Well, they did make the Destroyer a lot weaker in Thor. I hope the Infinity Gauntlet isn't downgraded like that.... :csad:

They kind of have to. The Destroyer shouldn't have been downgraded so much but the Infinity Gauntlet will have to be or the Avengers wouldn't stand a chance. Especially if Thanos has it. He can take on the Avengers without it.

They will have to power it down some. This is assuming it has all the gems as well.

Thor can take Thanos (minus Gauntlet). So add Hulk and Thanos would be eliminated. What about that tranq arrow Hawkeye has.

I agree it was disappointing. I know it can be a shot for shot like the comics, but how many times has Thor beaten the Destroyer? Isn't The Destroyer close to indestructible, I remember the Celestials melting it though. Maybe it was not controlled the right way, imagine a Odin or Mangog, Ulik or some other villain wearing the suit.

Odin was the one wearing it. He absorbed all the other asgardian's souls into himself (with the exception of Thor because he wasn't around) and then entered the Destroyer armor himself. The fight was pretty lopsided though. I doubt This 2000-ft Destroyer could even take on just one Celestial because he couldn't do any permanent damage to any of them... they just instantaneously regenerated any damage to their armor. Thor also shows up and lifts the thousand-plus foot Oversword and hurls it at the Celestial leader's gut. Def one of my fave Thor issues of all time. Something like this would be hard to pull off in a movie though without looking tacky.

Great issues. Celestials would make good villains. Unlike the comic version maybe they can help Thor and Co. fend off someone trying to destroy the Earth or Asgard. Put a spin on the comic version.

God wears gloves?!

Is it a "Marvel version" of a god?

Marvel wanted to do a comic about God, but IDW got the rights first.

No he can't, where did you get that idea from? Thanos goes toe to toe with Thor's dad. Thor is nothing to Thanos. Thor, with the Power Gem and Warriors Madness (which makes him about a 100x stronger than he usually is) couldn't even hurt Thanos. He gave him a nose bleed, then Thanos one shotted him.

And theKnightRises the Infinity Gauntlet is a glove Thanos created that allows him to use all 5 Infinity Gems (Power, Reality, Space, Time and Mind) at once, making him omnipotent. Check out the story.

Tried that ... that's why I'm asking the experts here. It doesn't tell me who governs SHIELD, who finances them, how do they build bases and unbelievable jet "aircraft carriers" and things such as that. I seek knowledge from you guys. Is it some U.N., NATO type group?
this is from wiki
Usually led by Nick Fury as executive director (although he reports to a twelve-member council, whose identities even he does not know), this organization often operates as much as a covert agency as a quasi-military one, initially depicted as affiliated with the United States government. Later, S.H.I.E.L.D. was depicted as under the jurisdiction of the United Nations, with vast technological resources at its disposal, with U.N. General Assembly Resolutions and legislation passed in signatory nations aiding many of their operations.[4][5] However, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been inconsistently portrayed as under U.S., rather than U.N., control, possibly by writers unaware of the agency's fictional history. For instance, in Astonishing X-Men #3, Nick Fury explains S.H.I.E.L.D.'s inaction during an incident of genocide by stating that it did not occur on American soil.[6]

from marvel universe wiki
S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division) is an extra-government intelligence and security organization dedicated to protecting the nations and peoples of Earth from all threats, terrestrial or extraterrestrial. S.H.I.E.L.D. was organized in a little over a decade ago to meet the threat of the highly technological subversive organization called Hydra. The identities of the organization’s founders, its Executive Board, have never been revealed. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s first known Executive Director was Rick Stoner, who was replaced after his apparent demise by Colonel Nicholas Fury, an ex-World War II commando and C.I.A. operative. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Supreme Headquarters is the huge mobile Helicarrier, but there are also regional offices in all the major cities of the free world and several secret bases in Communist countries. Although most of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s operations are covert, the organization’s existence is known to general public. S.H.I.E.L.D. even maintains public offices in several cities. Only a few of the several thousand S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives active throughout the world are known.
In the wake of Colonel Nicholas Fury's "Secret War" the position of director was passed to Maria Hill and later she has passed the role to Tony Stark (Iron Man) after the "Civil War". Recently, after the Skrull Invasion, Norman Osborn became director of S.H.I.E.L.D. only to close down S.H.I.E.L.D. and replace it with his own organization known as H.A.M.M.E.R..

No worries. And i'd say it's a mix of fantasy and sci fi. There is this part where Thanos is fighting against two Celestials... throwing planets at each other. It's sick.

So there is a good chance we might see Thanos in this thing, even if it's a glimpse?

Nothing much, but I hate these slow news weekends. Anyhow, IMDB has Chick Bernhardt playing the stunt double for a [BLACKOUT]Russian mobster[/BLACKOUT] in the movie. It'll likely involve Black Widow, and maybe even the scene near the end of the trailer. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0076776/

This.

If they don't gimp the power level of the Gauntlet then ALL the Earth dwelling Marvel Characters would get the smack down. At the same time if he wanted. The Avengers themselves would be like a gnat to him.

This isn't the Thanos who would drop the Gauntlet, yell "Drats", and then get arrested running towards his Thanos-copter and make a bad pun like a busted Scooby Doo villain.

Thanos didn't go "toe to toe" with Odin, he was pretty much beaten senseless he only survived because of his pact with Death. Also his "one shotting" of Thor wasn't all that impressive either since he merely froze him, it's not like he knocked Thor out with a punch.

Now I'm NOT saying Thor is tougher than Thanos because he isn't, but their natural power levels aren't nearly as far apart as people think (Thor would put up a good fight).

yeah that was one thing that erked me. The Destroyer wasn't that easy to stop, but I guess to include the Warriors III and Sif it had to be.

I didn't really see The Destroyer as being "weak" in Thor, because it's not like he defeated it with brute force. Thor fought smart by reversing it's energy back inside it's faceplate which destroyed it from the inside.

If someone was able to deflect a blast from Galactus or any other powerful being back in side their bodies then they would be severely hurt as well (just not "defeated" per say).

I'm no expert on Thor comics, but I was talking to a Thor fan who really liked how quickly he took down the destroyer in the movie because he said that's how it usually goes in the comics. Is that not true?

Yeah, The Destroyer felt weak. It was wrecking the town at first, but then Thor got his powers back & was all like "Nope". Then Thor obliterated the Destroyer.
