For one thing, Avengers Thor looks a lot more natural. The wig is less obvious, as is the colouring of the hair and facial hair.
Thor doesn't need to look natural, he's a god. The way I'd have it is:

Thor beard fullness and coloring
The Avengers hair length
all inside the helmet.

Let's just hope Chris shows us the best of his acting chops. If that happens (which I have no doubt it will), then Thor's look won't even matter anymore.

Branagh's Thor is a real God of Thunder - Whedon's Thor is some cosplayer from a garage band, who thinks that he's a God of Thunder.

I dissagree. The first film's look was the garage band/Kurt Cobain look.

The new look resembles this as does the outfit that goes with it:

Whedon and crew were definitely emulating the classic look since the above shot is actually in the trailer.

What do you mean Thor doesn't need to look natural? Of course it does. Natural means it looks like it actually belongs to him. If it doesn't look natural, it looks fake. That's the nature of costume and make up in films... Even if isn't historically authentic, or something that isn't real, you make it LOOK like it is. Obviously dyed blonde eye brows does not look natural and I'm glad they haven't done that in Avengers.

Whatever it resembles, one thing is for sure - I'm not a fan of it. The only thing, that I didn't liked about Thor's costume in his solo movie - pants & boots.

I still don't understand the dislike, it's hardly a drastic change... As far as the costume goes, it's essentially EXACTLY the same except he goes sleeveless when he's in casual, hang out mode. Is anyone complaining about Cap not wearing his helmet in that scene? Or Stark not wearing his armor? We KNOW Thor has the chain mail from all the concept art we've seen, including licensing artwork and action figures.

With that in mind, the only REAL change is the hair and beard length... And really people, how minor is that?

Thor doesn't need to look natural in the same way that Frost Giants don't need to. Thor doesn't need to look too much like a human or it takes away from his godliness. In the Avengers Thor looks to much likie Chris Hemsworth with long hair. The blonde beard/eyebrows looked natural enough in most scenes, but I will say they could have done it better.

I don't care about the costume, man) It's fine in my book. It's just his facial look, that I'm not satisfied with) Other than that, I'm good with it.

He's sleeveless when he fights too. Its not just a "hang-out" look.

My money's on the SDCC concept art and the toys being innacurate.

Hangout mode = No cape.

So....does anyone know what fully goes down in that Agent Coulson short? Why is Abomination involved?

I suddenly want to see Thor and Conan in a steel cage match.
