I think they should have given Red Skull more transparent eyes. The dark blue (Or whatever color) makes him look less scary)

Something like this?

To be honest, I have always found myself completely dissatisfied with the end of the First Avenger. I've always thought, that it should've ended on the moment with happy kids playing with the garbage cans.

Steve should've just jump from that SHIELD building at the end of The First Avenger (Ultimates-style + Ultimate Avengers DTV). Would be much better & cooler, rather than just running out from the building:

+ the whole aspect of his revival was kinda quick & rushed, without any real emotions (I had a date) or deep feelings. Maybe I'm wrong and they'll explore this in the Avengers, but the whole ending sequence was just plain wrong.

I disagree about the ending. I thought it was quite an emotionally powerful moment to be honest. Great acting from Evans. He sold the sorrow with his eyes and facial expression, rather than with the words.

I agree

^ The music was also perfect during this scene. I was really impressed with the score to this movie, I don't usually pay attention to those sort of things but I couldn't help but notice how well done it was.

I have to say I really liked the ending to CA:TFA. The "I had a date" line and scene was well done and couldn't be done well in THE AVENGERS movie. The first time I saw it I was a bit disappointed as was expecting something like ultimate avengers or EMH but then I realised what they were going for. It's designed as a plot twist ending for uninitiated vieweers who don't know that CAP reawakens in the present. If you don't know (as the majority of the GA would not) then it looks as if CAP was rescued from the crash and there's going to be a typical happy ending, then things begin to unravel and...BAM...plot twist: he's in the present, 70 years later.

This is also why earlier in the movie they never showed him frozen in the ice.

I think I liked the ending to CA:TFA better than just about any other ending in any superhero movie*. You don't usually get bittersweet endings in this genre and it was a welcome breath of fresh air to me.

*Maybe Unbreakable would be able to give it a run for it's money in this regard but that's about all I can think of.

Couldn't agree more about the Cap ending working perfectly fine but I hope we eventually see some glimpses of Cap being unfrozen or a semi-explanation within Avengers or another movie like Captain America 2's opening. I think they'll eventually explain it a little more for the general audience after being so vague in that cliffhanger. It was a really cool way to end the movie.

Skully's eyes have *always* looked normal like that. The fx team on CATFA did an outstanding job with Red Skull....looks like he just stepped off a comic book page.

Yeah, I thought the ending(s) to CATFA worked really well on an emotional and a plot level.

The only thing I question is SHIELD....what were they thinkin' in firing up a baseball play-by-play from 1941? You'd think that the research department would've been smart enough to *at least* pull up a game from 1944 or 1945 (whenever it was)....that's a great big "DUH....dumbass" moment for Nick Fury.

I agree, that was just plain stupid of on Nick Fury/S.H.I.E.L.D's behalf.

Fury didn't dig up the game himself... that's gruntwork :o

Yeah thats what I thought too. If you dont know that Cap wakes up in the present tgen that is a really cool ending/twist. Sometimes its hard for us to see stuff like that knowing as much about these characters as we do. I remember watching The Dark Knight with my dad and when Dents face is first revealed in the hospital he was like "woah is he gonna become a vilain now?" And I was like wow that would make his downfall all that more awesome not to have known it was coming.

I really liked the ending, too. My only issue with it is that it was so obviously meant to be the post-credits scene, and the real ending was supposed to be those kids running around pretending to be Cap. I don't get some people's complaints about the ending lacking emotion; just look at Steve's face, and listen to his voice, when he says he had a date. You could practically hear Steve's heart breaking.

Just want to mention Alan Silvestri's composing from the sacrifice of Steve Rogers till the garbage pan ending is absolutely beautiful.

I love the ending, but I do think I would have preferred it as an after credits scene (Steve waking in the present). Although, we wouldn't have received that first Avengers teaser then.

True, but if we'd never known about that teaser, we wouldn't bothered if TFA didn't include it. :cwink:

*is getting all philosophical in here :woot:*

Yeah, I like the ending as well. I know that if they had ended with the kids playing on the streets with Cap's shield would've been a very good, emotional way to end the movie, but with The Avengers coming up, they shouldn't leave the scene where Rogers woke up in modern time to an after-credit scene, and confuses some audience who decided not to wait for the scene and leave. It is better to keep that scene within the movie instead.

I know some people didn't like Rogers just saying "I had a date" to Fury, but let's face it: if Rogers had started to cry or spent a good five minutes talking to Fury about his feelings, the movie would've ended awkwardly. So in the end, I think they went with the best ending possible.
