Is there any mention of Loki's mother in the MCU? We know who his pops is, but could he be half Asgardian or even human? Since he's "small for a giants offspring"? Like you know cause the giants were on Earth for a time and Loki was a baby at the end of the war...
Also why pick Earth to rule anyway? ......Chocolate? Coffee? lol ....Seriously why not another one of the lesser realms, aside from we have the cube and such, is it like a jumping off point for him, spread out from here? Or is it just to steal cube and maybe annoy Thor? Simple plot.

1) Stop reaching for no reason, will confuse people. There are 1,000,000 options to explain every aspect of this movie if you throw comic book and franchise canon out the window. It's completely unnecessary.

2) It's the easiest of the Nine Realms and it would piss off Thor the most

3) Yep

I could buy that explanation. But it essentially comes down the same thing. Loki either can't, or it's too difficult for him to control Thor. If he had the ability to mind-control Thor, I'm sure he would.

And yes, Loki isn't an Asgardian, that was a typo. But I meant that Thor, being an Asgardian probably isn't susceptible to Loki's mind-control powers.

Hawkeye's a soldier first and foremost. We aren't known for having strong independent will as we are following orders. Knowhatimsayin?

Dude Hawkeye has always been easily led astray by the charms of the da vimmens! He has no will power when it comes to the fairer sex.

I just read the lastest issue of Fury's Big Week. I find interesting the fact that the
World Council agreed to give Fury all that he wanted. Reading all Loki's facts that have been released lately, it makes me think... if also it's explained that Fury contacted Selvig... and Selvig was under control of Loki... maybe Loki is already controling more people?

Loki didn't mind control any frost giants, either. I put it down as that "magical" beings, whether Asgardian or Jotun, have greater mental resilience/esoteric resistance than baseline humans do. I can't wait to actually see Avengers, however, and get more information.

Having knowledge of the comic books, which this a comic book movie, and comparing the stories to the MCU is what its all about, discussing, speculating, enjoying what we are all here for. It doesn't seem to stray too far from the stories save to make it more realistic it seems. If we strayed too far from the comics then it isn't a comic book movie anymore, does that sound right? So is it wrong to compare the differences? This is an honest question. I'm finding myself confused at points when it comes to the MCU and the comic books.

Speculating by drawing details from the comics is one thing but disregarding comic book and film canon JUST to make up ANOTHER variable is pointless.

Loki's mother was not an Asgardian or a human in any incarnation, so it is not a viable option until evidence is provided that hints at it.

I'm not saying don't speculate, I'm saying do it intelligently.

I wasn't arguing  I was saying that OUTSIDE of women he is also susceptible to mind control because of his persona

Because they do, at least according to comic canon

Please don't take this wrong, I mean no offence I'm just saying,
An example of throwing out canon both from comics and actual myth would be Heimdell and Sif for MCU purposes, they are supposed to be siblings. So this is not far fetched. There's nothing wrong with discussing Loki's heritage being that it wasn't completely addressed on film. I was just thinking maybe like Thor (Gaea's son, comic books) he's attracted to earth for reasons he doesn't even know, or like I said just to annoy Thor. Something like that. It was intelligent being what we know and don't, what was addressed and what wasn't both on film and in comics and in myth. I'm a theologian by profession, a life long comic book fan and sci-fi freak. I love this stuff. However, I understand it will confuse people so I concede. :yay:

Yes it is far-fetched for one specific reason: The Thor MCU mythology has now been established. It wasn't established when Heimdall and Sif were cast, so there was no cinematic precedent. We already have a mythology around film Loki, it was established in the last film.

Going by what you're saying, then it's also reasonable to say Steve Rogers could be part Atlantean because they never said who his parents were, or Hulk speaks French fluently they just never gave him the chance to speak. Savvy?

LOL!
Banner did speak other languages, would love to see Hulk do it too!! lol.

I believe [BLACKOUT]Loki already has the Tesseract when he's captured in Germany, doesn't he?[/BLACKOUT]

Also, interesting tidbit about [BLACKOUT]something at Stark Tower that Loki needs. I'm guessing it's the Vibranium/Starkium, which is conduit for the Tesseract's energy that can create the rift in the time-space tissue that Loki needs to mass transport his army to Earth.[/BLACKOUT]

Dude some people are obsessive compulsive when it comes to speculating every element of this movie. I can't figure it out. They want to spoil every little detail for themselves, even making things up where need-be.

There's a point where the behavior is obnoxious and excessive. You're a little over a month away from the premiere. Show some patience already.

I have no patience. I can't wait for this movie. :woot:

Agreed, I believe the same.

That's the conclusion we came to after much speculation. :woot: So I agree.

[BLACKOUT]He wants something from Stark. And Germany. I just can't even fathom what's in Germany?[/BLACKOUT]

Neither can I ..... ask everyone who knows me because they rip on me about it all the time. Ruining everything for myself before I've even seen it though? Not gonna happen.

My mom's been hinting that, if I work hard on studying for my SATs and schoolwork, she'll let me take a day off.

Guess which day I'm taking off? Even if it is one day before the actual SAT's.

Neither can I ..... ask everyone who knows me because they rip on me about it all the time ..... but ruining everything for myself before I've even seen it is not an option.

lol. I believe you. And I understand. I'm just the opposite I don't mind spoilers, we won't know everything. :cwink:
It doesn't really matter if we're right or wrong, the fun is in the guessing right now. No one can be certain of anything till we see the movie, even if some of it is right, I don't mind, I'm still gonna enjoy this movie...over and over again..... And again. lol *throws money at Marvel* :woot:
