Cap is having lunch

I'm kind of wondering -- why even bother putting the big black trash-bag thing on Evans? It looks like they're trying to cover up the costume to keep it from being seen... but we had tons of pics of him in full costume anyway, so what's the point? (It's in the 80s in Cleveland, so it must be kind of a ***** for him to have to wear it, too. Unless it's to protect from rain?)

See, I hate it when they say stuff like, "we've announced that there will be a new FF reboot" but they have nothing on the table to suggest that anything is happening with it other than the name. No script, no story, not even any kind of itinerary as to when it's going to happen. It's a cheap move just to better retain rights to a property that they have no idea what to do with. But as long as it has the potential to make even a few million they're not going to let it go.

It's a crying shame. Marvel Studios could put them to such good use. Can the FF stand on their own two feet without the interference from the rest of the Marvel universe? IMO, not if Fox is the one retaining rights. I mean let's face it, as good as X-Men:FC was it still didn't perform as well as it should have. I put the blame on Fox for producing two really bad films in X3 and Wolverine. The only reason those movies made any kind of money was because Hugh Friggin Jackman was in them, and in hindsight no one thinks of them fondly at all. Can we really expect any different from them when the only two FF movies they've made were terrible?

I'm still holding out for Inhumans, but maybe it is the Shi'ar Imperial Guard (if Fox doesn't own them)

I would think Fox owns the movie rights to both of those groups of characters.

Well he's about to eat. A ketchup stain on the suit wouldn't look very good.

Yea i think the mack is more about protecting the suit from other things, like the already mention ketchup stain, than being seen. :)

Man the scene from the other day with all the bystanders running around excited the hell out of me. If you live in Marvel New York, I guess you better get used to running away.:awesome:

I've been away from the boards for a while but got sucked back in by the recent slate of Avengers news. But...

Cap looks almost like a real life action figure there, revealed at SDCC or another convention. A very good Marvel Legends figure.

I just hope they address why The Avengers don't team up in every movie near the end of the movie. Not for my sake, but I've already heard alot of the GA complaining "its kinda dumb, why not just join together all of the time". Perhaps near the end of the film, they defeat the alien race and Loki, but Loki escapes injured. All of the Avengers find him and defeat him together with ease. Cap says that it is a waste of resources to all focus on individual threats when there are so many conflicts throughout the world. Iron Man agrees and tells the group that they will join together only when the task calls for it, like another global invasion.

If some one complains about something like that....just ask them why bother having a separate comic book for each character if all characters will just show up at the end and defeat whatever villain is appearing in that issue.

The agreement between Marvel and the different movie studios "Fox", "Sony", "Universal", "Lions Gate" , ect... may all be different when it comes to the amount of time the studio has or had to start production in order to retain the rights to their specific properties. However, my understanding (if correct) is that an announcement or plans to make a film is not enough for a studio to retain their rights. In fact (once again if correct) it is my understanding that even a final script does not constitute a studio keeping the rights to the property, but instead that principle filming must be started on the movie. Now this is not to suggest that Fox couldn't just throw something together quick and start filming, but they could also end up losing money if not careful. Ultimately, like any studio fox cares about making money above all else, and if it is not a financially wise decision they would not do it. So, to me it seems unlikely they would just throw something together quickly (despite what they have said) unless it was a good financial decision and not just one to retain the rights.

Anyways that is what I think, wish I knew for sure when the Fantastic Fours rights were suppose to revert back to Marvel. Does anyone know for sure?

#AvengersCLE The scene involves a burning car tearing into an alley and the stunt cap leaping onto its roof...
#AvengersCLE Something else happens that Marvel Studios does not want leaked. Evidence is mounting for Skrulls...
#AvengersCLE Actors are wearing Mo-Cap outfits to allow CGI layering into their bodies, green skin and pointy ears, for example.
Hmmm....

Who started that rumor? I thought Fox was already actively trying to cast their reboot?

No idea. FOX announced the reboot back in 2009, if they were still going through with it you'd think we'd have heard something. I've been assuming for awhile that they simply weren't able to get it done and the rights had gone back to Marvel like Hulk and Punisher. Time will tell.

I have a few issues with the outfit but it looks great here.

With this "its not skrulls or kree, its a group of renegade aliens" talk, I was thinking if its an assortment... Super Skrull, Ronan, Fire Lord, Mar-vell... a bunch of aliens broken off from factions of different civilizations.

The trick is not to have Tony villainous at all! Even if you try to disguise the fact of any villainy by dressing it up in different terms, you're still asking the audience to choose between Cap and his merry men, and Iron Man. Many will ask "why can't it be Iron Man who leads the heroes? why does it have to be Cap?" or "why does it have to be a split between Iron Man and Cap and not someone else (eg Cap and Fury, or Cap and Thor, or any other combination)"?

Iron Man has already cemented himself as the most popular Marvel Studios hero, and even 10 years down the road, it's not as if he's suddenly going to be painted as the villain. It would be like asking the public to choose between Cap and Spidey, should Marvel ever get the rights back (and I'm not going to go into a discussion about whether they will or not). Spidey has a built in audience, and even if he is somehow under control or being duped, people will still root for him. And in fact, given his popularity, it's more likely he wouldn't be stuck on the villains' side. Same with Iron Man.

If Iron Man is more popular than Cap, then it doesn't matter whether Cap's character in the comics is that of a man of integrity who would always do the right thing no matter what. The general audience won't care. They will want to see Iron Man as the hero.

Meh. You seem hell bent on seeing no way but one way of doing it. I just gave several suggestions as to how tony wouldn't come off like a villain at all. The point of the whole story though is indeed for the audience. To choose a side. There's nothing wrong with that either. Also, as I've stated before, the villains end up being the big bad of the film.... I think its a beautiful way to end the avengers franchise (assuming we won't get more than 3) tying up all the avengers films, as well as there solo films, into one epic story.

If that was the case, I would be so happy. Fingers Crossed.

Fingers definitely crossed. Imagine Doom or Annihilus or Galactus in the hands of people who care as much about getting it right as they do with making fat bags full of cash. :awesome:
