hey, thanks guys!!

initially I was going to wait till the price drops to $30-$40. After a few recent disappointments, I just don't feel like spending $60 on any game.

But, I am tempted by the free tickets @ Walmart, as I'm planning on seeing the movie this week.

I did watch the 1st 20 min of gameplay on Youtube, and it looked pretty cool.......so.........I really don't know........lol

The last good Spidey game I played was SM2 back on the PS2. Web of Shadows was ok...........I haven't played any of the new Beenox games......

You don't have to listen to me but I really only shell out my money and time on A+ games like Max Payne 3, Arkham City, Skyrim etc. so I'm sort of biased. I'd consider myself a gamer sure but if a game is lackluster I think people should know about it. I have gamefly and regret buying TASM but it's got it's good parts just not an overall stellar title. It deserves the 7 - 7.5 it's been given. Beenox should create something really special next go 'round though.

7.5 is what I'd rate the game as well, but that's actually a pretty good score.

Yea they do, but i wouldn't really listen to livingwbatman as its what ya want out of it that'll determine what ur willing to spend(and of course ur spidey fandom). But is it just me, or has the majority of negative responses about this game coming from people with Batman or something to do with that character in their user name? But again, it depends on what you are looking to get out if it. Its got a great swing system, really fun combat and a pretty cool story. If you have enjoyed any of the last few Spidey games, you'll love this one as it tops them in every way.

Theres plenty of game for 60 bux and if ya get it at walmart ya get 20 bux off 2 tickets for the film(i just redeemed mine an hour or so ago). The game is a must own for Spidey fans. The story is about 10 hours long, but ya also have all the side missions and collectable comic pages(which finding those buggers are a lot of fun due to the awesome web swinging.). The indoor levels aren't difficult to navigate at all, now that spidey has the web rush. You can web rush to the wall, survey your surroundings, then quickly web rush to the ceiling right before stealth attacking a thug. Its all classic Spidey.

I don't know about the Batman in the name thing but yeah, there's seems to be an awful lot of negative response. I don't get it. I'm not sure what people's expectations were for this game but it surpassed mine. ASM has brought new life to Spidey games and has accomplished making you feel like Spider-man. Does it need some polish here and there? Of course. Does Beenox need to add some things to the game? Yes. IMO though, ASM is the best Spider-man game to date.

I can tell you exactly what it is, people set themselves up for failure going into this game with Spider-Man 2 in mind. For one, SM2 is damn near a decade old, as much as we love the game and some of the mechanics if not all, that's not doing much to set itself apart from previous titles. People love AA and AC which yes in all honesty, are great games and even surpass Spidey in terms of polish. Alot of us wanted that same type of gameplay for Spider-Man because hell, it fits him better to be able to take on multiple enemies in free flow combat, hell, given enough time and polish, he could virtually 1up Batman in that department.

Truth be told, Batman changed the way superhero films are made by adding in realism and what not, Batman also became the new bar in video games. Alot of people try to compare other games to AA or AC and some don't compare, this one in particular borrowed elements which IMO was a wise choice, and people still find ways to pick it apart, and when they don't say anything about the combat, they focus their concerns on where his web is attaching to another thing i find ridiculous. Truth be told, some people who complain about where his webs attach to haven't even played the game, not knowing that some boss fights involve rapid movement while swinging. SM2 had a good swinging mechanic, but if it were implemented in this game, that would have been a nightmare for anyone with motion sickness and the camera system would have been getting ass raped everytime you decided to change directions.

ASM is far from a bad game and definitely not Game of the Year, but I think it just goes to show that Beenox is actually trying to expand on the character gameplay wise in hopes of someday matching the level of AC. It took a fleet of gamers to complain about the Mass Effect 3 endings and Bioware folded under pressure and released an update to the endings. It doesn't take near about those extremes for Beenox to see what fans really want, and TBH this game shows that they answered alot of fans requests.

Honestly, I'd say ASM definitely is to Spidey as AA was to Batman. Looking forward to the next one.

I would say the weakest point of the game is just the immersion of the open world. The sidequests could be streamlined and the world could pull you in a bit more, feel a bit more like an exciting, comic book world. Whether that's fun little easter eggs, random villain encounters, stuff like that.

On the flipside though, it has to be considered that not only has Beenox has never done a free roam game before but they purely made THIS game free roam out of fan service and love of Spider-Man 2. That's a pretty dedicated developer and as far as I'm concerned, their passion for Spider wins them the title of being the best people for the job. I really want them to be given a shot to continue this series.

Agreed

Really enjoying this. It's an 8/10, definitely Beenox's best.

I caught the film last night. enjoyed the game more than the movie. it was a good flick overall tho. deff wanna see where they take it.

does the game spoil too much of the movie?

and, does the game include parts of the score/theme from the movie?

yea there's some definite spoilers. the fate of one character is spoiled.

as for the score, I didn't notice any borrowed themes. Altho I didnt really think any of the music from the film stood out, so maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

So not a single person here using a 360 has experienced having their completed main story game just go poof on them?? The game refused to recognize the save file. I tried copying it to the cloud and loading it that way, but it simply ignored that it exists. I've started all over now.

I agrees with ur suggestions. Altho I didn't think Beenox did anything better in SD or EoT. ASM was better in every way.

only thing id like to see them add would be to make the city more immersive. random crimes being organic would help

Even the boss battles? Sure, the robot fights were fun, but I thought the Cross-species boss battles left a lot to be desired. I thought Scorpion 2099 in Shattered Dimensions, was a lot more fun to fight than Scorpion in this game. It didn't help that the combat looked really unspectacular, since you only have one attack button. You get a lot of great looking moves, when you have a handful of thugs to combo into submission. But with a single enemy, who's mostly immune to your attacks, it rarely goes beyond two punches and a kick before you have to dodge or retreat and then repeat the entire process again.

I can agree with this, I wish Spidey's reversal system in this game allowed him to use whatever abilities the cross species had against them, for example, swinging Scorpion around by his tail. I still think that Beenox wanted to play it safe and keep the boss fights simple and involve use of the different mechanics, not too too bad for a first attempt. Like everyone else, I would like to see infinite random crimes and even some random crimes branch out and involve car chases. Now what would have really blown me away is to have a random crime that starts off as a heist, beat as many thugs as you can, some flee by helicopter, you chase them down, web the helicopter in between 2 building similar to the banned Spider-Man 1 film trailer. Doubt they would do that, but it would have been cool to see.

ok, so I just picked the game up at Walmart for the 2 free movie tickets!!

but, before I open it, is there a way I can check to see if my local movie chain will accept the free tickets? Can you use it at most movie chains around the US?

also, after I go online and print off the tickets, then what? I go to my theater, give them the ticket coupons, tell them what showtime I want, then they will give me 2 regular tickets for that showtime. Is that how it works?

thanks.

ok, I gave in and opened the game. the instructions were on the back of the manual.

I checked the site it pointed to, and it looks like my theater chain participates.

so, I got my 2 tickets printed out! :woot:

I must say......this game is pretty fun, so far!!

I just love all the crazy web attacks.

and Web Rush is pretty cool!!

yea that's exactly how it works and if ya wanna see the 3d version they'll just let ya pay the difference. at least that's how AMC did it.

Boss fights and stealth take downs. SD let you do all kinds of stealth takedowns rather than just the one.

I'm going to try to redeem them today. I'll probably skip the 3d though.......

oh, and I'm really loving the combat in this game. You feel so "spidery." lol

I like how Spidey incorporates wrestling moves in his fighting. :woot:
