Eh, I dunno about mutilating Peter like that. They kinda did it in The Other and I thought it was nasty then. I can see something happening that he can come back from a little easier like temp paralysis or something along those lines where he is unable to physically perform as Spider-Man.

You start ripping off limbs and stuff like that and you need mystical cocoons and such to bring him back.

Yeah because a lot of white dudes have the last name Morales....:o

Hey, names mean little in America. We live in a country where Blacks, Asians and Latinos have names that have little bearing on their ethnic affiliation. Look at comedienne Anjelah Johnson. She's Native American and Mexican, yet here last name is Johnson. Go figure, right?

I have a Spanish last name because my dad is half Mexican. I am 25% Mexican and 75% plain old white guy. Guess what my brothers and I look like.

I guess you guys missed or don't understand the purpose behind that smiley I used. Here's a hint, hold your mouse over it for a few seconds and read what it said. Hopefully things become clearer for you.

That smilie used to be the embarrased smilie... or the ******io smilie... depending on how you look at it... and now it's supposed to be "sarcastic"?

:csad:

I dunno man, you lost me after you posted 3 constipation smileys and 1 rape smiley.

Good article Stillanerd. Honestly, I think you're writing off Alpha a little too much. I consider him one of the top 3 suspects behind the Superior Spidey. Harry is probably more of a dark horse in the race.

I was really behind the notion that Doc Ock in Pete's body was the front runner but you make a valid point and an important one. If Ock is in Pete's body, why would he need the tech to mimic wall crawling? It's a sticking point that would not make any sense.

Phil Urich is a good possibility as well, he brings the same cool perspective to the table that Ock would - a villain is masquerading as Spider-Man unbeknownst to Pete's loved ones and allies.

I agree that Peter Parker losing the Peter Parker in favor of a full time Spider-Man is probably the front runner at this point. Dan Slott drops plenty of hints in his stories, probably more than any writer I've ever seen. I think for now Pete is the best suspect until more issues of ASM come out and more concrete theories can be formed.

I could see the Peter Parker thing happening. It just kind of brings up shades of Identity Crisis though.

I saw Slott on Twitter this evening posting a lot of the negative comments people are making about this so I'm really interested to see how it all turns out. I think he's tossing out some red herrings and it's not going to be nearly as bad as people are thinking. However, I'm still very apprehensive about this as, nothing against Slott, but Marvel does have a habit of dropping the ball when it comes to big changes to Spider-Man.

One other thing...Darker, not so friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?

...huh...I was going to make a joke about it totally being ToxinBrock, but if Gargan shows up out of nowhere, I would be dumbfounded for sure.

Identity Crisis? That was more about Pete dropping just the Spider-Man part while still going out and performing as a hero. The killing of the Parker identity is similar to what DC did in the 90's with killing the ID of Clark Kent but it has not been done in Spider-Man history.

I don't really smell any major editorial interference on this one outside of the fact that they're pushing NOW on the title but they're doing that for every book, not just Spider-Man's. Every writer is being asked to work within what Marvel wants to accomplish with NOW. They've really backed off Spider-Man since the latter days of OMD. If this thing fails, it's really all on Slott.
