, but it's the best source we have, haha.

Thanks for posting.

Too expensive
How far did inflation go to differ the cost of making SM2 ($200 mill) and this one?

Ok, that is a bit more reassuring, i was wondering, I mean, I read what they were paying the actor, which was a relative pittance in this game, and sony are not selling as many Playstations these days...so...I was beginning to worry how much was put into the movie.

and Troy P....20 mil more than SM1 and 2, hmmm, with inflation, and with CG being cheaper to realise all the time, that might be ok, we might see a level of spectacle comparable to those movies, I hope so, because I am not one of these camp sitters, I am a Spider-man fan, I'd like to see a movie that I felt was a better SM film than the previous three, I will be surprised if it is though, hopefully it will be as good as the first one at least.

lol no.

Rhys Ifans mentioned a 160 million pounds, which is about 250 million dollars. He could be wrong of course, but I think it's a pretty safe bet to say this movie is over 200 million dollars.

Aziz, you're a very confusing poster.

Would you be happy if this movie was on a budget of 3 dollars or something?

As far as I'm concerned, bigger budget = better looking effects, etc.

Not really sure as to how it could be a bad thing.

Agreed. Plus, most of the money going towards this film is for the cgi sequences featuring the Lizard.

:funny:

What's wrong in making the same effects with high quality with a budget of $180 mil? They should try something like that

Because it might not be possible to do so?

Especially when you've got a movie where the main villain, in order to look... y'know, good, will have to be made almost entirely through CGI.

The first Spidey movie didn't even have a $180 million budget. I'm sure Sony made the right decision in not giving them a shoestring budget, not unless, y'know, they wanted Peter Parker: the movie.
