Hate speech and bad grammar? Yeah it's being looked down upon.

Oh I see... well then that's a perfectly reasonable response for what you want to have happen to a writer you don't like.

You don't know what you're talking about. Wolverine has been replaced by his son. Captain America has been replaced by Bucky. Tony Stark's been out multiple times. Hulk was replaced by general ross. Daredevil has been replaced by iron fist. You know what? I can't think of a single marvel hero with their own book that hasn't had some replacement happen to them before. Hell Peter was replaced by Ben Reilly for years. Each time it's happened eventually the main person was back in place. You want to be upset about this that's fine, but be upset with some class and composure and don't just rant and talk about evil befalling another human being because you don't like their writing. If you're half as old as you're claiming to be don't act like a three year old throwing a tantrum.

I bet you are Dan Slott's brother....and he can kiss my arse.

..... Hands flag over... Even i don't act like this...... (and that's saying alot ) lol

Actually I'm the guy that has consistently called dan slott for his dickish behavior towards other posters.

I'm also a guy that has been disappointed in his writing on this book from the start of things.

That said I'm not someone who wishes him any personal harm and I don't throw a temper tantrum like a small child. I articulate what I don't like and explain why. But I'm also not so myopic as I can't see someone obviously trolling and whining without any real point or purpose other than to name call.

I've rebutted you're point about this not happening to anyone else. You didn't respond to that cause you were wrong. You don't have any other point other than to say you don't like what's happening in the book in the most childish possible way. So unless you have another actual point to make we've heard you, you're upset, message received.

What I'm still wondering is how Norman Osborn plays into all of this seeing as how we got that scene that he was gone from his hospital bed and the staff didn't know where he was. Remember Osborn should have been a pile of goo thanks to that Dark Avengers arc...

Damn, I picked either the best or worst time to look at this thread. Am I the only one on the Hype who's actually confident that something interesting will happen with this whole "Superior" thing?

Sorry, didn't know my post was going to be graded. Also, I don't see where I said anything about bodily harm......I just hope his car gets a flat, runs out of gas, he gets the flu, divorced, etc.

Screw him and those who want to replace Peter and shove Miles or Spider-Ock down my throat. You don't see Marvel pull this crap with it's other flagship hero (Wolverine). Friggin garbage.

Good lord. This was said. It's a story. It won't last forever. Hell, it'll probably be over by the next movie at the latest. Either enjoy the ride or save a few bucks a month until it's over.

Hmm, I'm getting the vibe that Norman's role is more of an after the effect type of thing. He'll probably be causing trouble during the Superior spidey.

I don't understand why some people are making such a big deal of superior spiderman. You love Peter Parker? All of us do. Does that mean we should refuse change, just for the sake of refusing? Give this superior a chance. Read it. Then judge it. the premise is interesting, and I can't wait to read what Slott will do with it. it has a great potential. Maybe it won't deliver. Maybe it will be awesome. We won't know until we read it. So now is not the time for fear. that comes later.

I'm a little let down that it sounds like [blackout]Doc Ock[/blackout] will be Superior Spider-Man over the teased Spidey 2099. That's a downgrade in my opinion and tastes.

Oh well. Hope you guys enjoy the story

Miguel is one of my favorite hero. I prefer him over Peter actually. So I was all for Miguel as the superior spiderman. But who knows, it may end up being awesome.

This gives me similar vibes to when Dark Beast replaced Beast for quite a long while in X-Men. That was a pretty awesome story actually.

while, some people do get out of line.. I do think it's kinda just as equally stupid to criticize people for disliking or having disdain for a direction a book takes. It's more than just "stories" to many of us.... I know for me it's usually been about the grand picture... some changes stick, some don't, people are allowed to complain about it and vent.

however I do think both sides should be respectful.

not to mention this arc seems to also be practically causing
the death of PeterParkers mind... (if he let's ock take over it), and Doc Ocks body

I can understand those who are afraid of this new status quo. But when it's just complaining and overacting and be like "this is the last spidey story I ever read", it's just absurd. At least we should give the story a chance before being so absolute.

people could have said the same thing during the clone saga... hell you can really say the same thing about anything "Nothing Lasts Forever" in time to be honest... but.. it could last a couple of years. And people can be upset about that.

I'm not questioning that. Of course people can be unhappy with some decisions, with some stories. But let's face it: people on the internet complain about anything.

being unhappy about a new statu quo, and refusing to give a writer (whose run is mostly liked) a chance to tell his story is not the same to me.

but isn't that because you actually like the story and story teller?

everyone one has that one final straw that eventually tips them over the edge... some was the clone saga, Some the reboot that came a couple years after, some Sins Past, Mine was the marriage... this event will be one for others.

While I think dislike of the new direction is valid, I will say 698 was by far the best issue Slott's written in ASM that I've ever read. I'm looking forward to the new turn for as long as it lasts. I've already stated the out that's going to happen, which is the same most of you see and it was obvious from the first read of 698.

Personally while I find the idea of doc's shenanigans interesting I also think this plays best to Slott's writing style. One of the main problems of ASM since slott's run is the characterization has been quite off. Slott's hero's and supporting characters don't have individual personalities. Slott seems to have three voices for personalities that are white hats: smart person, angry person and driven person (obsessive) and the only difference is what's happening to that person at the time. I've noticed the stories I've liked from slott over time has come more from his characterization of villains (arkham asylum) who actually have quite distinct voices. So I think the change will result in a more natural feel.

I dont like how Peter died. Seemed a cruel way to go. But this will make the comics for an intresting read to say the least. Im certainly curious how the new Spiderman is gonna play out.

Spoiler

Ok I have seen the scans and this is my theory, the one looks like its him beating the crap out of the Scorpion when he is talking about his jaw being unprotected. My theory is that at the end its him telling Ock that out of two of them he is the Superior one and in the process of getting he mind back the Peter Parker part is gone now there is only one personality and thats Spider-Man. Like the previews of the Superior book where he talks about how could Parker have put up with what he did. I believe his personalities have split and there is only one now

When did we stop using spoiler tags around here? Let's be more considerate to those that don't want to be spoiled.

Nope. Entirely wrong.

Because [blackout]Peter loses. He dies in Otto's body. Before he dies though he completely mind****s Ock with his memories and Otto is essentially Peter now. They share a "With great power..." moment before Peter dies though and then Otto vows not to let Spider-Man go down as a villain and becomes the new, superior, Spider-Man.[/blackout]
