The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 4

Apart from frowning a lot and having a silly name, what about 'Mount' (heh) recommends him to play Batman?

I can't imagine Alfred with an Oirish accent, incidentally.

Hell on Wheels. Watch an episode. Not a clip, but an entire hour.

But it doesn't mean he's not capable of it. Besides, do we want another cockney Alfred? lol

Alfred needs to sound like Toucan Sam, end of discussion.

Richard Armitage is too ugly for Batman. Face it. He could pull it off though for sure, and acting is more important than looks, but he does not come off as a handsome billionaire playboy at all. Way too smack.

You'll have to speak for yourself, there. I find Armitage to be quite handsome. My only concern about him is his age. He's getting to be too old to begin a trilogy.

I find Karl Urban to be MUCH more attractive than Richard Armitage, but neither of them are "too ugly for Batman," imo, even though people have claimed as much about each. They both have great voices for the part, too. As far as I'm concerned, age is the only thing going against them. But then, I'd prefer an older, established Batman, so their ages wouldn't be an issue for me, just WB probably.

i could see christoph pulling off alot of villains. riddler, strange, black mask, hell i'm surprised no one mentioned him for joker around here.

the thing about him is he's really good at playing the "polite " killer, like inglorious basterds and even django unchained in a way. the type of guy who'd knock on your door with a kind smile and be like " why hello there, i'm here to kill you and your entire ****ing family . hope you don't mind " and he's so damn charming you'd be fooled into saying " well come on in ! " reminds me of that polite robber in real life that i can't seem to remember the name of for some reason...

Less so than keaton?

It seems slightly disingenuous to imply that the franchise before last, some 24 years ago, set the standard.

My point is that that exact same argument was used 24 years ago. 80% of this thread seems to be people casting actors based on their appearances.

You should cast for talent first and then consider the appearance. Again keaton or ledger on appearances alone would have never been cast in either role.

I agree with that. It is childish to suggest someone just because they have a heavy jaw and are >6'.

On that note we should immediately disqualify anyone currently on or prominently featured on a CW/WB show.

I agree on the CW, but not the WB, since the WB is dead, and some of the actors who were on it (Michelle Williams, Jamie Foxx, Keri Russell, etc.) have broken out of that mold to do great work elsewhere. But it took them a looooong time to do so, and the actors on The CW haven't had that kind of time or experience yet (except the ones like Jensen Ackles, who, at this point, probably never will).

Bradley Cooper for batman he could play the billionare playboy in his sleep and after the a-team and limitless can do the private bruce wayne as well and wb has their eyes on him and he tried out for Green Lantern and Flash and i think we will all agree he is better then WB's apparent first choice (Affleck) so yeah thoughts?

Ledger did have a big smile that seemed appropriate for the Joker, but you are right that all the fanboys wanted really thin actors like Adrian Brody for the role.

Guys, please don't bother to cite an actor's height. It is about as relevant as their blood type.

Except when it comes to Wonder Woman.

who cares about height? they make Tom Cruise seem like he's over 6 feet tall and in reality we all know that he's not.
