The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 4

What a waste then...especially when she's a dating a midget :funny:

Having a CW affiliation shouldn't make you ineligible and it's elitist bull**** to say it should.

That said, having the only notable work on your resume be a few episodes on a CW show and really nothing more goes to show that they are, almost certainly, not qualified to lead a billion dollar franchise and it's foolish to think that they are, based essentially entirely on looks and a few guest appearances.

It's a catch-22 though the fact that they started on or are only notable for being on the CW i think hinders them being taken seriously as actors (for better or worse) thus they can't get other roles to better define themselves as actors.

It doesn't even have to do with how big the show was/is as cavill was essentially cast as superman based on his affiliation with a show that probably actually got less viewers than a CW show does.

Working on The CW doesn't hinder your ability to be taken seriously or get work. Look at Blake Lively. ****, she was on the MOST turgid and shallow show on that network and now she's done films with Oliver Stone and Ben Affleck.

I mean, there are folks getting work that started on friggin reality shows! Where you start is not an indicator of where you end up, as far as I'm concerned.

STARTED FRUM DA BOTTOM NOW WE HEYAH.

jk, I ****ing hate drake.

but yea, sawyer has a point.

Drake would've been better off staying with Canadian teen soaps. :o

That's true however as you've mentioned there is a big expectation that you've done some other work aside from your CW show. Also as shallow as Gossip Girl was it still appealed to a wider audience than you're smallvilles and supernaturals really do. It had "buzz" as the cool people like to say.

Which is why Gossip Girl premiered to less than half of what Smallville premiered to?

Why would you go all the way back to the premiere? Smallville was on for 10 seasons and was maybe relevant for it's first 3?

I've never really watched any CW shows but i'd hear a lot more about of gossip girl and it's stars in the general media than i ever did from smallville which seemed to be more relegated to the fan boy community.

I mean the fact that tom welling has pretty much disappeared is sort of a testament to the fact the show maybe didn't reach an audience as wide as it's 10 years suggest? Hell i've seen more of dean cain the last couple of years than i've from welling.

Welling worked probably 9-10 months out of the year for ten years straight on one project. The show ended less than two years ago. I'm sure he could use a breather. He's got a JFK movie he's currently doing anyway, so it's not like he's dead to the world.

Look, this thing is getting more complicated than I think it needs to be, I simply think the notion that being on The CW essentially lands you on some sort of blacklist is a ridiculous one.

I wasn't really suggesting anything black-list related. I just see a lot of people on SHH fan-casting these CW stars as potentials and i feel i'm just being real that if the only main thing you're known for is CW work you're probably not going for a lead in a big picture.

Speaking of Gossip Girl actors, has Penn Badgley ever been suggested for Batman or Nightwing? He's 26 (probably around 30 when the reboot shoots), and apparently he was really good in the Jeff Buckley biopic he starred in. He was good in 'Margin Call', I know that much.

(Also, I think Chace Crawford would make a good young 70's Cyclops in DOFP, or its sequel)

As someone who doesn't like fancasting a whole lot...I would like to see that dude from True Blood as Bruce Wayne.

okay, i'm just gonna admit it . i'm becoming a fan of the idea of gosling as batman. after actually giving him a chance and watching a few of his movies, as well as the trailer for only god forgives, I finally see what everyone's talking about .:oldrazz:

it'd be ideal if the film was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn though.

Can we get Benedict Cumberbatch as Bruce Wayne/Batman? He is one of the few actors I can imagine as extremely calm and clever.

He's great, but hardly physical or conventionally handsome.

Send him to gym/body trainer. If Christian Bale can bulk up so quickly despite being severely underweight, Benedict should be able to put on some mass.

If not, the director can always give him a body armour suit to make him bigger than he actually is. After all, if they can do that to Michael Keaton, why can't they do that for Cumberbatch.

The intellectual quality of Batman is far more important than the physical quality of Batman.

Not to be cruel, but regwec said "conventionally handsome." A gym doesn't fix that. I LOVE Cumberbatch, but on no planet does he fit the handsome billionaire playboy mold, imo.

eh. neither was keaton. though, not a fan of cumberbatch as bats. if they were using the white disguise for mm, he'd be my pick.

I agree that Benedict exudes great intelligence, but I just think it would be better applied to characters like Brainiac or Dr. Strange.

Benedict could be Clayface. That's right, I said it. And have no regrets.

Benedict exudes physicality and menace. Isn't he playing the villain in the Hobbit Pat 2?
