The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 2

I would want a Deadpool game, and I'm not even a fan. I mean the game pitches itself. Gun/sword play like in Devil May Cry (I'd imagine, never played those) with crazy Ratchet & Clank weapons thrown in. 4th-wall breaking galore and Nolan North. Million seller right there :P

I wouldn't doubt if we we were to get a game tie in with the DeadPool film. Hopefully Ravensoft would get to do it and would do it in the same style as their Wolverine game.
The thought of it makes me drool. And I'm a fan of Deadpool.
The movie seems dead, to me, but I'd like if they still made the game.

This was posted in the other thread. It's very positive.

http://gametyrant.co/news/2012/4/10...an-in-depth-details-about-spideys-latest.html

Apparently once Spidey runs out of web cartridges in his belt, he will have to go refill them. It sounds like a really neat detail. Hopefully they have a way to prevent it from becoming to annoying like warnings or Ultimate Spider-man jumping and wall running.

They seemed to also like the pedestrian A.I. I wonder how it will compare to previous games.

Nice preview. Once again we have yet another reviewer that is impressed with the gameplay and graphics.

And they should continue that by keeping co op out.

So you're against co-op?

Darn, forgot about it having cartridge replacement ready in the belt, and basically infinite spare cartridges

Suppose it will have an effect on higher difficulties?

That would certainly make things a lot more interesting...having to really think about the quantity of webbing to use during a mission so as to have enough left to complete it.

Otherwise I would like for Voliton to do a follow up on their Punisher game, but thats probably not gonna happen.

I really wish they would make a Deadpool game as well, also I wouldn't mind if they make the character take shots at other games, for example the game starts off as a third person shooter, then switches to a platformer, then switches to a 2D beat em up, even with Deadpool appearing in 8 bit style and commenting on it as the game changes.

I couldn't be more against co-op for a Spider-Man title. Its about as useless a gameplay element for him as you can get. I mean if they want to finish the game and then in 3-6 months time add on a co-op DLC or something, i wouldn't complain. I dont want them spending even a second of time developing a co-op portion to this type of game until after everything single player wise has been completely finished. I dont want a separate team, developing any type of co-op. I want 100% of Beenox developers focused on the single player portion of ASM.

If I remember correctly, I think you said that before
Highly possible, Deadpool is just such a perfect fit for a game.

Yup, there is so much stuff you could do with a Deadpool game without it being out of place. The developers could practically go nuts with it. Eat Lead: The return of Matt Hazard interested me for just this reason. To bad its supposedly pretty mediocre.

EDIT: I'm with projectpat on the co-op, keep it away from the Spider-Man games. If you can't do it correctly then don't do it at all.

I understand that, I would rather Beenox stick to the solo Spidey games for a while, maybe if they can get a good enough story and a better way to incorporate a second playable character, then move forward. But all in all, I can live with solo Spidey games.

If later they want to do a retelling of the clone saga and bring in Ben Reily or something, then i can see that working as a co-op type title. That needs to be down the road tho. Give us a great Spider-Man title before you start trying to give us co-op. Altho, that great spidey title could very well be this one. Fingers crossed.

That video interview was nice and all, but I'm sick and tired of hearing the same old song with a different beat. I'm not asking for more story tidbits, or boss reveals, I just want a walkthrough already. I know some on here have stated that Beenox hasn't put out any unedited gameplay because they are confident in their game so they don't feel they need to, but most big games have at least one solid gameplay video up by now. I hate checking up on this thread and reading regurgitated information.

It is cool to hear that there are no "forced" stealth moments in TASM. I didn't mind those segments in AA (they were my favorite parts of the game tbh), but it's cool to have the choice. If I have the chance to be ninja Spidey and not risk messing up my suit, I'll take it ten times out of ten. I also like that the web swinging changes when indoors.

P.S. I am firmly against co-op/mp of any kind for Spider-Man games. I just don't see how it would make sense. I'm firmly for drop in/drop out co-op for games like Amalur/Skyrim/ME, but not action games based on loner superheroes. I know Spidey teams up a bunch in the comics, but that's cuz he's an even bigger cash cow than Wolverine, so Marvel makes sure to spread him around as best they can.

P.P.S. I would prefer a Deadpool game to be a DMC clone, but also with some Viewtiful Joe-type levels, as well a ****load of 4th wall-breakage.

P.P.P.S What's this about a 616 game? I remember hearing about that several years ago, but then SD and EoT came out. I don't see a 616 game coming out til the reboot Spidey trilogy is over.

Well the second Beenox team gotta work on something. Might as well be a 616 game.

Actually, the second Beenox team has probably been integrated into helping with The Amazing Spider-Man production. It's common for developers to do this.

Yea, well Beenox is only showing off one specific demo. So we are hearing the same stuff over and over again, because everyone is watching the same thing. I kind of agree tho. This game is out in June and we still haven't seen any unedited gameplay. The new DmC doesnt even have a release date and theres plenty of gameplay for that title.

Fair enough. I agree that if co-op takes away from the single player experience in any way, it should not be included. I do think that if it were done well and did not do the above, I wouldn't mind it.

