Just to put things in perspective again, while we all fanboy out, Poni-Boy, you're not with marvel but have a film/geeky news site. So this info is coming from a source that may or may not be true, yes?

It's coming from two places actually. One, the same source that has filled me in on major Marvel Studios news for about a year and half now. Two, first hand knowledge. I really do wish I could say more but it'll all be revealed very soon anyway.

Norse armour?!?!? :woot:

Out of curiosity, which part incorporates a Norse armour design element?

Uh, the giant viking type horns on the head? Various patterns and etchings on the gloves, back of armour etc. The motif for all the costume was basically Norse armour, done with a sci-fi tech potrayal.

I understand that your hands are tied and you can't admit that its THE INHUMANS, but could you at least give us a wink that it is? Or hell, just give US the scoop!!! No, but seriously, is it THE INHUMANS? "Maybe" works just fine too ; )

In other news, too bad they can't add the destruction footage that we've recently seen to the potential new clip (teaser) that they'll show later this week.

If i'm not mistaken, i think RIM was the one that reported that something potentially new would be shown at this week's D23 (I think that's what it's called) exhibition.

Thor's costume had nordic influence, not completely but some influence. Also why is everyone attacking Power Rangers? Power Rangers was awesome.

So basically what you're saying is you have no clue what you're talking about? Okay. :yay:

Sorry, I'll use pictures since words are clearly confusing...

All these things trace back to visual depictions of Norse gods.

Why, were you trying to be a pedantic, smart arse *****e and pull the old "Um, well, H'actually, um, the Norse warrios TECHNICALLY didn't have horned helmets, so, um TECHNICALLY, you're teh wrong!"

I'm talking design motifs, the concept and theme of that type of armor exists and therefore is a valid 'motif' for costume design.

Why would they need CGI for the Inhumans though?
Rock, personally I'd rather they do all the various breeds of alien practical. I'm not a fan of CG characters (even though Ceasar was pretty heartbreaking in Rise of The Planet of The Apes). I'd rather they do a blend of both like Venom in Spider Man 3. The complex shots/headshots were CG but the majority of coverage was done with big guys in the Venom costume. They even gave Topher Grace a body suit for the face reveals. 100% CGI races are tricky. Sometimes they work (District 9) sometimes they don't (I Am Legend). But if they are doing The Inhumans here then we know they're gonna be fully CG, so it can go either way.

Aren't the inHumans more superpowered anyway, instead of weapon users? And those weapons still look very Kree inspired.

Eh, I officially don't care what aliens they are, all that matters is there are aliens. That's cool enough for me. I'll take whatever else comes AS it comes.

Well, I was the one who first published that the Skrulls would be mentioned in The Avengers, and what I said back then (about a year and a half ago) still stands. The Skrulls will get a nod but they are not the "invaders."

Saying that a newly named group of aliens won't mean anything to the general audience doesn't really matter. Asgardians, Howling Commandos and Hydra didn't mean anything to the GA until they got their due on screen. It's also much easier to de-power a small group of aliens than to say a group of 6 Avengers and SHIELD can stop a world wide alien invasion and make it believable and original. Besides, the Skrulls don't outright invade anyone, first the use subterfuge and integration, which can't be properly established in a two hour film.

Going by Marvel Studios' track record, their philosophy is simple: pit each new hero/ team against their primary foes. Cap vs. Red Skull? Check. Thor vs. Loki? Check. Hulk vs. Abomination? Check. Iron Man vs. Mandarin? ....uh, okay. (At least they introduced Justin Hammer early on.)

It makes sense that for a huge film like The Avengers they'd want to pit the team against a universal/cosmic threat, and one that's well-known. The rumors of Thanos and the Skrulls (along with Loki's confirmation) makes for a very powerful and well-known (to fanboys) combo. Pitting them against a lesser-known team sounds utterly disastrous to box office.

Plus, the Skrull Invasion *was* an outright invasion. Sure, it took awhile to get through the subterfuge and paranoia, but once the invasion started, it was a full-on invasion by the Skrull armada, who actually succeeded in conquering and enslaving Earth for a time. And the FF can certainly tell you that a Skrull invasion isn't all secrecy and disguises --- not by a long shot.

Well in regards to the costumes, personally i gotta give props to the designers for Captain America's and Thor's costumes since those could have come off so crappy if done poorly.

They really found a great way towards translating it to live action format that was both faithful and stylistic.

I'm not putting stock in any one thing, since I haven't seen the film. I just think it's funny how that tiny bit of vision completely cancels out something else. He could go either way. We may as well assume he never wears the helmet as well, right?

It's all silly speculation, which is fine, but then getting angry or worked up ABOUT those speculations is competely pointless.

So no one sees, perhaps, ANY similar features in these two pictures?

chin tattoo vs chin bumps? I don't really think that's enough... as for eye color, skrulls don't have to have red eyes

After Red Skull unleashes the power of the cosmic cube, the ancient alien race Kree, notice the unique signature coming from Earth. The Kree are constantly at war with the Skrull empire, who's sole purpose is to conquer all beings. So seeing the energy on Earth they,(The Kree,) decide to send a group of soldiers, to disguise themselves as humans, and to seek out the Cosmic Cube. We've already met one Kree soldier, in the comics his name is Walter Lawson. That weapon we saw in the set photo's, this one...

...looks really quite similar to...

Oh and the big reveal at the end, or post-credits... The reveal that a certain character is not whom he appears to be, and he is in fact a Skrull, sent to spy as well, only they not only want the cosmic cube, but to destroy earth as well....Sequel/s. Oh, and Thanos is going to be a part of this group, as the only non-Kree, and the Kree don't fully trust him, due to his unclear motives.

Firstly, most of this post is just repeating pretty much what I said, but as though it's a different opinion, so not sure what you're saying there.

My point is, looking at this with neutral eyes (even though I'm very much a 616 Skrull fan) to the GA, the 616 look wouldn't bear any significance at all. You say the Ultimate look isn't much 'cooler' than the 616 look, but you don't seem to realise that the only reason the 616 look is cooler to us is that we've been used to it for years. It feels iconic. To the GA, one look is as good as the other, so then choosing reason like I mentioned, that is, potential scientific plausibility, variety of having a new race that ISN'T humanoid (which we haven't seen in the MCU thus far anyway) and also the more engaging narrative and dramatic implications of the shape shifters 'reveal' where the change in appearance is more stark and obvious, rather than a different colour with a Robert Redford chin.

Seriously, this isn't about forcing you to like Ultimate version so much as at least accept the possible reasons why it would be chosen over the 616.

Or use my eyes and ability for critical assessment? They both have exactly the same eyes and the ridged chins. Seriously, I think you need to take a step back from this and try and look at things objectively, I think your fan love of 616 Skrulls is blindsiding you a little.

well... i never said which would be "cooler" because obviously the genral audience is going to find "slick reptile shaped robotic looking Tron light up aliens" far more "cooler" but... them looking like that really only serves the "cool for the sake of being cool" purpose... like i said, green reptilian/amphibious aliens make far more sense to me... after all.. they shape shift. Amphibians are known to go through metamorphosis, and reptiles are known to change color... so I figure they should appear like a reptile/amphibian hybrid, preferably humanoid, so we can possibly get the epic love story of the Skrull/Kree war with the princess and Captain Marvel (wishful thinking) You also have to look into the future... would marvel really want to ruin the chance as well to ever have the possibility of a Young Avenger's film? 15 or 20 years from now? they seem to really love there continuity.. so it wouldn't surprise me if they planted "optional" seeds down the road.

Who created that? I have seen many designs similar to this (Joker, Batman, Bane) but I can't remember who made them. Whoever he is, he definitely deserves a job in the film industry (if he doesn't have one already).

don't know :(, i just google imaged "skrulls"

Its been 30 minutes since I asked Pony Boy if it was The Inhumans and he still hasn't replied. I'm calling it - THE INHUMANS will face The Avengers next summer. If those are indeed the invaders, I'll be happy. Hopefully D23 will either confirm this or deny it & provide us with the true villains.

Disturbing reading in this thread. ...I learned that:

a) Lots of people know obscure Power Rangers characters.
b) Lots of people know enough about "Dog the Bounty Hunter" to know how he talks.

Seriously, how could a remote control possibly find its way to an arm-rest after guiding someone to a channel showing a program featuring a lead character named "Dog"? How could reruns of Scrubs, Seinfeld...or even I Love Lucy...not rank above that option?

We've managed to rise to the level where we have hundreds of TV channels....and "Dog" finds an audience?

I'm depressed....

Wait... who are The Inhumans?
