The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 5

Green Goblin is the clear #1 Spider-Man villain and Dr. Octopus has just as clear a hold on the #2 slot.

I think it depends on what way you look at it. For must of us, myself included? Yeah, Goblin and Ock are 1-2 no doubt. But for casual audience members, I don't think there's any question that Venom is number 1...Carnage might even be number 2.

Green Goblin will always be the top villain in Spidey's rogue gallery of villains. He has the means, the intelligence, the wealth, the motivation, the ability, the connections, and the will to do whatever it takes. No other villain possesses all of those qualities, together, as one.
Speaking of motivation, what were the Green Goblin's original motivations in the first comics he appeared in. Sorry for asking this dumb question but I just haven't read the old ones and I've been wondering what his motivations were.

If you go Eddie Brock Jr, cast Ryan Gosling or Jonathan Patrick Moore (Also known as Jonathan Wood-If you are in australia and watch Neighbours and All Saints you'll know him).

If you go Eddie Brock 616 get Tom Hardy, I find Muscle Actors to be not so good actors.

Hell no to both.

Sorry for mentioning Ryan Gosling.

Finding a right Venom looks like it's gonna be hard.

Oh I have a few suggestion: Ben Foster or Joseph Fiennes.

I always wanted Tom Hardy as Brock ever since watching Bronson, but that unfortunately will never happen now. I also thought Jeremy Renner would play a good Brock, but that is also highly unlikely due to his involvement in The Avengers.

Hi, new here. I've lurked for a while but I've decided to finally join...

Anyway, how about Jensen Ackles for Eddie Brock/Venom? He's a pretty good actor and he's got the right body for 616 Eddie Brock.

I may be called a noob for this, but I think Venom is tied with Ock for the second spot. I think he's earned that spot.

Ewes Venom on the same level as Ock...blasphemy.

There are a lot of good ideas out there. Then again I believe you have chimed in how Raimi copied Superman. If not then I apologize.

No apologies needed. I did, and still do. There is a BIG difference between taking similar ideas and doing them differently, as opposed to outright plagerism (shirt rip open to show the Spidey Symbol underneath as an example).

A nod to a villain to come, or a "calling card" WAS NOT to be taken literally. That was why I explained, possibly something like Peter finding a pumpkin bomb on his doorstep (although that would imply that Osborn already knows his identity, and I would rather save that for later)... but perhaps finding remnants at a crime scene or somesuch.... a teaser... nothing more.

NOW.. IF they have a scene with a Spidey Signal with Capt Stacy (deceased.. but whatever :woot:) is waiting on a rooftop, and Spidey webs in... and Stacy's ghost LOL gives him an actual card with a Goblin on it... I WILL BE LEADING THE LINE of ROLLIN MY EYES and moaning in the theater.

:woot:

I hate this mentality that only somebody who's already bulky can play Eddie Brock.

Totally agree, but I am in the minority in that I thought Topher Grace did an excellent job for what LITTLE they gave him in SM3.

I love Venom(Brock so so, think he could be better, Symbiote... Greatness especially it's effect on Peter if DONE RIGHT and not making him a Saturday Night Dweeb Reject :whatever:, and obviously a MORE USED and fleshed out Venom... able to not set off Peter's Spider-Sense, stronger, faster, organic webbing vs. Mechs.. wait Raimi and company gave us Organic webbing with Spidey  :woot:), more USE of his knowledge of Peter's secret to TORMENT his loved ones (aunt May or Gwen or MJ).....

BUT (and it's a BIG BUT)...

In terms of storylines/arcs/etc.... Doc Ock MUCH > Venom

In terms of popularity... you may have a point, even though I still (personally) prefer Ock over Venom...

Oh yeah.. almost forgot....

Noob :oldrazz: :cwink:

I definitely agree with you on Jensen, the only way I would like Venom in this series of movies is character development. In the sequel i'd like him to show up ala Spectacular Spiderman, i guess during the end of the second one it sets up Eddie to feel some sort of hatred towards Pete/Spidey and to become more prominent in the third one.

i dont think doc ock will be used in the sequel because he already was used in the raimi sequel spiderman 2 so it would look like a copy to have him in the ASM sequel

but then to hope we might get venom in the sequel is a long shot because doing the black suit storyline might be abit to soon after spiderman 3 did it and also as the spiderman character will still be growing so to speak in the sequel its more likely if venom was to be in it id guess it would be in the 3rd film... but then it would look like a copy of spiderman 3 doing it in the 3rd film

i have a feeling we wont see vemon in this film series unless maybe there is a 4th film which is a shame because id really like to see venom as he was always my favorite spiderman villian

I've been thinking about Gosling as Bruce and Batman. That could be very interesting. However, I always thought he would make a great Joker.