I am pretty sure that everyone wants the exact same thing at this point...an unedited look at the gameplay showing basically everything that was seen in the demo. Unfortunately I don't think that Beenox is in control of how much gets released and when. It's probably Activision. Unless there is something coming that we don't expect, my best guess is that we won't see the gameplay in the light that we would like to see it until E3.

Oh theres no doubt Activisions PR team determines what is shown and when its shown.

I don't understand why Activision doesn't release something unedited prior to E3. Beenox seems so willing to show off this game...they seem extra proud of their work.

Activision has always sucked at releasing gameplay footage of Spider-Man games. I've followed every game except Friend or Foe since Spider-Man 2, and they've all had a huge lack of gameplay videos until a month or two before release. At least Spider-Man 2 had about a 2 minute offscreen demo from E3 a year before its release, but that was it until just before release.

I remember a lot of us sitting in the same boat for Web of Shadows this far before release. Instead of focusing on gameplay, Activision kept pushing villain and character reveals, which I could care less about. Their marketing department just seems to cater to general Spidey fans instead of gamers. I know comparing this release to Web of Shadows doesn't make anyone feel good, but it's just the most recent example I can think of.

On the flip side, seeing early footage doesn't guarantee the game is any good. I was shocked that Edge of Time had a gameplay demo at E3 last year, a full 4 months before its release. That obviously had no bearing on the final scope and quality of the game. It seems that they simply gear their demos for events like E3, and get out whatever they can for that.

I actually think the quality of the trailers for this game has been much better since they are obviously gameplay footage, though spliced way too fast to get a good feel for how the game plays. And incidentally, Dee Brown mentioned on Twitter that they would have a playable demo at E3, so we know good footage will come then at least. I get the feeling we're in for a lot of trailers and extra little reveals before then.

Well thats good to hear that the game will be playable at E3. I mean it sucks we have to want so long, but oh well, at least we know we'll get something.

Everyone who has seen it has had high praise for it, all the details about the game sound great, now its just a matter of hearing/seeing how it plays.

I think we may be in the clear, this game may very well be the Spider-Man game we've been waiting for, I've never really seen a Spider-Man game, a movie tie-in for that matter, get this much press, across the board, it's been a lot of positive talk

That's great news. It sucks that we'll probably only have E3 to get a good long look at the gameplay unedited prior to the game's release but like you say, at least it's something. And I'm sure we're gonna get a couple more trailers and possibly some other stuff too...Dee Brown also released another Tweet in which he stated that he just approved a "ton" of stuff to be released between now and E3.

I agree. The excitement level and the level of positive talk surrounding this game has been very high. WoS had a great deal of press and trailers prior to its release but as I look back and remember, WoS never really had the 'positivity' factor. There was a tremendous amount of hype and unfortunately that hype led to disappointment. I have faith that TASM won't go down the same road--it's a possibility, but I doubt it. Even though all the reviewers have seen the same demo footage...that footage contained a good deal of gameplay and the positive impressions across the board should have anyone excited.

Yea everything sounds great. But this isn't Rockstar, or Bethesda or Bioware or Naughty Dog. This is Beenox.

I'm not ready to give these guys a pass. No way I'd say we are in the "clear". Not until Beenox let's people actually play this thing.

I felt the same way when Arkham Asylum was announced. All the early previews were super positive(like they are here) but based on Batmans track record, I wasn't gonna give it a pass. I think I jumped on board with the first gameplay demo. I'm hoping the same happens here.

I was just thinking about that very point the other day...about how prior to AA there was just one bad Batman game after another and based on that track record I wasn't excited about AA. Of course, I do remember how with each little bit of info the excitement level grew and then we finally got a glimpse of some good gameplay and sent the whole thing thru the roof. AA was so awesome when it first came out and the initial play through was a mind blowing moment. Such a great game.

TASM seems to be following suit with the type of reactions from the reviewers though. I understand that it's still Activision and Beenox still being a mediocre developer at this point doesn't help things much but it still looks promising. I am holding out my judgement also though, until we get a look at a gameplay demo.

Speaking of co-op; it would be cool if a DLC package was made for combat mode, and you choose the character you play with and the background, an option for open world combat would be even more fun

Oh yea don't get me wrong, everything, I mean everything that's come out has impressed me. From the detailed visuals, to the improved combat, to the web rush mechanic and to the improved camera, it's all sounded great. I mean I'm almost ready to throw down my 60 bux, but I'm still keeping it in my wallet until I see the game in action for myself. Or at least get a great hands on preview. Not just someones impressions of a hands off demo.

Eh, co-op is something I really don't care about, especially not in a Spidey game!

If I'd want a DLC that has something else than costumes etc., it's to be able to play some levels that are directly taken from the movie, so you have a chance to fight against Lizard on top of Oscorp for example.

Also, an arena mode where you have combat challenges, but also get to face a boss or something would be cool!

And, about everything looking great in this game, it really does so far. However, what the demo doesn't show is the lenght of the game, the quality of the story, the variety on the levels and enemies and so on. If the game is too short or lacks in variety, then it unfortunately doesn't help much that everything else is great.
