This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]369457[/split]
You are out of your mind. I'm not even going to try and reason with this logic.
That's beside the point.t:
Forgetting the comparison to the final version, to me Alex Ross's design looks more like a palette-swapped Hobgoblin sans cape than Green Goblin to me. There's too little resemblance to the original for me to say that it's what I think Green Goblin should look like on film.
At least in Sm-3 we saw what the hobgoblin COULD have looked like. Remember the golden mask? IT's sort of Resembled Hobgoblin. But idk about the rest of his costumeYeah, and Hobgoblin looks more like the Green Goblin than the GG in SM1...
Case in point.
I guess I should explain my opinion better. While, objectively, Alex Ross's design is more faithful to the original, the fewer changes it makes remove everything I specifically associate with Green Goblin (and distinguishes him from the many other Goblin characters in Spidey's rogues gallery over the years and have remained consistent over the years through the various redesigns the character has gone through).
Dude, are you kidding me? You're defending the Raimi Goblin and THAT'S your reason why?
Regardless of how faithful the Ross Goblin is, I'm not going to willingly accept that anyone can say that the Raimi Goblin looks more faithful to the comics than Ross' at all.
Yeah, and Hobgoblin looks more like the Green Goblin than the GG in SM1...
Case in point.
How does this at all translate to SM1's design looking better?
This goes back to what VenomSpawn said earlier, sometimes things need to change to become more believable and serious on screen.
The only thing you could point out in SM1's design as even being slightly recognizable as a GG feature was the shape of the head...
The Alex Ross design has the clothes, the gloves, the boots, and still looks like a goblin. I mean, if you don't think it looks like GG, that's one thing, but you can't say SM1 does either.
But Hobgoblin will never be used in film, nor is he even recognized by many people that aren't Spider-Man fans. If the GA scenes a green goblin-looking character, then they're going to instantly think Green Goblin. It's not our our fault that Hobgoblin's design would work better on screen than the GG's original design.

Dude Im happy you love your brain, but your brain and its recognition patterns mean little to me. I am saying that Alex Ross' design would look awesome on screen. That is it. And it would. I love the design of the GG in the comics and shows, but just like qupping out of control during a villain battle, some things don't always translate. The GG's original design is one of those things.

Also no one is saying visible ears or eyes with pupils wouldn't work. We've all conceded that the Ross design could use some work. We're saying that the raggedy, beaten down, rough around the edges look of the Ross design would be excellent. We're not saying everything about it is perfect. We're saying the overall concept and ideas behind it are best.
And a cap wouldn't work because it looks goofy as all hell. He was designed in the 60s, not 2011.
Ross's version is crap. And if you want to pull out "Green Goblin was designed in the 60s, not the 2010s" card, I guess you have forgotten the various redesigns of the character in those nearly 50 years.
And these are all better than the Alex Ross design.
What a tremendous difference...
I thought we were on part 20 'cause we got news. I pop in and we're talking about the Green Goblin's costume.
Well, it's not like we'll be getting any news anytime soon. So what do you think the Green Goblin should look like on the big screen?
