I haven't seen anyone saying it's too short, but a couple people have said it's a little overlong.

Good. Its probably ADD non geeks saying its to long. Which should mean its just perfect.

A quick rundown of all the critics' reaction on the Twitter of The Avengers:

Jeremy Smith, Ain't It Cool News:

"'The Avengers.' Finally, a Marvel film with a rousing finish. I'll deal with the first two acts in my review."

"And that third act is more than enough to make 'The Avengers' the best Marvel movie yet."

Anthony Breznican, Entertainment Weekly:

"Seriously, if comic book movies are your thing, you will be fully satisfied by the concoction Joss Whedon has fixed for you with 'Avengers.'"

Peter Sciretta, /Film:

"'The Avengers' is pretty epic. There is probably more action in this film's climax than all the other Marvel movie combines!"

Germain Lussier, /Film:

"I'd tweet about The Avengers but my body is still recovering from non-stop geeking out. So, so, so much fun (for the most part)."

Jen Yamato, Movieline:

"'Avengers' was big, messy, fun. More importantly there's now nothing but Hawkeye fanfic swimming around in my head. #mmmrenner"

Ben Pearson, Not Just New Movies:

"'The Avengers' was fantastic. Whedon crushed it, guys. It's everything you're hoping for."

Steve Weintraub, Collider:

"Absolutely loved 'The Avengers.' Was smiling from beginning to end. If you're a Marvel fan you're going to lose your **** in the theater."

Alex Billington, FirstShowing.Net:

"'The Avengers' - Epic. EPIC! Everyone fights everyone, but it does deliver. Marvel's movies get better every single one. Hulk! HULK!!"

Devin Faraci, Badass Digest:

"That'll do, Joss, that'll do."

My favorite thing (other than the Hulk love) is how funny everyone says it is. I love Whedon's wit more than anything and am glad everyone comments on the humor.

THIS MOVIE COULD BE 4 HOURS LONG AND I WOULD BE HAPPY, WE HAVE BEEN WAITING 50 YEARS FOR IT AFTER ALL LOL

Devin's still at it...

AVENGERS is good enough to make me forgive IRON MAN 2.

Btw, avoid THE AVENGERS in 3D. Worthless. See it 2D.

I don't think there was ever a question if the movie would have some wit to it.

I can deal with a couple of nitpicks here and there. It sounds like, for the most part, Joss really did pull it off! Practically every other tweet I see is someone raving about the Hulk and Ruffalo, which makes me even more happy than ever.

May 4th. Get here NOW!!

ETA: if the reservations center on the 3D aspect of the movie... that's cool with me. I'll be seeing this sucker in regular 2D anyway.

Can I tell you guys how happy I am right now?

GAHHHHH!!!! Avengers was delightful kick-assery with whipped fun on top!!! Well done Joss et al!

The version I see on Saturday will probably be in 3D, but whatever. I think 3D conversion is pointless. Cap and Thor both looked better in 2D.

I didn't doubt it would be witty, I just like that it's apparently so witty that for many people it's the first thing that springs to mind.

Also, as a big fan of Ruffalo I'm glad he's been somewhat vindicated, after being dragged through the mud by a small but vocal section of the fandom.

The Paul Dini tweet stands out to me. Were there mainline movie critics in the audience? Or was it just bloggers, entertainment media and celebs? Just curious.

I'm thinking based on the ecstatic geek press reactions and the enthused but not as ecstatic non-geek press reactions tonight, it will end up around 92 percent, putting it just behind Iron Man. Cabin in the Woods had much the same reactions, and it's hovering at 92 percent right now. I'd be totally fine with that - an insanely high score for a superhero flick, or just a movie, period (Hunger Games, as a point of comparison, is at 85 percent).

Very happy with the glowing reactions. May 4th can't come soon enough.

Beyond awesome to hear all the amazing reviews. Plus those wanting to catch up, check out the sig below or the 'timeline' thread - puts everything in order.

I am anxious to see people's view on how Hiddleston portrayed Loki this time around.

Well if the 3D trailer is any indication.... The movie will be fine. The 3D trailer looked great to me

Thank you @drpepper, #Avengers world premiere was amazing. Everyone should get excited for the release!

True. But what I was thinking of was all of the hype and "blockbuster" status assigned to X:FC by fans and critics, when in fact it made significantly less than CA:TFA domestically and less WW. It doesn't make sense to me when you compare the performance of the two films.

Also, despite Hulk being an overwhelming favorite among comics fans, his films have performed woefully at the box office. That suggests to me that the character doesn't resonate with the GA in quite the way fans (and studio execs) assume that it does. That can chance with a proper script, of course, but as of now he has not demonstrated the popularity most ascribe to him.

 It's not the character's fault it was the quality of the movies. Both Hulk 2003 and 2008 weren't great films. 2008 was an improvement over 2003 but both film left something to be desired. The character is popular it just the quality of the films soured the General Audience. People initially showed up to see the Hulk movies but after they saw how bad they sucked bad word of mouth spread and people quit going to see the films.

The same thing happened to Superman Returns.
