Yeah, I kinda agree with you there Parker. Thor looked cool in the helmet in the film, but if he had worn it in any talking scenes, that would have gotten REALLY distracting.

Batman wears a cowl and I didn't have any trouble taking him seriously in his talking scenes. Well, I did, but not because of the cowl

What makes Thor so different, considering he is wearing a helmet, which is a practical and normal thing for a viking to wear?

That's apples and oranges. Batman wears a cowl to conceal his identity. Thor's is ceremonial, based on what we saw in the movie. I can see you making a case that he'd need it in battle, but that's about it.

Scarlett was terrible in IM2. Cringe-worthy IMO. That said, she didn't have a big part, so the film didn't suffer to terribly. With all of these heroes in Avengers, I doubt her performance will affect my overall view of Avengers( unless she improves).

In the comics, Cap commands such natural trust and leadership that Thor, the freakin' god of thunder, takes orders from him. That's amazingly awesome!
I really hope the script and are such to showcase that and I really hope Evans brings his A-game and rises up to convey that in The Avengers.

It actually really looks purple. Maybe the Hulk will have purple pants!

I'm not against masks or helmets in general, just from memory, Thor's helmet had that bit in the middle that came down near the eyes. Could have gotten distracting in certain dialogue scenes.

I think that Thor wearing his helmet would be similar to scenes where Leonidas was wearing his helmet: not distracting and looking bad-ass!

I bet in the Avengers, this is costume that Tony remembers, so that's how we get the new suit, though Capt may never have any input on Tony making him a new one. It would be something like:

Tony: I made you a new suit, just like your old one

Capt: Dude.. that was my USO suit, I hated that...

Tony: Trust me.. you'll like this one

The costume designer purposely designed it that way to make the suit laughable . Because that is just ridiculous Chris face doesn't adjust well to a sock made mask. Now if the costume designer was serious they could totally make it work by creating the classic suit to look like this .
