The Avengers The Avengers in 3d, yay or nay?

But really Iron Man 2 was never released 3D? Why didn't they do that?
Not enough time for a proper conversion, I think. Jon Favreau said that he didn't want to do half-assed 3D. Iron Man 2 only came out a few short months after Avatar was a monster hit, which made every studio convert their tentpole films into 3D as if they would all magically gross $2 billion also (It only really worked again for Alice in Wonderland).

Going back to The Avengers, I think I will see it in IMAX 3D on my second viewing, because the theater it's playing at has $7 admission bargain Tuesdays on all shows. Might as well. But the only films where I truly enjoyed 3D in the theater were Avatar and Transformers 3. The reason being is because those were filmed using 3D cameras. That's why I'm also anticipating seeing The Amazing Spider-Man and The Hobbit in 3D as well.

Nay. But, my first showing is going to be in 3D (don't have a choice if I want to see the marathon)

Out of curiosity, many of you are quick to say nay to the 3D, but to say yay to IMAX, even if the movie is not filmed in IMAX cameras? Personally, I'm not impressed with IMAX, been to a few, and just never understood the fad with it. Why do you all like it so much?

Question for those who do the 3D thing. How is it with eye glasses? I am thinking about making this my first 3D film and second viewing, and was wondering if I would do damage to my regular glasses.

Nay. The 3D of Captain America: The First Avenger sucked.

it's not like I have a choice. No 2D showings in Vienna. IF I had a choice: 2D

Well maybe IMAX 3D is worth it, dunno, don't have any around, so it was typical Real D, but seriously, just the darkness of it makes it the less efficient choice. So many scenes were dark and I just wished I could trade the nice 3D effect for clearer, sharper picture. I'm going again in 2D.

seen it firstly in 2d and then 3d on a bigger screen. The 3d was more enjoyable especially the final battle. see it in 3d!

I watched it in 2d, 3d does nothing for me, and it was fantastic, i honestly cannot really imagine 3d adding much.

Iv read that the 3d honestly adds some cool depth and some awesome whiz bang moments in the latter portions of the film, which makes sense becuz when so much a scene is mostly cgi the fact that it wasnt originally shot in 3d is alot less of an issue than if your trying to post convert a regular shot. I love 3d when its done right, despise it when its done half assed.

Personally, there's nothing really "gained" from it. And certain scenes are a little too dark to really make out.

If a 2D version is not showing at my theater then I can just pay for a regular movie price and sneak in a pair of 3D glasses.

2D, without spoiling anything, a few scenes are hard to make out due to the dullness of the visual in 3D.

2D, I forgot i was watching a 3D movie until the third act. And the drop in brightness really hurts some scenes. Guess i gotta go see it again :(

Nay, nay, nay. A thousand times nay. And I wasn't ever opposed to 3D. But this 3D left such a bad taste in my mouth.

The 3D opinions are really scattered. Some think it works well, some hate it.

I didnt mind the 3-D at all. Naturally, the best scenes in 3-D are the action scenes, so the last part of the movie was pure gold for me.

I'll go see it in 2-D next week and see which version i like best.

Me and my friends bought tickets in 3D since they were all sold out of the midnight 2D.

I feel comfortable seeing it in 3D since I've read at least 4 reviews saying it was pretty good, and some saying even better, especially the last 30-40 mins in 3D.

Just saw the regular 3d, it was great actually. I'll be seeing the imax 3d next week.

I've seen the movie twice now, both times in 3D but at different cinemas and it seems that the bigger the screen, the better the 3D.

When I saw it at the midnight screening, the screen in the theatre was not very big. It wasn't small or anything, but not big enough for the 3D to have any real effect. It wasn't bad like Cap or Thor but I didn't get anything out of it.

The second time I saw the film was at a different cinema and on a much larger screen. Pretty much a faux IMAX screen and the 3D looked fantastic!

I'm seeing the movie again tonight but this time in 2D.

I am not a fan of 3D being used in films, unless it was porn, in which case I would like DD :woot:
