A few things to consider..

1) Just because you go looking for something doesn't mean you find it on the first try

2) Loki doesn't need augmented mind control powers to make people kneel. He's a "god" and it doesn't take a huge display of strength to make a handful of humans bow down.

Thats why I asked if it was different in the MCU, since everything I know comes from the comic books. And unless Whedon was lying, Loki was at a theater in Germany. So who knows. Just pointing out what I've read/saw regarding Germany.

Just some speculation on the Aliens. I was randomly looking through my collection of titles that include Thanos, and in Avengers #125 Thanos sends a rag tag group of Aliens to attack Earth. The group consisted of Badoons, Srkulls, and Aakons. Although they're from different races, Thanos has created a translation device that allows them to communicate. Unfortunately I can't post pics, but the aliens armor does appear like it could be similar to the ones in the trailer...
