No...your point doesn't make sense. If they switched up with Vulture over Venom, then that's basically going to give us Raimi's original idea because there would also be no use for the symbiote. Thus, I doubt Raimi would have purposely ****ed up his own idea, and Spider-Man 3 may have been a good film.

lol gotta agree with that two..John Carpenter said when they first came to him about halloween it was a simple story: babysitters being chased by a killer. He said thats what the studio wanted but it was then HIS job as the director to make something great out of it and thats what he did. No matter what Sam was given, it was his choice to go the direction he went with the dancing, eye liner, contradictory symbiote outfit, poorly writing Gwen and her dad, etc. When I look at the movie, he and his brother are credited as the screenwriters so of course we can blame the studio all day long but he wrote it he directed it

And you're just changing up your stance. You clearly said even with Vulture, we would've still gotten the eyeliner and dancing, but yet we wouldn't because if we had gotten Vulture, we would not have gotten the symbiote or Venom.

That was a mistake on my part. My fault.

It's possible that with the Vulture storyline we would have gotten a better SM3 movie. But that didn't happen. We got the symbiote story. Either way Raimi failed to do his job. HE was the writer and the director...it's on his shoulders, mainly, to deliver a quality product. I like Raimi but he messed up this one.

I love the Sam Raimi films, but I agree. If he really didn't want to make a film about Venom and had a problem with being pressured to use him, then he should have quit, like he did before Spider-Man 4.

Hell, that too. If he felt he was going to do something he didn't really like or didn't fully understand he could always walk. Now, obviously its easier for us to say that than it is for him to do it. We have no idea what his financial situation was at the time or his contractual status or everything else. Then from an artistic standpoint, he wanted to finish his story and whether we liked the story or didn't, he finished telling his story. It was always about Peter, MJ and Harry and he told a full story of those three friends and how Peter becoming Spider-man had a huge affect on their lives. It had a beginning middle and an end. That's why I wasn't upset when he walked away from the fourth one, because it would've felt like Godfather 3 to me..just an add on to a story that was already finished

He should've quit, yes, but let us remember, even with the eyeliner and dancing, he DID film the more better scenes of Eddie and the symbiote that I believe would've redeemed the film. Sure, I hated the whole idea of how the symbiote changed Peter into some hipster, but I would've brushed that off if we had gotten the scenes that would've brought meat to it, such as Eddie with the symbiote meeting Flint and his daughter at the park; the scene of Flint meeting up with that doctor about curing Penny. Scenes such as those which would've made more sense to the entire film and respected arcs.

But yes, we do need to see the symbiote return, but I can't see it happening with the reboot series. Sure, Venom may have a huge fan base still, but that shouldn't be the reason we see Venom, imo. If anything, and this is the sad part, it'll make more sense to do the Ultimate symbiote for Webb's series...and that sucks.

No one likes a quitter. Besides we don't know that was an option for him because of clauses in his contract or whatever. I would like to be able to see SM3 with those missing scenes if possible. I'm not sure that would cure the situation though...there are so many issues. The movie was a cheesefest and by the end I was like WTF. I mean, the butler coming in at the 11th hour with a "hey oh BTW, Harry, your Dad killed himself trying to kill Peter so..."

Whatever. I know this is the speculation thread and we can do that all day long...it won't make SM3 any better. It was utter crap and I prefer to think that it doesn't actually exist.

I agree..it'll probably be a long while though but it'd be cool. They've done two great adaptions of it for tv, there should be a movie one too. It just needs to be done over time and delicately. Hell, that's potentially three movies right there

I think it may cure the situation after all. They DID film the scene of Mary Jane talking to Harry instead of the butler, as read in the novelization. Again, it goes up to Raimi and also Sony for replacing some meaningful scenes with useless ones.

But, you do have a point. Perhaps Raimi couldn't quit because he did sign up for three films at the beginning. One reason Nolan only signed for two at the moment because he never believed anyone could make a solid third film for CBMs.

You should still have a say so, even in negative, if you cherish the character so much and you dislike the movie so much. Nothing wrong with that.
