Michael Angarano as Aquaman?
I agree with Lobo. Angarano is Peter Parker. Some times I wish they would restart the Spiderman franchise just so he can play Parker in high school. Hopefully whenever they switch actors, Angarano will still be able to play a high school student (which is where I think Spiderman is best)

@Lobo: Your cast is good save for Lennix. I just always pictured Manta as a younger guy

@MoT: If they go with Aquaman being more stoic and king like from the get go then Fassbender is great

Yeah, I hope so.

I don't care for seeing Aquaman as a surfer dude.

I think the badass King of Atlantis (Timm style) can redeem the reputation of the character with the general audiences.

I guess I would prefer the "surfer boy thing" but not having him saying "dude" and "bro" every sentence

I would like it so he's on land and he lives "normal" except he's kind of a loner, really introverted. I think I like that idea because I do want that whole idea of him not knowing he's Atlantean and then discovering the truth but God willing if there turns out to be a sequel I would want him splitting his time between friends on land and then his king duties in Atlantis. and also (if there is a sequel) it would be 95% underwater and would be like King Arthur under the sea

I mean have we ever had a loner hero on film who isn't mentally disturbed in some way

I made 2 casting choices. One for if they go for the "normal guy" thing one for the more stoic version

Normal
Arthur Curry/Orin = Phillip Winchester

Black Manta = Anthony Mackie

Orm = Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Mera = Emily Blunt

Stoic
Arthur Curry/Orin = Michael Fassbender

Black Manta = Michael Ealy

Orm = Alexander Skarsgard

Mera = Amy Adams

and then I have 2 casting choices that I wouldnt mind in either version

King Shark = Adam Baldwin

Vulko = Brendan Gleeson (great choice Lobo)

Yeah, personally I don't wana see Aquaman as a sequel franchaise.

Everything great needed to redeem Aquaman can be done in one film; his birthright, the badass King, Aquaman VS Black Manta etc

I want Aquaman as a lead-in to JLA; just like The First Avenger: Captain America is to The Avengers.

That way the established Aquaman can continue in JL films; there's more territory to cover with him there.

I see what you're saying but I'll have to disagree

Aquaman i see as a character who could and should be told in 3 or 4 films. thats how I see most mainstream heroes with on going stories. You should see each film as a standalone like Nolan did with BB&TDK but you should have a multiple film plan also like Faverau and IM. If you put all the stuff in one film, then if they do have a sequel then they'll probaly end up with a weaker story. I mean even if the director doesn't return, what successful comic book superhero movie doesn't have a sequel? If there is a story to tell then they should have a sequel they shouldnt just put everything in one film because they can.

and if Aquaman turns out to be good wouldnt you want to see him by himself in another movie rather than having to wait until the next JL film?

I think they used Captain America as a segway because Capn is the leader of the Avengers. I mean they could have used Thor (which is being relesed the same year) but Captain is a more major member of the Avengers. If anything Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman should be the lead in movie.

The thing is, as epic as Aquaman could be, personally I don't care to see him face any other villians beyond Black Manta and perhaps Ocean Master.

The Aquaman mythology is decent, but IMO there's greater storytelling potential with Aquaman in regards to the JLA.

But whatever they do, I 100% don't want to see a take on Aquaman like this:

I want a version of the character that audiences can take seriously. Play up the badass king aspects.

With Dicaprio behind this, hopefully we do get a sophisticated serious take on him.

i watched that episode it was good, but it should only be done like that for a tv show. for a movie that wouldnt be good. so i agree.

Well with the right writer/directors they could freshen things up and give us alot of good stories to tell.

More often than not, I go younger with my casting choices. But, if I was casting Aquaman, I would have a hard time not casting Alexander Skarsgard as an older, established, stoic Aquaman. Anyone who ever thought Aquaman was a joke would **** if Skarsgard was in the role.

The problem I run into when trying to find younger casting choices for Aquaman is finding someone who looks the part, but isn't some pretty boy. I hate it when pretty boys are cast as superheroes.

On a side note, after I broke my jaw at the end of May, one of my time passing methods was to indulge myself into a new comic book character, and I picked Aquaman. And like my signature suggests, I'm becoming a big fan as we speak.

As far as movie ideas go, I need some more time for something concrete, but as of now, I'm thinking that the movie should be based more so on the modern age storylines, with Aquaman and Ocean Master both being sons of Atlan and battling for the throne of Atlantis, with Ocean Master prepared to conquer Earth if he wins. For a sequel, introduce Black Manta.

Oh yeah Aquaman has alot of potential to be a great film. Anybody who doubts that probaly only knows Aquaman as the Superfriends version or from the jokes on Family Guy
