BTW... the building were Loki makes this crowd kneel isn't a theater, it's an opera I'd say.
A few years ago, they had Richard Wagner's "Ring des Nibelungen" at Stuttgart Opera, which is based on Norse sagas. One part of the story is that Wotan (= Odin), with the assistance of Loge (= Loki), steals a magic ring from the dwarf Alberich. Later, the Nibelungen treasure is hidden in the Rhine.
Is that he reason why Loki is in Stuttgart? Does he think that the opera's plot hints at the place where the Tesseract is hidden?t:

"It's a little Easter egg, a nod to the Norse mythology of Thor and Loki," "It's just one clue that the scope of the Avengers is far beyond anything Marvel"
t:Checked Empire article, that's exactly it! And it was Feige that mentioned the Opera House and the play not Whedon, my bad!"It's a little Easter egg, a nod to the Norse mythology of Thor and Loki," "It's just one clue that the scope of the Avengers is far beyond anything Marvel"
I'm not yet convinced that scene has anything to do with the tesseract. But a magic ring...or maybe a "gem"....could be a clue! hehet:
I don't know it that is the reason why Loki is in Stuttgart but I'm pretty sure that I saw a video when they were filming these scenes. They showed Richard Wagner's "Ring des Nibelungen" in this theater or opera, I'm pretty sure. There was the logo above the entrance.
Loki can't be going after the mind control gem unless they depowered the hell out of it for the MCU. If he has the mind control gem then he wouldn't need an army of aliens to distract/defeat The Avengers. The mind control gem can turn the will of entire civilizations all at once.
Just thinking of Loki as the trickster, the lie-smith etc one has to believe what we know is wrong. lolChecked Empire article, that's exactly it! I didn't know about that. It sounds pretty cool!
t:Maybe Loki has other plans entirely, being that he is the trickster...maybe he's like "haha you just thought you knew!" lol This whole army business could be just one tiny piece of his much grander menacing plan. Speculation of course.Just thinking of Loki as the trickster, the lie-smith etc one has to believe what we know is wrong. lol

In a comic book crossover, sure. In a two hour movie that already has so much going on, hell no. There's no time for tertiary plot twists and running around in circles. Trust me, the film's plot is as straight forward as it could possibly be.
And thats perfectly fine, the very fact that its getting made is a bold move.
Loki + Stuttgart + Ring des Nibelungen = Valkyrie?
From Wikipedia:
"As stated above, Brunnhilde, the Valkyrie is based on the character of the same name in the Nibelungenlied. The story however had many incarnations; Richard Wagner's opera version of it (Der Ring des Nibelungen) shows a Brunnhilde the character's creators most likely have used for the conception of the Marvel persona (and, in fact, Marvel's free adaptation of Wagner's opera in Thor #296 features Marvel's Brunnhilde in that role, with Marvel's Thor as Siegmund)."

I hope we get the Valkyries in Thor 2
Good find, but I think this is a bit much for the avengers, perhaps not for Thor 2 tho!
Same here. Want to see some Rock Trolls too.
Yes. I don't think she will appear in The Avengers, but maybe she gets mentioned there so that she can appear in Thor 2.

Thor 2 should be nothing less than LOTR styled battles AWAY from Earth. And give me Surtur. That's a villain you can team everyone against including Loki. Anything less will disappoint.
t: Surtar would be cool.LOTR based off Norse myths...good stuff.t: Surtar would be cool.

I´ll be frank with you, probably in the minority here, but i loved the Earth segments of Thor the most.
