Question:

For the henchmen that infiltrated SHIELD's hellcarrier, were they simply SHIELD agents that were brainwashed by Loki? Or were they just random soldiers/henchmen that Loki found and put under control?

I think most of them were either Hydra, AIM or something else, because they were referred to as wearing Shield uniforms, but not as being actual Shield agents. It's not something that was touched on that much though so it could be any of the scenarios.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been wondering about that since with the footage showing Fury taking shots at these guys, I was like wondering...won't they feel the consequences of killing their own agents, even if they're under control? If they were just regular evil henchmen that weren't SHIELD affiliated, then it wouldn't come off as potentially a moral issue imho.

I'm totally loving this thread, it's incredibly entertaining :hrt:.
Anyway, some discussion a couple pages back inspired two questions:
1. Hawk-eye flies with Iron man?! when, where, what happens?
2. Does the hulk/bruce/someone try to give Tony mouth-to-mouth at the end of the final battle? And how much do Tony and Bruce click, because they sound like bffs, but I'm baffled how they'd show that on screen? And does Bruce de-hulk at the end of the battle, or stay Green the whole time?
3. I know, I said too, but whatever-Tony and Bruce or Hawkeye Tony or Cap and Tony details please? An aww moment? Is Howard mentioned, does Bruce like Tony, or is it just one way?
Okay, Okay, enough(this is how excited for the film I am:o.
Thanks

I just assumed that
they were all mind controlled SHIELD agents like Hawkeye and Selvig.

They didn't specify. I assumed they were fellow mind-controlled SHIELD agents like Hawkeye, but they also mentioned that SHIELD had tons of enemies, so it could have been a combination.

1. Cap give orders to the team to cover specific areas. Hawkeye has to be on up high for his assignment so Tony grabs him and flies him up. Tony tells him, "Clench tight, Legolas." right before he flies him up.

2. No, no one tries to give Tony mouth-to-mouth, he just wakes up after Hulk roars at him while he's unconscious. He just says the "Did someone try to kiss me?" line for comedic affect. Bruce and Tony click very well, especially when they meet on the Hellicarrier. There's a really nice scene where they both talk science to one another and share the same lab. There's definitely mutual respect. Bruce stays as the Hulk the entire battle.

3. Cap and Tony clash the entire time until the final battle pretty much. There's a really nice scene right before the final battle between Cap and Tony where Cap tries to give Tony a pep talk after something dramatic has happened, that convinces Tony to work with Cap and the rest of the team.

Did they[BLACKOUT] cut out parts? As in Captain America fighting more and actually showing Mjolnir hitting some aliens?[/BLACKOUT]

Thor and Loki use it to get back to Asgard (Loki as a prisoner), so it's not destroyed, just no longer on Earth.

No, that was straight out of the movie
There is more before & after

There is plenty of fighting before and after that clip, but within the clip? They didn't cut anything. There's no reason to show Mjolnir flying when he throws it because we've seen that plenty of times. I think it's actually cooler to just hear it taking out aliens in the background, then have him nonchalantly catch it without even looking.

Right, I fully agree. Just making sure

without giving too much away how does Loki end up in Tony Stark's presence in that clip where he is given the roll call and having a quarrel with him?

If someone can indulge me for one question.lol:

I keep hearing about how the sequence regarding the Hellcarrier breach/attack is a GREAT one that's attached alongside the Hulk vs Thor fight.

I know a lot of people have said that they don't want to ruin the surprise, but frankly, if someone who's seen the film is willing to answer it for me, I'd greatly appreciate if someone could let me know in detail as to what that sequence was about and what made it so great like people have been saying. Trust me when I say that it won't spoil the experience for me.lol

Could very well be something they'll follow up on in Thor 2. That gives them a way to take Odin out of the picture again if need be (though that device can be easily overused itself)

Very true, one of Odin's purpose is to be a walking "deux ex machina" and I'm kind of tired of seeing him "weakened" just for the sake of the story.

The brief battle at the beginning of THOR was perhaps the most action we've ever seen Odin engage in outside of the comics.

What that sequence was about in one word?

Control

They track him down to be on the roof of Stark tower
Tony just non-chelantle enters his penthouse ignoring the stuff being built on there by Loki and the Dr and goes to pour himself a drink

Loki comes in like annoyed Stark didn't give him the time of day
Then he pays attention to him offering him a drink
He walks up with his staff, attempts to take control of him by touching his chest but taps the arch reactor. Tony explains its artificial then goes off on a rant about how It's all on Loki & there is nowhere to hide
Does the head count scene, quietly slips on his MarkVII bracelets then Loki gets violent so Tony jumps out the window
Orders Jarvis to deploy the new suit
It flies out in a pod and as Tony is falling, it connects to him piece by piece

The battle continues

I have a question that stems from this clip as well.

Does Thor take any damage in the movie? Captain America looks pretty ****ed up in that scene, as does the rest of the team. But out of all of them, Thor looks pretty unphased, do the Chitauri get any hits on him?

Well he's Thor, I'm sure he gets hurt a little bit but he's not going to bleeding profusely because superhuman durability is one of his powers.

I'm gonna feel bad for spoiling this, but you asked! I will give you a fairly detailed description of the whole sequence, and I urge you all NOT to read this, lol...

So the sequence starts with Loki imprisoned in the "Hulk cell," and thanks to his power of manipulation, the various Avengers are in the middle of a major feud. Hawkeye and some pawns approach the Helicarrier in a Quinjet. I'm assuming the pawns are mind-controlled SHIELD agents because they got clearance to land. Hawkeye shoots an extremely well-placed arrow that blows up one of the main engines of the Helicarrier, and we're off to the races.

