Except Europe isn't a country.....so.....there's that.

This seems to be what Hulk is going to look like.

That looks pretty much like the version from The Incredible Hulk. Where do you get that this is what he's going to look like?

Super 8 cost 50 mil to make and earned 181 mil and has a RT score of 80%
District 9 cost 30 mil to make and earned 210 mil and has a RT score of 91%
Falling Skies had the highest cable launch and was renewed for a second season
Battle:Los Angeles...cost 70 mil to make and earned 202 mil
Technically we can call the Transformers movies alien invasion movies and im sure I dont need to bring up how much money its made

Cowboys & Aliens opened up with only $36 million when the film cost $163 million.

And just for gits 'n' shiggles, let me throw into the mix:

War of the Worlds: budget $132 million; box office $591 million.
The Day the Earth Stood Still: budget $80 million; box office $233 million.

Avengers apparently has a $260 million budget.
The box office numbers on those films above show that they average $263 million on the return.

Hell, even throw Transformers 3's $900+ million into the mix and that even jacks the return up to $309 million.

That's about $20 million less than Fantastic Freakin' Four made, people.

That means Avengers as an alien invasion epic is on par to break even, or profit about $50 mil. And we're talking just gross here, not net.

And Boxofficemojo lists the overall *average* return on an alien invasion movie at $105.6 million.

If you tell Feige that Avengers as an alien invasion film is due to make $310 million, he'll pull the plug on it right now, because that's a box office disaster that will make Green Lantern look like an unqualified success in comparison.

(Come to think of it, Green Lantern was an "alien invasion" movie. So....yeah)

One:

I'm sliiiiightly kind of sad that nobody even really thought about my post on the Iron Man 2 Blu-Ray Vault maybe being updated. I mean, even if nothing changed, an acknowledgement of 'nothing changed' would be kinda nice. Not complaining, just saying.

Two: For people saying alien invasions aren't hitting big with the GA: citing Best Picture Nominees is not going to help your argument. Especially if said Nominee made over 7 times it's budget.

Someone did check.

Sadly it hasn't been updated .

He referred to it as a disaster movie before, to me that's his way of not spoiling it's an alien invasion...sorta:cwink:

Neither do I. However, I do expect a Doctor Strange film for 2014.

Seconded. Stan Lee himself mentioned a Doc Strange film before, and in the last few interviews with Feige on the future of the universe, he's brought up Doc Strange.

Doc Strange and Black Panther are the ones I see him mention the most besides the other Avengers

Its obvious that Doc Strange is the next on the fast track now. Panther, Cage/Iron Fist, Ant Man, seem to be the next tier. Maybe i'm missing one.

Hahaha at all of the BO talk in this thread

Comparing this movie to the War of the Worlds and Battle Los Angeles

You have to be freaking kidding me...

Yea exactly.

Avengers isn't just some new franchise with no character/actor recognition. It is in effect a sequel to all the other Marvel Studios films. You throw in the "superheroes fighting alien invaders movie" angle I think it could be big.

No, that's probably it.
If things turn out as I think they will, those are their additions to the MCU until 2016. By then they may have regained the rights for the FF back or may think about a She-Hulk movie (hopefully)

Isn't this the most catchy tune maybe ever? :yay:

YES IT IS!!!

Have not stopped humming it since I saw the movie (5 times)!!!!!

Alright, bring on the OTHER Marvel movies.... Let's see..... David Tennant for Strange, Idris Elba for Cage and Iron Fist.... Oh, I dunno... Chris Pine? Ryan Kwanten? I'm just going off the top of my head for youngish blonde dudes.... Garrett Hedlund? Alexander Skarsgard? Anyone, just give me my damn Iron Fist! :P

Garrett Hedlund would be my preferred choice for the role Danny Rand.

I don't know about you guys.. but does anyone else think Iron fist and Luke Cage should just have there movies combined to simply be the "heroes for hire" movie? I really don't see luke cage carrying a movie series.. nor his movie doing well. Ironfist probably could, but I think they just seem more interesting together.

Well, since Luke Cage is being introduced as a supporting character in one of the Marvel Live Action series, I say do it as a TV series.

Alexander Skarsgard as Iron Fist, Idris Elba as Cage and then have an HBO David Simon reunion for a Heroes for Hire tv series!

Obviously, that would never happen.... or indeed work at all :P

After seeing Captain America, a full film based on a character, that could have been failed in so many different ways, either being too camp, too serious, too political, too patriotic... After seeing that movie succeed largely on the truthfulness of the character, I think a Luke Cage movie could work, and an Iron Fist movie, and indeed any Marvel film at all, if they're all treated with the same care and dedication to the source material.

While... i agree with that sentiment... Luke Cage is also no Captain America. Also... Luke Cage has a very very large chance of coming off like a movie geared souly for the african-american community to the general audience. I think Disney is being smart about introducing him on Jessica Jones's show to show the general audience that he's more than that stereotypical perception.

but like i said.. I still think he's more interesting from a story perspective, with danny rand

In the Avengers trailer when Nick Fury says "your up" I'm hoping that implies that a SHIELD strike force went in first to battle the enemy. That would be awesome to see SHIELD hitech gear in action.
