The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 2

Several sites are reporting:

During today's "The Avengers" post-screening press conference, Robert Downey Jr. claimed that the cast and crew were due to shoot another remaining scene that very night. When the crowd laughed and Marvel head Kevin Feige notably winced, Downey replied, "I'm not kidding," and in typical Downey fashion ordered, "No more questions!" The cast then exited, leaving a sea of press buzzing.

And recently, there was an update to that:

Update: According to our Jeff Otto on the ground at "The Avengers" press conference Mark Ruffalo has also confirmed they are shooting an extra scene. "We’re shooting a scene tonight. I’m not sure exactly where it’s gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, 'Here’s some wardrobe. We don’t know where you’re going to be or what you’re doing.' " Ruffalo said. We asked if it will be in the "The Avengers" when it hits theaters Ruffalo added, "Yeah. So I’m like, 'All right, when are we doing that?' Today after we’re done.”

Now that would be"Epic"right there!

That ish would look ridiculous. They share virtually no similar facial features. They're better off going with special effects to make Hayley appear older.

So it's not just something for RDJ or Ruffalo But it involves the rest of the cast!?

It's the choreographed singalong that play alongside the credits

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an after credits scene - considering the fact that people have been discussing a mid credits scene, Joss filming an actual scene post-credits makes the most sense.

And what's more interesting is that no-one seems to know what's going to happen in it. Ruffalo certainly had no clue as to what they were filming.

IF it involves the cast then I'd like for The Avengers to be at Stark Tower as Furry calls them to turn on a TV screen and it's a reporter with people in the streets who are thankful to them for saving them&a person refers to them as Earth's Mightiest Heroes..Which makes the team feeling proud&special(as Tony smirks big in a co*cky way and Steve looks at him irritated But then smiles&shakes Tony's hands)

But eh they could have easily filmed that long ago for the ending!

Anyone think Shane Black might be filming this one?? It might not be the WHOLE cast, just RDJ and Ruffalol.

Its how they have done it in the past.

i think so which might explain why Joss seemed like he didn't know about it

That's not what *I've* been waiting for. :) The reviews are actually pretty low on my priority list this go-round; right now, spoilers are my top priority. :D

But now that you mention it, I'll gladly wait for the first *official* review, once the embargo has lifted. A broken-English fanblog doesn't tell us much about anything other than the fact that "omg this movie is da bomb."

About this last-minute reshoot: anybody remember if the press were asking a lot of questions about one particular plot point today....? Just wondering, because it sounds like it could be a case that someone found a big plot hole in the premiere last night that needed caulking up....I'd be more inclined to believe it's that, rather than some spur-of-the-moment extra bonus getting tacked on after the fact.

I doubt it'd be the whole cast.

Thor would have gone back to Asgard (obviously) at the end of the film, so unless it's a Thor-centered scene, Hemsworth is out.

It'd involve Iron Man and Banner for sure, considering their comments on it.

I don't think it'd be an IM3-related scene, purely due to the fact that the film isn't scheduled to shoot until a few months down the line, and that the script isn't even finalized yet (from what I've heard).

Best guess would be something that teases a solo Hulk movie, the Avengers sequel again or another movie entirely.

Feige commented on Joss' response to this whole situation by saying that Joss never denied this nor confirmed it. So it's up in the air, really.

Um, did anyone get a look at the cast from last night? Evans has a shaved head and beard, Hemsworth has no beard. Point being, you would need a lot of make-up to put them back into character.

I don't think its to fix a plot point or they wouldn't have mentioned it...seems like they want to do one more fan-stroking.

I don't see them getting the whole team together to tease a solo movie....

My guess is they are gonna tease the MCU 2

It's Hollywood....it *can* be done.
But yeah, I agree with you that the whole thing sounded very impromptu. In fact, I'd doubt that this scene would even involve the actors getting into character....it's probably something for the DVD extras, a thank-you to the fans from the cast and crew, a blooper-reel type joke skit, or some such.

I doubt they'll ask the whole cast to return to shoot a new scene. I think RDJ will most likely be in the scene, since his IM3 is coming up next so they may want to tie TA to IM3. Raffalo is another possibility because he also talked about it. As you said, neither Evans nor Hemsworth can get back into character right now, so don't count these two to be in the scene.

A MCU expansion tease would be nice,Perhaps Tony goes over towards Bruce who is checking something on his computer and asks what Banner is checking out..Who talks about a great scientist who he's heard about having an interesting power,Tony asks what is it and Bruce replies"Well what do you think about the size of an ant?"

Same thing could be done for a Dr.Strange tease!

I still think it might be Shane Black coming in to direct the post credit IM III setup.

or they could be misleading fans so the people who are seeing it this weekend will now have a reason to go see it on May 4th

Man I just spent a few hours reading every single post for 26 pages to catch up on brosef's spoilers! Love this site and love these spoilers!

There would also be the added pain of editing it together with the existing footage. The film releases in the UK in less than 13 days. Let's say it's going to be shown on...500 screens. That means they would have to film it, edit the shots and sounds, score it, then attach it to the existing footage, print it, and then ship it across from California to England. All within 13 days, and two of those are Sundays when shipping companies don't run. And, that's not even allowing any time for the theater to get the cans, open them up, piece the film together, and test it. For the domestic release you would get 20 days but, that's still pushing it.

I think RDJ and Ruffalo were messing with us.

I believe RDJ and (especially) Ruffalo, but I highly doubt the extra footage will make it to theatrical runs. Whatever it is, it's most likely going to be added to DVD/BR extras and won't be seen on the big screen.

So I've scoured these pages for a confirmation of two questions, but I can't seem to find them.

1) Does Thor fly in the movie?

2) If so, does he fly alongside Iron Man at any point?

I'm hoping for a big yes on this.