-In the explosion, Banner and Widow fall through the floor to that engine-looking room we've seen shots of, with Widow's leg trapped under a pipe. She reports that they're fine...and then she notices Banner's getting a bit stressed, so she starts trying to calm him down.

-Fury tells Cap and Iron Man (who had just been at each others' throats) they need to get to the outside of the Helicarrier to try and fix that engine. So they go do that (which is extremely perilous, because there's a big gaping hole on the side of the ship that only a super-soldier would be able to maneuver around).

-Meanwhile, the henchmen are infiltrating the Helicarrier, and Fury, Hill & Co. are defending the bridge.

-Banner Hulks out, next to a TERRIFIED Widow (Scarlett really sells this). They have their chase sequence you've seen a glimpse of, and right when he has Widow cornered, Thor flies him through a wall. He tries to reason with Banner, but the dude's in full-on rage mode now, and takes him on. The two of them battle throughout several rooms/decks of the Helicarrier.

-While Fury and Hill have successfully re-secured the bridge, they notice the destruction Thor v. Hulk is causing. They also notice Hawkeye (I think?) making his way toward Loki's holding cell. Fury orders Widow (who is still in a state of shock over her Hulk encounter) to go take care of Hawkeye. Hill orders one of their jets to fly around the outside to the room Hulk/Thor are currently destroying and try and distract Hulk and keep is attention. "But don't get too close."

-So the fighter jet flies around and starts shooting through the windows at the Hulk. Guess what, he got too close. The Hulk comes flying out the window, successfully lands on the jet and just starts mauling it in mid-air. The poor pilot is scared s***less and ejects....but Hulk catches him (one of those great "OH S***!!" moments). Thankfully, he just tosses him sideways and destroys the plane, leaving him falling from the sky. That's Hulk's great exit from the sequence, lol.

-Meanwhile, Cap and IM are trying to fix this engine, with hostiles baring down on them. IM's doing most of the fixing while Cap is fending them off. IM needs Cap to flip a lever at a certain time so that he doesn't get caught in the rotor. Cap's gonna have a hard time doing that, and the Helicarrier starts losing altitude.

-Thor approaches Loki's cell just in time to see Loki walking out of it. He tries to tackle it only to reveal it was one of Loki's projections - the real Loki is already free, and he closes the cell door with Thor inside it, asking, "Are you ever going to stop falling for that?" Then he says, "These people think us immortal, brother. Let's test that theory, shall we?" As he's about to hit the button, Coulson shows up, with a new shiny weapon. He says he doesn't even know what it does. He's about to test it on Loki when he gets stabbed from behind...by the real Loki. Another projection. Thor screams "No" like in the trailer, and with that, Loki hits a button that sends the Hulk-proof cell with his brother inside plummeting toward the earth. A dying Coulson tells Loki he's going to lose. Loki doubts this and asks how he could possibly lose at this point, and Coulson replies it's because he "lacks conviction." Then he fires the weapon, which sends Loki flying through the wall. "So that's what that does."

- Black Widow finds Hawkeye and they have a pretty well-choreographed fight that ends with her knocking him out.

-Thor is using all of his might to break out of the cell as it's spinning wildly and crashing toward the earth. He finally does it just seconds before it shatters against the ground, and he goes flying out sideways, skipping across the terrain (that's how he ends up in the cornfield).

-Loki and his one or two leftover henchmen escape on the Quinjet Hawkeye & Co arrived on.

-Cap finally gets to the lever which slows the rotor enough for IM to get out of it (really beaten up), and the Helicarrier finally stops losing altitude. Catastrophe somewhat averted, group in shambles. End of sequence.

I think that's about how it went. As you can tell, there was A LOT going on and it was all inter-cut together, so I may have gotten a couple of things mixed up. But the whole sequence was just SO glorious.

Wow; that sounds AWESOME!!! Thanks a million!:yay::woot:

Looking at the scene from this description, in some ways, I kind of wish that there were some side/minor villains that they could have used to temporarily aid Loki during the Hellcarrier since his alien army wasn't available till the end of the film/climax.

Did any of the henchmen get killed during the chaos? I'm kind of hoping that they were just regular henchmen who were able to get clearance thanks to Loki since it would kind of suck (but not in a way that would ruin my film experience.lol) if Fury and the rest of SHIELD/The Avengers had to kill off innocent SHIELD agents who were being controlled against their will.

No problem!

Yeah, like I said, it's not made explicit who the henchmen are, exactly...since they made a point of mentioning that Hawkeye/Loki got their resources from a surprising amount of SHIELD enemies all over the world, it's reasonable to think that the henchmen may have come from that pool as well. So they could've been HYDRA agents, for all we know! That said, Fury does knock several of them out rather than kill them, I believe, too. So it could go either way. There are a couple of shootouts that happen in the sequence, though, so it's probably safe to assume that some of the henchmen did indeed get killed.

Indeed:

Given how AIM and Modok has been connected with the Cosmic Cube at times in the comics, it would have been a interesting cameo to see Loki being aided briefly by AIM troops in the film, manipulating them to think that he'd help them with the cosmic cube with them supplying him with resources and such, but yeah, I'm sure based on everyone's thoughts that it worked out well in the context of the film.

Personally, I'm leaning on unnamed SHIELD enemies based on the quote you just gave from Fury, plus, unless told otherwise.lol..I don't think Loki gained control of any other SHIELD agents besides Barton and Selvig during his arrival on Earth.
